Bring back little trucks!!!

I keep eyeing marketplace for a dirt cheap truck or wondering when the price of Mavericks will come down, also nervous about the Maverick's reliability.

Once again why RC4 will always be one of my favorite riders.

I would love to find a 99 tacoma

Always want what you can't have. I understand for people that do serious 4x4ing, swapping a VW TDI into older Tacoma's isn't uncommon, I grew up in aus and live in north america now, I'll keep my Tacoma over a Hilux any day

It's hard to imagine why auto manufactures wouldn't consider making small size trucks again. Motorcycle manufactures have found success selling smaller displacement bikes because they are more affordable, a small truck would be the same and they could be considered more environmentally friendly with smaller engines and better fuel economy being lighter weight. I bet High School kids would see them as cool and great started vehicles. Kind of an old school cool vibe. Plus they are super convenient. Bring back the Ford Rangers, and Chevy S10s and the Tacoma 100s! I'm here for it. 

I was bummed when I saw the new Chevy colorado when it came out, not because it wasn't a nice truck and super cool but I was hoping for it to be a throwback to the smaller pickups when I heard they were making a "small size" pickup again. 

I agree I have a Colorado right now and would like to get a newer style.  I just can't stomach 20-30k for a small truck to get something decent.  That's more than I paid for my 3/4 ton Cummins in 2003.  We found my boy a sweet S10 about a year ago, glad we did it's the perfect little truck and it's manual.  If I could buy an S10 manual or auto with window cranks and power nothing for 15k I'd be at the dealer tomorrow to buy one new.

But anyway The dealer bought the terrain one back after a month and i drove way with the cactus gray one and a little profit.

They've been msrp most states awhile now. The added markup with Fords and all other makes was a bunch of crap. Few dealers still play that game but can't do it on a special order. MSRP

Actually you could always have gotten a mav at msrp.  Orders now arrive much faster. Friend ordered 2 months ago, just arrived.

What year is that ZR2? I ordered one of those new from the factory in 1998 with the 5 speed manual. The salesman looked at me like I had 3 heads, couldn’t believe I wanted a manual over an auto. One of the very few that were built.

That 4.3 had enough power for its day but I never liked how the rpms would hang up high between shifts. Made shifting awkward at least for me it seemed. Always wondered if it just needed a re-flash but I didn’t know much about computers then and never thought to ask.

That's a 2002.  I had a 96 that was just a normal 2wd with the 4.3 and 5 speed it was a great little truck went forever.  I remember driving a ZR2 when I was going to upgrade and didn't like it.  I agree the ZR2 doesn't shift as good as when mine did.  My boy drives short distances to school and work though so no big deal. I ended up buying my 2nd gen Cummins that I still have now.  

Its based of the Bronco Sport that's been around since 21. Those seem pretty relaible.

It’s an absolute tragedy that our supreme leaders have legislated a truck like this out of existence in the US, don’t blame Toyota blame the dipshits in Washington who think every vehicle needs a backup camera, surrounding sensors, and 15 airbags (and before any Karen’s jump down my throat just know that these “improvements” have made zero difference in the number of accidents nationwide).  I’d be at the dealer tomorrow with cash if they ever imported this truck.  

If it were available here, at that price, with A/C that works, I’d buy one tomorrow. 

Heat ac, radio and locks maybe better lights and im goin to the races in my lil tuk tuk!

Isn't there a way that you can import vehicles into the country from elsewhere?  I am guessing the fees would just be so high it would make it not feasible to do?  

I saw the new tacoma and they are ridiculously big.  Looks as big as the first gen tundras.  and a top of the line model is $75,000 before fees, how is that possible?

After 25 years they are exempt from the import taxes in light duty trucks and safety standards, until then you are SOL as far as I know.  

I don't know what I'd do without our caring and compassionate overlords protecting me from these dangerous vehicles.  Oh wait, ya I do, I'd be driving down the highway in my new mini truck happy as fuck on my way to do whatever the hell I wanted with it that day.  One can dream. . .

I really want a Maverick. Are you guys running the hybrid or the ice?

Hybrid.  Empty bed as good as 48 mpg.  With up to two bikes in the bed it drops to 39ish mpg on the highway.  On 13.5 gallon tank the best I have gotten out of the Maverick is 645 miles.  Really happy with the truck and it gets my bike to where I can ride.

I've dealt with bringing vehicles not available for sale in US market into the country for testing purposes for my job, its an absolute nightmare. There are certain exemptions around the NHTSA/EPA regulations, but they're for set time bound periods of time, and vehicles must be crushed (with photo proof of the destroyed vehicle), or removed from the country through a port with documentation to prove.

That sounds like a dream. I’m currently towing my bike behind a crosstrek and I hate it. Just want to have a truck again. Maybe I can convince the wife in a few months 

Yea the mav hybrid is the only way to go. The engine/trans was developed by toyota

I'd rather have the extra OOMPF of the 2.0 ecoboost and AWD for light trails etc.

4000 miles so far and 30mpg. Been hot here for awhile now so run the AC constantly, best ac i've ever had in a vehicle. city. Came with street tires, bought slightly larger AT tires this week. MPG might drop by 1 mpg we'll see. We do 80%highway, 20%city.

The standard 2.5L produces a combined 191hp and 173lb-ft. of torque.

An all-wheel drive (AWD) version of the Maverick is available if you opt for the upgraded 2.0 EcoBoost engine. The 2.0 EcoBoost is a turbocharged inline-4 that produced 250hp and 277lb-ft. of torque. The EcoBoost makes the Maverick a lot more capable performance and drivable. 0-60mph times go from 7.7 seconds with the 2.5L down to 5.9 seconds with the EcoBoost.

If you tow more than 1500# you'd want the 2.0. (I never will so didn't get the tow package)

The 2022 Ford Maverick comes with two different tow ratings. Trucks with the base 2.5L I-4 hybrid drivetrain come rated to tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds. Mavericks with the optional 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine also come with a base tow rating of 2,000 pounds. However, EcoBoost trucks have the option of adding on Ford's 4K Tow package, which costs $745. When selected, the 4K Tow package, you guessed it, increases the towing capacity of EcoBoost Mavericks to a maximum of 4,000 pounds.

So yeah if i didn't want the extra power, awd  etc maybe Hybrid would of been the only way to go (or a greenie)
