I'm so sick of hearing that "so and so" blocked passed this guy...and this guy ran "so and so" off the track.
Boo f-ing hoo, it's motorcycle racing. I personally LOVE watching the guys block pass. It's much better than all of them going high in the corners and following each other around.
If you don't want to get blocked...protect your line.

There would be protests and fines every week!

You guys were bad mo'fos for sure.
Arenacross is definitely a lot of fun and helps a rider develop a much more aggressive outlook on racing and passing. BUT, that's the nature of the game because of the way the track is set up. Most Arenacross tracks are extremely narrow and one lined, so in order to make a pass (once you catch up to a rider) you have to dive inside, square up a corner, and take their line. Otherwise you're doomed to follow them like a train until you finish in the same place you started once the checkered flag flies.
ON THE OTHER HAND, modern day Supercross is a more elite group of riders on tracks that usually allow many different line choices. My take on the Sorby/Preston issue is that Sorby got passed because he's slower (whether that's true throughout the season or just at this particular track). When he got passed, his competitive nature took over and when he realized that he couldn't beat Preston with speed, he decided to dive on the inside for a deliberate take out. It was unnecessary and disrespectful. That being said, I'm not contributing to the winers and saying that all contact should be policed and met with a warning or fine from AMA. In fact, I love contact on the track. Although, I prefer to see the contact that comes along with the kind of back and forth battles that gets your adrenaline flowing and fans out of their seats, not cheap take out moves.
Back in my day Holley, Juan Benevidez, Johnny Whelchel and Cris Heisser would take you out at a local race just to get a few more dollars, that was racing. Benevidez cleaned me out horribly at saddleback one time and I didnt bitch.
Todays riders are like the modern day quarterback for the NFL, if you hit them they wine like little girls.

As i said earlier i like to see some block passing and elbow rubbin' but when you say the riders whine because they get taken out etc. i can see their point. No real comparison to the old days when a few thousand were at stake, now its hundreds of thousands or millions lost if a rider is taken out or crippled for life. It is a very fine line between a bit of rough housing where no one gets hurt and using a bike as a weapon. When a rider pushes to the extent that a person is taken out for a season, life or is killed its a whole new ball game. Thats why there are rules and warnings etc. to prevent things from getting out of control and turning into roller ball. Think about it, if there were no rules it would be just plain crazy.

Sort of like Mario Andretti, Richard Petty and Ricky BobbyM.
You used Mario instead of AJ?
Blasphemy.

I don't see your point. You minimize those riders like Magoo, Shultz, Pomeroy, Lackey and BobbyM who risked life/limb(no pun intended) and those thru out the history of this sport to put it on the map, thus allowing those now to make huge sums of money, who whine and complain, instead of ever thinking of those who put this sport on the map for a few grand and less.
Uptite's right. Can't take the heat, get outta kitchen.
i think i saw him hauling ass at mammoth one year...i thought that guy kicked ass on a scooter. same guy i suspect...open yamaha?

Yes, that's it! Even better, why bother racing at all? Instead of going straight off the start just ram the guy next to you. Anything goes and the last man standing wins.
This is the kind of good old days shite that cracks me up. As Raddad patiently tried to explain it to you - "Think about it, if there were no rules it would be just plain crazy."
OBVIOUSLY, there have to be some rules. How much the rules allow is a balancing act that has to be made between too much and not enough.
Always has been
Pit Row
That's fine. Now define rubbin'.
Put it another way, what would not be allowed on the track? Or is it just anything goes ... a total free-for-all?

Just make the rules the same as a demolition derby and everything will work out just fine!
I think you hit the nail on the head right there.
So you're fine with anything goes?
You did post the following, did you not?
Of all the riders I can think of that gets the douche award its him. Cutting the track, [b:vdk8332j]taking riders out[/b:vdk8332j][/size:vdk8332j]. This has been going on since his douchness came to America. Without him, there is no drama so you can think of it like that. [b:vdk8332j]I dont think anyone will argue his tactics are less then sportsman like[/b:vdk8332j][/size:vdk8332j].[/quote:vdk8332j]
now please leave.

I am guessing your comprehension is low from your nuts being taken from you, why don't you read this.

We all ride with people we give a wide berth... oh wait. You don't ride do you. Quit pissing so much and go out and ride a bike. Race, I feel you are most guilty of this. Correct me if I'm wrong, when was the last time you rode a dirtbike with a motor?
Actually, you may want to check your own comprehension as I haven't complained at all, merely asked you what you consider acceptable riding. But you're afraid to answer it in this thread yet you complain about it in another.
I did state the obvious though, that you need some balance between how much contact you allow and how much you restrict. Don't feel bad Tiki, everyone else is afraid to admit it as well.
Ride? I rode Sunday practice at the Piru track a week ago. Probably one of three REAL motoheads out there on a 250 smoker. Guess you don't know shit about me.

Actually no Im not sensitive, I posted a response to your question. You took that sentence out of context and ignored I said this is drama of racing. People rub, people hit. Im not afraid to admit malicious foul play should be clipped. Thats just safety. I have seen guys ghost ride their bike into other lanes out of anger to hit another rider. As you mentioned the other day. A good ol' punch to the face in the pits usually solves that. Its the sole reason people tune into racing. To see a wreck, a collision a pile up. Sadly to see who wins comes second to that.
Im happy to know you are out riding. That at least answers that question for me and I know now you at least respect what they are racing for. I have ridden Piru, it was called Lemon Grove, shortly after it was closed.
Sorry I don't know shit about you. You didn't send the memo out. Its been noted now.
I see your smoker and I raise you one:
