I like Ben, seems like a nice kid. But with all the injuries, it is reasonable to expect some results before using the "c" word. Reminds me of Lamson getting his feelings hurt when they didn't say that a young RC would have his hands full with Lammy in the `98 outdoors. As if..

This place cracks me up....Ezra Lusk saying he might come back and some of you say he can be top 5 in sx. You take a shit on a take that says he would be lucky to qualify.

Townley coming back after a short time off the bike compared to Lusk and the general thought is he has been off the bike to long to be a contender??

I just don't get this place sometimes...

Some people think two-strokes would be competitive against four-strokes, too.

Props to MXA and to matthes. Basher is in a place to call him out after hooking up with some big exposure, I could see if the write-up never happened then it might be an issue. He is using his position with MXA as a vehicle to make amends with BT, whats so bad about that? He didnt stoop to BT's prima donna level, he apologized and wished him well, end of story.

I would bet on Lawrence for a title before Townley. So what if MXA left him off the list, its not like they explicitly said they think hes NOT going to win the title? Some of these guys need to deflate ol' ego just a bit.

I don't get BT either. He was my buddy when he was doing well at PC and I even helped him get a Kicker deal when he called me to ask if I could.

Then I write a few things about his injuries, make a joke about needing to be wrapped in bubble wrap and he stops talking to me. Won't return calls, won't talk to me at the races, kind of acts like a baby. After talking to Coppins and his buddy at KTM, they both confirm that he gets butt-hurt easily.

I don't think anyone can say at this point that he's a title contender with all that he's been through but it'll be interesting to see how he does for sure. I'm pulling for him, it'll be a great story if he can do it.
you fucking think moto journalist/writers have big egos? Smile compared to pro scooter racers it wouldn't make a zit on a whales ass.

as with most athletes, the ego comes supersized and from the expansion of the big ego the skins got no place to go but thin.

townley sounds fucking immature, i mean fuck...at least act like yer feelings weren't hurt for christ sakes.

He isn't a title contender, he has missed a ton of races and winning some warm up races doesn't prove anything. He has a long way to go before he can honestly think he is a contender. Top 5-10 I would think is his range. No need for him to get pissed at reporters either dude is fragile and its no secret. BT needs to relax and just let his riding prove what he is capable of.

Not trying to start a stink fest but saying a racer is "fragile" is just silly. People have been killed from little nothing get-offs and others have walked away from "OH SHIT" crashes. Just plain old luck of the draw. I'm sure BT hasn't hit the ground any more or less than any one else...just unlucky. Not a matter of if you get hurt...just when. Ask RV, MA, JS, CR, RC.......

Pretty dumb not to mention BT as a title contender, he hauls on a 450 and has big championship experiance on that machine.
IMO BT is not a title contender. The guy has not mattered for 3 yrs. When people mention BT it is always was and use to be. The guy WAS and USE TO BE fast as hell but is made of glass.

He might want to get over himself because this is it for him.

When was the last time any one of those dudes got hurt and didn't even crash like BT did? And when I say fragile I mean more likely to get hurt which some people are. BT has had some bad luck but look at Broc Hepler you would also say he has had some bad luck and is more then likely to get hurt over another rider when he crashes. Unlucky like you said I guess

Can't wait for Ben Townley to rip up the Nationals and make all you doubters eat your hats.
They don't give world championships away on the side of your box of cherrio's!

BT WILL have the speed outdoors, hopefully he will stay in one piece.

That being said, did it ever occur to any of you that he's using it as motivation? Tons and tons of athletes search for one little negative thing and focus on proving the person wrong. They get themselves to feel disrespected and get hyped up to prove them wrong. The guy wants to ride with a chip on his shoulder, nothing wrong with that. I doubt, Matthes, that deep down he dislikes you or MXA, he just wants to make you eat your words.

fickle bunch aren't y'all....... two reporters (both of whom have fallen out with BT) write about how they fell out with him (in their opinion) and suddenly BT's a "whiny bitch"

yea.... because their word is gospel.....Huh

Townley had an awesome interview on DMXS last night and is still one of my favorite riders, especially after hearing him again last night.

He's been through a lot and I think Matthes and Guy B both have valid points. He's been injured a ton and has yet to put together a solid 450 season but the guy has always had a ton of heart and that means something to me as a fan.

I remember some of those epic battles with Poto outdoors and hope to see that same intensity this year. Ben is a human being and maybe he's tired of being slammed on and if he chooses not to talk to you them so be it. I agree that we have to stop calling them bad guys if they don't want to do an interview. I'm just stoked he's back racing in the U.S.

I know I wouldn't be too happy if some desperate for MX "buddies" reporter was at the track smiling, waving, and taking pictures while I'm trying to work. Call me a homophobe.

Basher and Matthes haven't done anything wrong.

Ben sounds like a prima donna - shit, he hasn't raced for two fucking years!

Ben should follow Hepler and head back to school. His MX days are close to over - he knows it and is having problems dealing with the reality of it all. Imagine working your whole life and never making it to the top - seriously depressing, especially with all those injuries.

Basher is GUESSING that is the reason why BT was upset. He wasn´t told why apparently so I can´t see why he should assume enough to write this BS

I think BT i more fired up than ever! I can´t wait for him to kick ass this summer.

Lol @ comparing BT to J-law. As opposed to J-law, BT has actually accomplished things as a rider. J-law has one good race and people pick him for championships the next 5 years.

fuck dude, if winning a world championship, winning a lites sx title, and then pushing RV harder than anyone did on a 250F (and winning more overalls) is not making it to the top, then all but about 10 riders in the world should stop racing and go back to school, because by your standard Alessi should give up as well, as he has done nothing like that,

Some of you guys need to read the entire exerpt from what Basher wrote. Being a personal friend to him, I know Basher is a friendly guy. He is friends with BT. He even said that. Basher didn't do anything wrong so u guys can back off.

The way BT acted was unnecessary. He hasn't proved himself in the 450 class. Its not his fault because of the injuries, but its the truth. He definitely has the potential and raw speed to run with those guys but based on the past few years you can't put him up there. I am rooting for him too because, as a fan, I think he can shock people.

So hold your comments on what I think of BT.

Ok now you take it easy guy, i agree with what most people have said on here about Ben, agree with GuyBs comments, and somewhat agree with Mathes and Basher too! But you hve taken it way over the top to say that Ben's mx days are "over"...you don't sound too smart saying that...anyway guys, carry on...
