DEI is about ensuring those with the 'skills and talent' you preach have the opportunity to succeed.

Because currently its skills plus talent plus connections plus money plus who's your daddy plus where you live plus dealing with employers who 'can't see someone who doesn't look like every other person they have hired in that role' plus ensuring you don't have a disability or any other health issues that might change the process by which you achieve an outcome plus all the 'ism's plus...

You might think life and opportunities are only about skills and success but that's just you being completely ignorant of reality.

You have no clue what you are talking about.  Have you ever sat on the other side of the interview table (panel side)?  Have you ever seen your results get submitted to HR then find out who is walking thru the door as the new hire?  Pretty sad to watch the most qualified get turned away.

Notice they said largest private held. If I am reading the tea leaves correctly she may have been brought in to bridge the gap to Wall Street. They sit back and see what Vince did and they have gone full retard WWE already anyway..

That’s always a temptation.

Its possible they are looking more towards Dana and the UFC.

But he’s probably got some Vince moves up his sleeve 😆

Yep.  No doubt he has never been in an HR meeting for any size company who track "diversity".  What that really means is we need more of this and that and the best qualified candidate is no longer important.

I’ve been on the candidate side of it when I was pursuing a fire career.

Grateful it didn’t work out. Learned a lot about  reality since then 😉

Again you say ‘best’.  But ‘best’ is not specifically quantifiable - or else why have an interview process if ‘best’ can specifically be measured… why? Becuase ‘best’ is a judgement filled with bias.

DEI simply says leave your bias at the door and be open to talent that doesn’t look like you.

your intentions may be noble, but that's not what happens in practice. you're presenting a level of nuance lost on the corporate classes. sort of like how Christianity (or any religion) is one thing if you read the bible, but people apply it and perceive it in a completely different (and usually more destructive or degenerate) way in practice. Blackrock et al require certain quotas. Being generous to their intentions, they assume certain ratios will bear out based on some very naive and false assumptions (this is your position). being cynical, it's intentionally destructive, as it leads to a mixture of employees more willing to assent to their global 'heal-the-world' policies that really (again cynically) are only designed to increase scarcity among the masses and insulate the aforementioned elite from upheaval.

Purely a product of public education.  It is so disorientated and lacking in any practical real-life experience that it makes your head hurt just reading it.  Rest easy, pretty sure nepotism isn't in the cards for you...

I see a lot of "Feld" names in upper management/ BOD. Good for them. What's wrong with keeping it in the family? Seems to have been working the last 57 years.

I've never personally had the the one scenario happen to me (while i am positive it does happen though), but I have numerous times (4 separate people to be exact) had to show a boss's son how to do basic tasks while he is making significantly more than me, and had the title and pay of lead man given to someone else because "his dad is a good man" while the duties of lead man were specifically given to me because they self admittedly weren't capable of it.

Also had more than one boss specifically withhold a raise/chance of advancement from a black coworker, then later went on a rant about how gross it was that he had to share a bathroom with black people, and another boss complain that black people were allowed in his favorite bar. They were both directly involved in who was allowed to succeed.

Not saying your scenario doesnt happen, but it swings both ways.

Do you really think people only hire based of merit alone? Good luck in fairyland buddy, there’s so many factors that make up merit and most of it is the person choosing who to hire… and people have bias, humans are not computers man, we was are humans and being ‘qualified’ is not a test score…

I work in construction. We hire guys who have experience and know how. We don’t care what color you are. We hire purely off of merit. What world are you living in?

You might not, but others do. I'm a construction worker and I've seen it both ways. From pretty mild racism to full on Klansman type stuff.

Your sentence structure is all over the place (with so many parentheticals) with not paragraph breaks. Makes it hard to follow.

But are you saying a 128.02 billion dollar is what exactly? Only able to do it because of quotas? that qoutas insulate them from evil? Are you implying DEI is only wrong because it insulates the evil? That's a unique take I guess... But it's a weird take...

Am I getting this right? DEI allows a company to be more successful in its hoping to achieve... but the company is evil so it's not actually DEI, thye would have been this successful without DEI, but DEi means we dont think of Blackrock as evil... I mean I don't who doesn't see Blackrock as evil, the employees? would white employees see it as evil if they didnt have all that pesky diversity around them convincing destroying the world was good?

'it's intentionally destructive, as it leads to a mixture of employees more willing to assent to their global 'heal-the-world' policies' -- if they were all white they would 'assent' they would fight back -- but the 'mixture of employees' makes then 'more willing' -- You are something else...

And I mean they are somehwat valid points -- but an evil company will be evil with or without a DEI policy so its werid man

Wait, so if we are ignorant luddites, does that mean we get DEI priority in our future job hiring criteria?

It has to mean we are more qualified than just the average luddite, right? (:

Good luck to anyone trying to explain to a white American that they live in a white supremacist society.

Thinking this is the the norm is what is what makes someone an ignorant luddite.

Assuming they don't have personal bias makes someone an ignorant luddite.

Not understanding that DEI applies to far more than just race. In fact DEI, as defined by professionals in the field, is intended to correct inequities within an organization. This could include implementing accessibility measures for people with disabilities, correcting discriminatory hiring practices, addressing gender and racial pay inequities, anti-bias training and more. With many users on this forum being disabled its really quite fucked to argue against their inclusion in the workplace... quite fucked...

This makes you an ignorant luddite.

Unless you are scouring the globe for a specific person with a specific set of skills, you aren't hiring based off 'performance' you are hiring based off a biased assessment of whoever applies or you are hiring people you like or people you think you could get along with or friends or family... And if you are hiring a very specific person with a very specific skillset. Great. Cool. Good. Nearly all jobs are not this. So don't be an ignorant luddite.

A business, school, program establishes hiring standards they feel beset represent their company or school, etc.

Let's say top 10 scoring tests gets the job. All top 10 are white. Bottom 20 are of some color. The top 10 should get hired based on the standards and qualifications. Skin color should have no weight at all. Under DEI this doesn't happen, all top scoring white males aren't diverse enough.

Can't wait until Supercross gets DEI and a foreigner or colored rider wins the championship since he finished 5th place and the top 4 were white.....Gotta give them a chance and be diverse!

Feels like reverse racism.

Ironic that the NFL and NBA are all about DEI, except when it comes to their players?

The best athletes get hired to do their job, not one scout, team manager, or coach, says "we have to use DEI criteria when selecting the players for our team".

They don't give two shits what color, ethnicity, or gender- they just want the person who is best at their job.

It’s not reverse racism. It’s racism.

DEI IS PICKING THR LESSER CANDIDATE ON PAPER BECAUSE THE CANDIDATE COMES FROM A DIFFERENT RACE OR CULTURE, THAN WHAT IS COMMON IN THAT WORK FORCE.

WNBA owner gonna be like “if we get 2 trans chicks with dicks, we can pat ourselves on the back publicly for DEI street cred AND we can win championships!”

If they had the skills and talent, they wouldn’t need DEI.

DEI people play the victim card, masking their own discriminatory perspectives.

Do you really think people only hire based of merit alone? Good luck in fairyland buddy, there’s so many factors that make up merit and most of it is the person choosing who to hire… and people have bias, humans are not computers man, we was are humans and being ‘qualified’ is not a test score…

DEI is not victim hood at all.  The only people crying about DEI are the racists who feel they are missing out…

Okay misogynist. Why can’t you be happy for a successful woman? You’re unbelievable.
