I am a kiwi living in Australia who is super proud of the Lawrence Brothers and Kyle Webster! ๐ New Zealand managed a 3rd place finish overall in the B Final which was a little disappointing (Glad we know how to play Rugby ๐) But the Aussie boys (and team) raced awesome for the win.
The main reason for my post is to shout out majorly to Chase Sexton!!!!
He wasnโt at the race but he was the first racer to put his hand up to be there.
If anyone listened to the PulpMX episode when he was still in before he got injured he was definitely worthy of the title of Captain America to lead your team!!!
USA is 2nd 2024 MXON and Tomac including all his fellow racers and American fans should be proud ๐
I will never forget Chase Sexton putting his hand up straight away to attend MXON even after committing to 2024 450 SX and MX and SMX! The guy is hardcore!
Great first postโฆwhats rugby?
I will never forget Chase Sexton refusing to put his hand up to go in 2023.
Maybe at your level, you can jump on any bike and go slow. At those speeds they race at, they need to know it works as needed and be able to perform as expected.
Chase and Chance Hymas both really wanted to race. Good stuff!
Clearly, Tomac's (and the rest of teams) heart is in the right place too! Great stuff.

So Chase didn't know if the Honda he had been riding for years would work?
Cause Lars is on record as saying he coulda rode the Honda.
Look, I don't care if he goes or not, I just find it funny how there has been 500 pages bashing Deegan for not going yet multiple threads calling Chase Captain America when he chose not to go just last year.
Fickle bunch us Vitards.
True he did turn down 2023. But imagine just being handed a 22-0 whooping from your Honda teammate on his first attempt and then having to go to MXoN and race against the same guy with the pressure of his country on his back, after already signing on with KTM (oh by the way Roger is MXoN team manager). I would have said no too.
His best option was to get on his new KTM put his head down and test/practice on the bike and come into SX guns-a-blazin'.
He couldn't ride the Honda because the MXdN team manager wanted him on his KTM so he dropped out of MXdN. lol
Agree. Wasn't there some sponsorship conflicts with the team change that played into the deal as well?
I absolutely love watching Deegan race. He's an old school madman on the track. As an old man...I don't care for the social media driven aspect of his cadres career planning. That's entirely on me. Every top racer has a very small window to make bank. If he's maximizing his income doing what he's doing...then who am I to bitch? As long as he's stomping a mud hole in the competition...he'll get a pass from me...I guess.
It's similar to your oblong ball but without all those pansy helmets and pads. ๐
Chase has stated he wanted to go in 23 but had very little to no time on the ktm and ktm didnโt want him to.
The original Captain America has got to be Brad Lackey, the first American to do it.
Some might say it's real football. Unless you're British or from most other parts of the world excluding Aus, USA and NZ... ๐
Even the girls donโt wear all that gear ๐
YearโฆPlaceโฆRiders
1972โฆ7โฆBrad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy, Jimmy Weinert, Gary Jones
1973โฆ4โฆJim Pomeroy, Mike Hartwig, John DeSoto
1974โฆ2โฆBrad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy, Jimmy Weinert, Tony DiStefano
1975โฆ9โฆBrad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy, Kent Howerton, Tony DiStefano
1976โฆ5โฆBob Hannah, Rex Staten, Kent Howerton, Tony DiStefano
1977โฆ2โฆSteve Stackable, Gary Semics, Kent Howerton, Tony DiStefano

To me, the OG will always be Hannah IMO... followed closely by Ricky Johnson and Jeff Ward. I just don't recall anyone refusing to go (riders or teams) until more recently.
Jeff Ward 7x MXdN champion. That's a wild stat. Has to be the most of anyone right?
I feel like Eli did way better than Chase would have at MXoNโฆ.sucks he couldnโt go due to injury but Eli was a better pick IMOโฆ.
Why don't you think Chase could go 2-2? Ironman was only 6 weeks ago and Eli wasn't close at that time. Also, the pick was never between Eli and Chase but rather Eli and Aaron.
Pit Row
Remind me again why he is still in charge?
Shit show after shit show after shit show after shit show putting a team together.....much of it caused by him and the division he creates....we fail to send an A team almost yearly....yet we keep the geriatric dude in charge.
Makes a ton of sense.
He had an option from both Honda and KTM to ride either one of those bikes.
But since he ended his Honda deal the way he did i guess that riding one more race for them were never an option in his own mind.
The next option were KTM and that has been brought up all ready that they did not want to risk him getting a sour start on the bike if that race ended badly.
The third thing were some sponsors like Monster etc that would have overlapped and the job of clearing out those contracts. Mainly Monster-Redbull.
But i still think that he could have gone to France on the Honda, but it was clear that he was done with them and wanted no part of it. So he can take some blame for not going. At the end it was his ego that got in the way of it.
One week more or less testing before A1 was never the problem there. Same as Deegan could have waited one week extra to get the screw out if he really wanted to go.
Yes I know the pick was between Eli and AP, but Iโm just saying in my own opinion that Eli would have done better than Chase, so Iโm happy he went. I just feel like unless chase got a great start (which is a flip of a coin) he can struggle to climb, especially with the way Jett and Tim were riding. Not talking shit, just my own opinion and I could totally be wrong..
A couple posters in here come off as clowns with their know-it-all opinions.
Opinions are one thing but to throw shade on Chase for โ23 when you arenโt privy to the decisions behind the scenes says a lot about your character in my mind.
Must be nice being the smartest person in the room all the time. /s
Would this be comparable at all to those throwing shade at Deegan when they don't know the decisions behind the scenes or does it only apply to Chase?
Asking for a friend.
Man as you would say you're still crying over deegan. We understand you like him and it hurts your feelings when people don't, but quit bringing him up. This is about sexton.
I'm just simply pointing out how it's weird that dudes like you take absolutely every chance you can get to shit on Deegan but then want to turn around and worship Chase when he did the same shit.
I'm sorry that hurts your feelings so much to have your bullshit pointed out.....if you don't like it, maybe quit doing it?
Either way, catch you in the next Deegan thread where you are sure to be talking as much shit as possible.
I recall reading the Monster/Red Bull conflict was effectively unresolvableโฆ. That meant riding the KTM wasnโt going to happen. So, among other things, it was too complex to reconcile all the issues. I hold no ill will on that issue. He had signed with KTM, he wasnโt going to ride the Honda, no matter what.
For the thousandth time. The reason Deegan gets more shit for not going to MXON two years in a row is because of his cheap, phoney and cynical use of American patriotism for the purpose of gathering clicks and attacking the Lawrences. Chase doesn't do shit like that, therefore, he doesn't get shat on like Deegan.
Lol he's even copying Jett's top off/pants down?
