I have 40 hrs on my 23’ - All smiles, Zero problems. PC exhaust really woke it up. Curious to see what a V Force would do and Twisted mapping but dang it runs good so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it

Mine has the WMR re-flash and the PC Works pipe. Always crisp with a linear PB on either map.

I am in the market for another bike. I went to a local dealership yesterday to price a 24 300 SX. It looks like people with 23 models had the most problems. Is a new 24 a safe choice? Any happy 24 owners with a lot of hours on their bikes here?

My '24 has been amazing. PC Works pipe and WMR for a perfect crisp and linear wide powerband. Also, as an old dude with no workout routine. I'm not beat up after a day at the track. It's as easy to ride as my '22 YZ250F, but with amazing power and way more confidence in the turns.

My 23 has been amazing, no issues and love the AER revalved forks. Have tried spring conversions and the AER when set up right is hard to beat especially the adjustability. Have my eye on the 25 since about my only complaint is the rigid frame. Rode a few different 450's the other day (new YZ450, 24.5 Rockstar FC 450 with Ohlins suspension and the new Beta450). Getting back on my 300 after that was so good! Very underrated bike IMO.

Cool, it's nice to see some positive comments. I'm on a 22 MC450F now. It's great and for the most part less fatiguing and easier to ride overall than my former 21 250SX. However, in some conditions and turns I miss the light 2-stroke feel. The luggable 300 SX is intriguing.

I suppose I'm in the target demographic for a 300 SX. I like that it could function as a xc/woods bike too. There is only one cure for new bike fever...

The light feeling to me is just more fun, 450's just feel heavy after riding the smaller bore bike and yes the 300 truly feels like a 3 stroke. Very good transition from low to high rev.

I just put on the Bridgestone x31 rear and it feels like it spins more rather than hook up than the stock mx33. Anyone else try it? The main knobs are slightly closer together on the x31, so not as much scooping effect...

Who did your forks? I like the adjustability of the air fork and even more so the lite weight!

Just turned 90hrs on my 23 300sx…stock top end & clutch… remapped at 40hrs by JRoss, fmf pipes, bike srill runs super strong. Love this bike, I use it as my do it all practice bike. Woods, gncc, Mx. I will take it to 100 hrs before I pull the top end, like all my previous 300”s. The majority of those 90hrs have been Mx and deep sand. After a mud race, At around 60hrs it felt a little ratty, I replaced spark plug & reset powervalve…. Back to crispy & strong….when I get around 150hrs on it, I will sell and buy another one… I have several bikes but if I could only afford one, this would be it….

I’ve got 12 hours on my 24. No issues when the track is optimal. It corners great, good stability but man this thing is harsh through the chop later in the day. I’ve tried a bunch of shock settings, tried to make the AER fork work, ran my revalved 6500 kit which helped out marginally. I’m getting my Sag numbers.  Wondering if others are having issues charging in late motos when the track is blown out. I understand it gets harder to ride in these conditions but this thing is borderline unridable.

I can pretty much echo this feedback. I have 14 hours on mine. I'm running a valved 6500 kit from my 450 too. I have stock valving in my shock but with a 51N/m spring and good sag numbers. I can tune the shock to get good hold up and it feels pretty good on everything but small hard chop. If I go any softer with the clickers it starts moving through the stoke too much/fast on everything else. I figure it's time for a revalve.

I tried the x31 on my 450 and hated it. Same thing, no grip. It was pretty good in a straight line but lean angle was pretty useless. It will way outlast the mx33 though

I believe this is the most common complaint with the stock 23-24 chassis & shock settings. Too stiff for square edged, choppy conditions,in the initial part of the stroke,  then too soft towards end of stroke. You can pretty much feel the initial stiffness just pressing down on the seat. A good suspension tuner should be able to set you up with either a linkage change and/ or revalve. I ride eastern softer dirt and lots of deep sand, I don’t mind the initial stiff hold up in the sand.

Ive got a revalved xact pro shock to try this weekend. We shall see

Anyone here previously had (and obviously loved, otherwise it won't be a good starting point lol) a YZ 250? Was the switch to the 300 SX a good choice? Is there something you miss about the Yamaha? I still haven't decided, I want a TBI 300 (or even 250), but I cannot test ride them. So either I have to go for it or not.

Just wondering if anyone knows how the new 300sx compares to the new 250sx? I had a 23 300sx and didn't really gel with it. Have a 25 150sx and love it but it struggles with my fat ass on softer dirt. Wondering if the 250sx feels a bit more 150ish or similar to 300?

There would be no comparison to the 150. The 250 will have a livelier powerband and less low to mid tq than the 300. I think the 300 character keeps me from getting soreness after a day at the track.

Yeah sorry I didn't mean comparable as in actual power. Just meaning the 250sx might feel a bit more playful and 2 strokish than the 300sx. Chad Reed kinda hinted in one of his videos that his 25 250sx is more fun and exciting to ride than the 300. Wondering if anyone else had the same feeling.

Most guys with the tbi 250 sx have said its lacking the power & hit of the tradiational 250 2t. My 300 never lacked for hp or hit, I felt it hit too hard on aggressive map in the midrange and eventually had it tuned for more overrev on top…. The charm of the 300 is , you can lug it or rev it…it has an answer for everything

That's strange, that's what I didn't like about my 300sx compared to my 350sxf. I felt like you couldn't lug it or rev it, it had to be ridden right in the midrange. It never had enough grunt to pull 3rd and it would just fall on its face when you revved it out. Thought it might have just been me but many in my area felt the same, all sold them and went back to 350's or 450's.

You are probably on a much higher level than me… my midrange hit was hard & fast, felt good for 2-3 laps then it was tiring.  I added 1 tooth to the rear and remap for smoother power throughout and more top end…If woods riding I run a low end pipe, for mx I run more mid/ top pipe….I use my 300 mostly as a practice,Gncc/ woods bike, I mainly race a 350sfx… I feel the 300sx is a little more tiring to ride than my 350.

I have both, the 300 excels when the track is deep. The 250 excels when the track is hard packed

Yeah I agree the midrange hit was pretty gnarly and definitely more tiring than 350sxf. I just felt it lacked alot in the bottom end compared to the 350, then come on very strong but signed off really early.

I bought it thinking it would be my main MX bike but for me the 350 is better for that. It was alot of fun in the bush but.

How does the character of the engines compare? I'm not too bothered about outright power more the style of the power. I didn't really like the way the 300 delivered its power, is the 250 actually that much different?

9/14/2024 5:12pm

The 250 is mellow, you need to ring its neck everywhere which is fun, makes me feel like a hero. You need to be in the right gear to make it work. The 300 stock was too abrupt for me off the bottom and then signed off too early. I had my ecu remapped by twisted. It’s super linear now. The power character of the 300 with the remap is awesome. I can carry 3rd around a bit more when I’m getting tired and lazy. If your into lap times I actually had the 23 350sxf too. I was 1-2 seconds a lap faster on the 250 compared to the 350 and then 1-2seconds faster on the 300 than the 250. I got rid of the 350 and kept the 2 strokes

Wild the difference people’s perspectives can be, I’ve hopped on my buddies 23 350 several times  and it has nothing down low compared to my 300. I’m not saying you’re wrong at all, but when I ride his 350 my biggest complaint is how slow it takes to build power. It easily and obviously revs way past what my 300 does so you can carry each he’s longer, but I’m quicker from corner to corner on my 300 by banging a quick 2-3 shift and letting the quick building power of the 300 do its thing vs waiting for the 350 to build up to a reasonable hp.

I’m also faster on my tc125 than my wife’s 250f so I just suck on four strokes…love them all though 125, 250f, 350f, 300 each are fun in what they excel at I’m just oddly faster on each classes two stroke vs four stroke.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. I love my 350 and keeping that as my main bike. I just picked up a 25 150sx and as much as i love it i think im a bit heavy for it. Sounds like the 250sx can be ridden alot more like a 150 than the 300 can be.

Yeah i agree people's perspectives of how a bike feels can vary greatly. It's probably not completely accurate for me to say the 350 feels way stronger off the bottom, it's more the way the power comes on.

I like to use 3rd as much as possible and felt the 350 could pull that in more corners where as I had to go back to 2nd in alot of the same corners on the 300. The top end is no comparison and the 350 just revs to the moon and keeps making power. I think I just suck on 2 strokes ha ha.

I stoped riding my 350 after I got my 300. A pipe on the 300 let’s it pull each gear longer and that was all it needed.

I went to a 50 rear on my 300, so I can pretty much stay in 3rd most of the time….I”m probably faster on my 300 but more consistent on my 350

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. I love my 350 and keeping that as my main bike. I just picked up a 25 150sx and as much as i love it i think im a bit heavy for it. Sounds like the 250sx can be ridden alot more like a 150 than the 300 can be.

How heavy are you? I'm looking at a 2025 150SX to replace my 450. I'm 190 lbs.
