The same dude tracked them down last week. I would say the “stacked field” was probably more settling since the battle was only between the two of them anyways.
There is too much money on the line for anyone to ride around and settle. Vegas had a big payout and the final standing had big payouts. These guys were all trying to earn $$$
Eli beat Hunter in 3 of the 6 motos so I’m not sure you can claim Eli can’t hang with Hunter. If you are only talking about the final, then yes, Jett and Hunter capitalized.
Having said that, sx and outdoor moto are much different than SMX and results may vary.

If Tomac was part of the 3 "winner take all" riders. He would've dug deeper to go for it. But he knows he couldn't have gotten higher than 3rd place anyways. So yes, he definitely settled it down. No point in risking another injury before the offseason and potential MXdN alternate fill in.

ET did beat Hunter in some races, but not in the points, or the last race (Where he got the start straight behind Hunter - so had the chance to battle)
Still, the last race was a great result for the Lawrence brothers.
And Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, and Jason Anderson were in the race. As was Chase Sexton for a little bit.
The only stacked field is the lawrence bros. Deegan might be the only US hope in a couple of years.
Looked like he dug as deep as he could in the first moto.
I keep watching back that Pass in moto 1 with Jett and Eli.. Crazy how he can turn on the burners

Sexton (you know, the guy who beat Jett, Hunter and Eli by 13+ seconds the week before) made it all of 3 turns into Saturday's race, so no, he wasn't "in the race".

Nothing to do with the Lawrences v Sexton speed wise, but I'm curious how much of the blame you put on Sexton for not making more than 3 turns? I know there's some luck involved with getting through safely but surely he takes most of the blame for moving to the inside of that last jump in the middle of the pack?
I know many talks have been made around the subject, about Jett. But I was re-watching Jett's pass in moto 1 and the couple minutes after he took the lead from ET. Even though Eli is getting older, man he was trying all he could and we know how fast Tomac is when he is on, it is nearly impossible to go faster. That being said there's nothing he could do to just catch Jett back. Just this couple minutes between the pass and the checkered flag where phenomenal to me. Since the Carmichael/Stewart era, we've seen a lot of good, even great riders, like Villopoto, Dungey, Tomac, Roczen, Sexton... just my personal opinion, but I don't think that any of these 5 mentionned riders has ever raced as well as Jett is right now. It can be close because those guys are all really truely amazing (Ken in 2016 outdoors, especially at Spring Creek, Tomac through all his championship seasons, Sexton coming from last to first this summer, Villopoto and his very specific way to ride a bike that made him almost unbeatable in 2014...), but man Jett is really really really special...
I don't think the field is stacked at all. I don't like that term but let's face it. Outside the usual top 5 when everyone is on the track who has come close to winning.

It’s stacked if you look at the riders names, but look at their performances it’s not.
Take Barcia for example, yes is is a past champion… 12 years ago in the 250 class. I would not say that he makes the 450 class stacked today with his riding, and the list goes on for many of the other riders of his generation that are no way near podium speed.

I hope he can challenge when he moves up, but that is not for at least another year or 2, and there is no guarantee a 250 champion will be successful on the 450.
Yup. I do think the levels guys are bringing towards the age of 30 and even past it is higher than ever. Whatever they're doing training wise and for recovery is working
Once in a few generations you get a guy who just figures it all out and dominates (RJ, MC, RC, JS7)- right now its Jett Lawrence.
