How many years have we been looking at cookie-cutter SX tracks? The riders know when they show up that the triple is 60', the whoops are spaced the same, there will be a timing/rhythm section, the finish line jump takes this amount of throttle.

Now, FINALLY, they put in some elements that make the riders "pucker up" a bit and ruin the typical flow of the vanilla tracks of the last decade. I say thank you to whoever delivered the edict to shake things up a bit (and no, it wasn't James Stewart). I love the fact that a rider as talented as Reed might actually make a mistake (God forbid) in what was obviously a challenging, perhaps awkward obstacle and become human once again.

If you grew up when SX was evolving, you remember that you never knew what to expect on any given weekend. I'd like to see more of that. My 2 ¢.

Yes, it's great to see different track designs!

I liked the different track of Atlanta. I'll bet it wore the piss outta the riders. There seemed to be a lot more speed changes in that track than many. Those walls sure looked annoying as heck, too.

Agree. When McGrath was coming up, it was the latest thing to focus on smoothness, rhythm and timing. It was really cool to watch, and as a rider fun to get that flow going. For a couple years.

Now, it's really boring, and I love to see things get shaken up. When racers arrive at the track, they shouldn't already know the exactly how to do every section.

Pretty soon they'll be riding tracks that look like GNCC or WORCS tracks, and we'll say, "wow...what great racing!" <img class= " title="Laughing">

I think the tracks are boring as shit. They have a triple on each side of the stadium. They have a timing section-jump on jump off on each side of the stadium and then a whoops and finish line section. There all the same. They really need to start changing it up quite a bit. Big deal they put a wall up. It would of been better to see a long whoop section instead of a big wall because there was no passing in the whoops. They just need different style jumps. I understand why they do the same track on both sides of the stadium so everyone get's a similiar view but it's just getting really boring to watch.

Plus the rider designed tracks this year aren't much better because I am pretty sure they have to stick by certain rules when they design the track such as 2 timing section, 2 triples, a whoop section and of course finish line so there's not much give to fully design it the way you want.

They need to make the triples like A2, 75ft. There is no reason to have them at 65 still

And those ticket prices.........

I like the tracks that don't flow. I think they take away the edge that Reed has and maybe hand it over to someone like KW.

Agreed, it is about time we see some variety. Some interesting tracks so far. I know Dirt Wurx has touched on the subject before, but it will be really cool to see them start building some artificial elevation changes. Using modular styrofoam blocks and things like that. There are so many options with track design, its insane that we have fallen into such a rut with those cookie cutter tracks.

Remember the big quad they used to have at the Astrodome? The one that Albee stepped off mid flight at? If I remember right, he didn't get seriously hurt on that one. Anyways, that was a pretty big jump. I still liked Atlanta's layout. Not the same ol' same ol'...

I agree that it would be kool to see a change. But as usual, i have to mention what the other people who dis agree might say. For one, knowing what jumps to practice during the week allows the racing to be much safer for the riders come race weekend since they don't need to be guessing how to negotiate a certain section. Not to say that most of them wouldnt figure it out in a minute or less, but it might make it harder for the privateers? Or who knows, maybe it will actually level the field since many privateers dont have private SX tracks in their backyard (though it is becoming popular) like the top guys who basically practice freshly prepped courses every week..

Privateers? Look at the starting gates at SX these days and see how many actual privateers there are. Not many

It's great to see some non-traditional stuff on the tracks.
The racing is better, and the rider concentration has to be at a higher level.
