That was a great listen. Haiden is the future and will go on to represent the USA at the MXoN's plenty.

For fucks sake!  The old growing the sport discussion again.  Deuce Deuce wants it to be NFL size?  Really? At least he admits he doesn't know how that would happen. And then Haiden chimes in with his bullshit.  Just because Haiden has a few social media followers the whole logistics of the sport of motocross are not going to fundamentally change.  For starters there probably isn't any motosport as big as the NFL and certainly no motorsport anywhere near as large as football (soccer for Americans).  Gyspy Ho and all these 'grow the sports' monkeys are living in fairyland.

I'll say to these sages, perhaps you should have attended school a little longer and acquired a sense of the real world beyond the sport. FFS.

If people 'don't know' what's up with his wrist, the Deegans should try being transparent.

F1 would be as big or bigger than NFL, not sure about MotoGP.  As the premier dirt/offroad racing series in the world I don't think it's unreasonable to look at those other premier motorsport series and see what could be done.  The biggest problem is that on a global basis you have two competing series - AMA ProRacing/Feld and FIM/MXGP - both vying for title of world's best MX/SX series.  I really think the next big barrier for true growth in this sport (at an elite level) is going to be unifying those two.

But yet attendance was up last year 20% in 2023 and another 30% this year.... TV ratings are up again and have been year over year since going to Peacock .....not sure about you but in most cases people would consider those signs of growing the sport....

Well... how does one learn about the real world in school? The watered down, overpriced atrocity they call "higher education" But i do agree that our sport is niche, thus we can not simply grow the sport as they want. IMO you want to grow the sport? Run it professionally instead of the bro show it is. TV production is the face lift and it stinks to high hell every single year. The AMA who is supposed to run the damn event is a joke with inconsistencies and more worry about ticking off the OEMs. The list goes on and on, but the point being.  You need a good foundation to go anywhere and we simply don't have it.

According to Deeg's they are showing up to watch him win and watch him lose. Surely that has to be 20%+.  😆

If we all agree the sport is up on a spectator level can we not all agree it is down on a participation level?

I did not attend Unadilla but no way in hell did they have a larger crowd than last year.

And yet bikes are sitting on dealer floors all over the place.

Did the sport really grow or did the pockets of those who are at the center/top grow?

NFL has grown while participation in youth football has declined. The money in moto still comes from riders riding and buying things, not from spectators and tv deals. only people benefiting from higher attendance and better ratings right now are promoters and that isn't going to keep moto companies in business. Everyone drives cars so it's easier to justify participation in F1 and Nascar as marketing to the masses. Most of your neighbors will go their whole life without stepping into a powersports dealership though.

Long story short, growth without participation in moto isn't really growth.

When these guys or most people associated with Professional SX/MX discusses growing the sport they are talking about taking the sport of professional SX/MX to more fans and eyeballs than the current level...which in turn would put more money into the sport...

As Indigo said, "this is a participation sport".......and the riders in this series need to be able to participate, without silly stipulations.

One way to get more people watching is to let riders wear Go-pros and use that content to promote themselves. This would especially help the the privateer riders who get next to Zero exposure. All the casual viewer sees and thinks is, it's the the Lawernces vs Deegan series.

Don't tell the Go+pro thing was all bout safety. BS...About that money and control.

Any top rider, team or manufacture that talks about growing the sport with out watering the grass roots ground that its built on is full of shit.
