I really want to go to another Vetfest, but the last time I went it was muddy as could be. It looked even worse this year from the pictures I saw.

I need some direction on a seat. Oem kills my tailbone. Anyone running the soft guts foam? I like oem height, not sure if I want stock shape or the wide flat foam.

I too want to try a different foam, but keep stock shape.. My ass feels like i bruised my tail bone after every ride. Every once in awhile on a steep seat bounce my ass makes contact with the edges of the hard plastic too and that sucks. I really do like the shape tho because it helps me roll in corners better rather than feeling stuck or tucked in.

anyone have the bike not start after letting it sit for 1-2 months? my buddies bike 23(all stock) would crank but not fire up.  I thought for sure it was the kill switch with water in it, since mine did the same thing and when i removed the kill siwtch it fired right up.  But we did that and it still would crank but not fire up, no blinking lights on the map switch, low hours.  Could a fuel pump go bad from sitting ?

First ride on my 2024 today

Overall happy, just wondering what to expect for "break-in" time in terms of frame / suspension?

Felt a litttle bit harsh today, but I have also gone up a spring rate front & rear (I'm 95kg)

I'm in that range now and yesterday the whole bike definitely felt more compliant.  Briarcliff prep was also bitchin so maybe that helped.

Here’s a kick in the ….

Went to change the oil in the forks and found this ding on the inside of the fork tube.  It’s deep enough  that it ground down the bushing.  Thankfully the lower tube has no damage.

Found a lightly used outer tube to replace it.

The joys of buying a used bike and being told it was all ‘good’.  Debating asking the prior owner but at this point it doesn’t matter what happened… the fix is the same.  IMG 1498 0.jpeg?VersionId=CRoLnhcBIhbDduFIMG 1499 2.jpeg?VersionId=IUpi1zN eHY399nVbai1N5O81

I see you are using the bushing from the Honda KYB era. They have a good price for sure and it's OEM quality. Yamaha makes a kit with bushings and seals worth the money also.

Our low hour 23 had the rear banjo bolt come loose on the caliper and lost the fluid, complete brake loss.  Look at a friends 23 and guess what fluid was starting to seep from his.  It was hot but not the hottest day we've raced for sure.  Find it odd two bikes have that issue on the same afternoon.

Anyone else had this happen?

I perhaps judged the AT82s too harshly. I ran the AT82 90/100 front tire on my 2024 KX450X yesterday and the tire was wonderful in the sand at 14 PSI. I'm definitely considering it for my 2024 YZ450F now. I had an impressive amount of stability on the edge of the tire even compared to the MX34. I didn't feel any real change to my steering, at times it felt a little heavier but stable. So definitely think I might grab one for my Yammie. I saw that Hunter Lawrence ran one at Budds Creek as well.

I ran mine yesterday for the first time and really liked it much better than the MX33. I have the 80/100 AT82 and ran my forks 5mm up in the clamps and it did great at 14 PSI.

I'm extremely impressed with how much better they are than the AT81. I would rather run street tires than use an 81 again. My only issue I found when running the AT82 in the soft direction out here in the soft sand is if I had the tire spinning up to much it wouldn't really grab the ground super good. Or if it did it would push the front on the initial on throttle transistion. If I was a little more patient and ran 3rd gear over 2nd, it would bite up so much better and would not overpower the front. Though this is more likely suspension and terrain related. I noticed my KX450X's doesn't really like until its spinning up really high. Then you can feel the swingarm and rear wheel really push down into the ground.

So I'm betting very much that on the YZ450F itll hook up a lot quicker, or just wheelie as the YZ450F likes to do lmao. Extremely fun either way, I have an MX14 hanging out for my YZ450F for an event coming up so I'm expecting a nice loop at some point.

Good eye!  Coming from an 09 crf450 that had KYB and I found these in my parts bin.  Was happy it’s one part I won’t have to buy.
price on Rocky Mountain
$15 = Oil seal and dust seal - Honda part number
$15 = oil seal only  - Yamaha part number

Needless to say I will be ordering the Honda part number for my replacement seals!

Yes this happened to a friend of mine on his 23. Rear banjo bolt came lose and lost some fuild and all the brakes lol yet to happen to my 23 but I should torque it down before it happens to me. His bike probably had 20-30 hours at the time.

Im having the same issue a few people referenced with the blue light staying on while the bike is off. I tried a new kill switch/button cluster, but it still does it. Has anyone encountered this or does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

The larger of the two connectors on the left side of the bike, just above and forward of the left radiator, is to blame. It gets water in it and the pins corrode. Pull that connector off and look at the pins. You’ll likely notice they are corroded and in need of cleaning. It’s an easy fix to clean them with some baking soda and water and maybe a small file. Preventing those from getting wet is what you should strive for going forward.

I put some silicone grease on the seals of the connectors. I also taped the ecu so water can’t get in there. Didn’t have any problems with electronics for the past 2 seasons. And I’m always using a pressure washer for cleaning…

Yes it happened to my sons 2023 YZ125 except ours was lost to the track gods. I purchased a new one and an extra as a spare. Fast fwd the next week and a young kid parked next to us had a 2023/4 YZ250F and lost his as well.

Looking for map suggestions with the following:

- twin air powerflow

- full FMF Ti

- VP T4

Please share which map you like and why.  I'm 45+ A/B on all motocross tracks.

Right, bike is settling in a bit after 4 hours or so

I think I started going in a wrong direction with bike by adjusting sag at the track (usually after a moto)

I spoke to my suspension tuner and he said to always do sag before riding, before the suspension gets warm?

Anyone else have any experience with this? Are you just going by feel at the track rather than measuring each time?

Always check sag when cold, preferably at beginning of each ride day once you’re geared up. Same routine every time is best. I believe Yamaha has an indent in the rear fender where they want it measured even. As your suspension breaks in, it’s very common to have to add preload and/or stiffen up the forks a click or two. Keeping good notes and knowing that starting point can help you pinpoint if it needs HS or a bit of preload, depending on track conditions and feel. I Sharpie mark the lower ring collar and usually work in half or full turn increments: Can always go right back where it was with good notes to fall back on…

29 hours in with a Powerflow and full Ti FMF pipe, but run 93 octane pump gas. I've tried almost all the maps out there and have come full circle back to the stock map being my favorite. I think this is because the FMF system seemed to smooth the power out for me (or I've just become more acustomed to the snappy feel of this bike) and it seems to pair well with the stock map with TC set at the first setting. When the bike was stock, I preferred some of the Keefer maps.

Sorry for all the suspension spam but having looked at my sag again (at home) I just can't get my numbers.

If I set my sag to 105 my static/free is around 22 🤔

I've gone up 2 spring rates from stock and now on a 60NM (which I think is about a 6.1KG/MM).

If you are reading this and are around 95-100kg (~210lbs) would you mind sharing what spring you are running?
