When I was a kid, i would get all worked up about my gate prep... As I got older I realized it was more habit than anything else... Dont care as much now, maybe Im just a little less concerned about needing it perfect. Hell last year I was late to the line, got the shittiest gate and ripped the holeshot.

Just saying.., a couple little rocks are not gonna do squat..

Could have thrown a rock back and struck another rider/person. Any one of a hundred different things could have happened. What if one of those rocks got between sprocket and chain? Super-stupid.

Really? Then why not let everyone just throw a few rocks down in front of the everyone??? Why don't the mechanics just drop a few rocks in the guys line next to his guy?? Why did Barcia and his mechanic make a scene about it?? It may not be a big deal to us weekend guys, but if the riders feel its a big deal, then I'm sorry, but it is.

yeah, but the rider or mechanic aren't permitted on that side of the gate to do any "grooming". Only the AMA officials can remove debis at their discretion.

I thought it was hilarious that he and his mechanic got so worked up? Did they think the gate was going to drop right when they hit the ground? I wasn't there but in my feable little mind, I HAD to believe that she'd pick them up before strutting off into the sunset, out of the way.

I thought their reaction was childish and rediculous.

So did the camera crew pick the rocks up? Would have been a lot easier to have a cool headed mechanic keep his rider focused on the race and when she was done ask her to pick the shit up if she started to walk...

I totally agree, when you pick your place on the gate you do so for a reason. Those rocks were not there when he chose that gate and to have someone come and make changes after you picked is not acceptable. Pro athletes are creatures of habit and to throw someone off like that is not right. It makes no difference if it did or didn't cause him to loose traction, It did cause him to loose concentration and his pre race routine and that hurts preformance.

absolutely, pro racing is all about details. wether they even impact a bikes performance, if it makes the rider feel more confident, they do it...and get a clue, these guys heart rates are maxed even before the gate drops, on carburated bikes Id be reaching down and checking if the fuel was turned on 3-4 times like a jittterbug....bottom line this isn't some WWF freakshow, this is professional sports and what she did was idiotic.
