Talking AMA MX only, right now he’s on pace to have that title on his mantle. DNGR is sitting on 5 wins & 7 podiums, with 3 races to go.
RC currently has the best year 2 imo in 1998 with 8 wins & 9 podiums. (12 races)
Other honorable mentions include Stew in 2003. Won all 7 of the races he entered, but didn’t get the championship so that’s kind of a weird one, definitely some of the most blinding speed ever witnessed though.
RV in 2007 got 5 wins & 11 podiums outta 12. Won the title, but was arguably not the best guy that year a couple freak things happens to Townley.
Deano in 2011 got 3 wins &11 podiums and J Mart in 2014 got 4 wins & 10 podiums. Both had 12 rounds and they both had great title winning years.
Jett in 2021 got 4 wins & 8 podiums outta 12. 3rd best guy that year, but the other two crashed and he got the title.
Just something cool to keep an eye on in these last 3. I think he’ll at least get 2 wins and 3 podiums which would make for a very compelling argument between him and RC.
wht was pourcel’s 🤔 i vaguely remembered his stint’s , might gotta go to the racerx vault later on today
Holy smokes is this all wrong. In 07 RV won way more Moto’s then Townley. If it wasn’t for a DNF at Unidilla RV wins that title rather easily.
J Mart won 5 races in 2014 not 4.
Jett in 21 couldn’t buy a start and moved up every race, the only other guy who could do that was J Mart on the Star 250 and like most years couldn’t stay healthy and Yard Sailed cause of Jett. Full points for that one, J mart was flying that day.
Deegan is killing it this year but unlike RC he isint sweeping rounds due to small crashes and one big one. “Only” has 7 moto wins. That’s the argument against to Deegan vs RC, but Deegan is ahead of Jett at this point in their careers at least outdoors.
Baggett 2011 ?
Deegan the best California kid since Baggett?

More HawkTuah for little Deegan..
The butthurt is strong in this thread....
😆
No mean words on the podium this week but the anti-Deegans will downvote anything with his name on it
…..\/ insert downvote here
Deegan has 54 points on Vialle, if he wraps up the title a round early it would be badass if he raced a yz125 at Ironman. That would make his season even more awesome.
Marty Smith's 1975 season was probably the best 2nd pro season that I can think of.......
I'm sure that there are a few other incredible ones out there, though.
I'd probably have to put RJ's second season very close to the top as well, as he did it in the premier class instead of the 125s. He probably would have won the title with just a couple more spokes than he finished with.........
Lol, no one is butthurt except you. The original post makes no sense at all. RC had 15 moto wins in 11 races his 2nd year. Deegan currently has 7 moto wins with only 6 motos to go...even if he wins out he will not match RC's win total.
Villopoto had 13 moto wins in 11 races in 2007 so, at best, Deegan can tie him if he wins out. And seeing as Deegan has only won 1 moto out of the past 7 I'd say that's extremely unlikely
Oh and James Stewart won every single moto he entered in 2003. He won 14 motos in a row....Deegan won't even reach that number over a full season. So no, Deegan is nowhere close to having the best 2nd season in Motocross. He's not even top 3
I was hoping he would move up for a race.
Or the 450 class and smoke Hunter.
I had actually thought that 2003 was JS's third season, but anyone who saw him in the 7 races he raced in the 125 class was fortunate to see the most dominating performance imaginable. He was on another level, and it's amazing that he was barely over a moto's worth of points behind the champion after 7 races when they had raced 11. The only way to really judge speed and talent is against the current competition and that was simply complete domination in every possible way.
Uhhhh james stewart?
I hear ya on the 450 class, i just thinkbthe 125 would be more interesting given the opportunity. I dont think a 125 would give up too much at ironman as its fairly flat and flowy and theres usually a good flat run up to the uphill jumps.
.
Funny that's the face you chose for the meme because you look like an absolute clown in this thread
Such a shocker that a dumb, inaccurate post is being downvoted, lol. Don't know what point you think you're making
Pit Row
Haha I was just about to call him a clown as well, he has to be trolling at this point, right? He can't be THAT delusional...or maybe he can.
The title of the thread is a statement saying Deegan IS having the greatest sophomore season in history, and then the dude literally proves the thread title incorrect in the body of the first post.
The fact everyone refutes his claim makes them haters apparently.
Once again nobody is saying anything super negative about Deegans season, yet they are hAtErS, right?
No downvote, but I'll just say I'm not anti-Deegan, I'm just pro-facts and his sophomore season isn't as good as others.
This guy below gets it.... but keep going off the reservation there skippy.
J Mart was winning the title against Jett until his dumb hand injury..
You don’t have a meaningful response and you know it so just keep putting up these posts showcasing your clown behavior, we’re here for it
Wasn’t a comment toward you, just a general comment lol
It was a thing to behold, at the time. I absolutely loved watching him that season. Such an impressive series of performances all season.
Didn't he either wreck or get buried in like every first turn that year, so all of those results were coming from deep in the pack?
Yer had no luck at all and still over come it was an unbelievable year his raw speed was insane, baring the obvious ones that year stands out to me !
....and you were spot on.
its not that we dislike Danger, folks like you just make it easy to dislike him after putting out BS like this. I think he's an amazing rider, and everytime he says some stupid stuff, its an act to get folks talking. It works, and I think he's brilliant and just knows the game.
BTW, someone said he is above Jett as far as careers? Uhhh arent they close to the same age? Also, this crazy riding style aint going to work in his favor on 450's, that's why Jett has been so prosperous.
Woulda, shoulda, coulda. And because I know this if your favorite one, "If Eli didn't tear his achilles!"
This response is going to confuse the $&%# out of Magoo, since he definitely thinks I'm a hater lol....
There have been a few guys with "crazy riding styles" who did pretty dang well on 450's, so the blanket statements saying he needs to change don't really work.
RV was an animal. Tomac is a legend. RC is probably the best example.
Deegan will most likely need to adjust a little, but I think he'll be just fine on the big bike.
