Which full exhaust and slip-on will provide the best performance improvement? I am most interested in increasing the bottom-end or at least not hampering it. I like the idea of the Akropovic for reduced noise levels as a slip-on, but I have a hard time accepting the aesthetics of the header pipe. I have a friend selling a new FMF 4.1 slip-on for half off new. I could always purchase the header pipe.
Curious to hear which brand I would get the most bang for the buck out of.
Thanks guys.
Very interested in this too, Swap mentioned in the 25 350 video that he has tested all of them and found one that out performed the OEM … and then didn’t say which one 😂🤷♂️
I've never noticed any actual performance gain from an aftermarket exhaust.
Yoshimura
I was hesitant to buy I pipe for my 23 350sxf after all I've heard about them not making any difference. A guy I trust told me the akro slip-on with insert removed makes a noticeable difference. So I got one and was very pleasantly surprised. With insert in it was basically like stock power but very quiet, with insert removed it had noticeable more snap down low and also had a very pleasant note which wasn't too loud.

I like the akro on the 450 since it's quiet and doesn't make your head explode from the noise so you can ride harder
I bought a used 23 that already had a full FMF system. For kicks I put the OEM pipe and header on since it came with the bike. While the FMF has an improved response from mid to top, it’s nothing extreme or earth shattering.
I did put the FMF back on but there is no way I’d ever spend that much money for a marginal gain that I’m honestly probably not ever really going to need as a mid-pack old guy.
And what about 23+ 250sxf as long as we are talking exhaust
I have the Akro slip on and I think it has a little smoother roll on off idle and more pull from mid to top. It is definitely quieter.
What I would like to know is what is different about the Akro full system vs the slip on? I assume they sound about the same.
That is why I just go with whatever sounds cooler
Hey Smith... just picked up a '24 and deciding what to do (stock, slip, full-system). I had an Akrapovic slip on (at the advice of Keefer) on my last '21 GG 350 and liked it. Nothing earth shattering, but I enjoying the look, sound, and power up top. Now that you had some time with it, do you still feel that it's worth the price? Would you do it again, or go full system/ stay stock?
I would definitely do the Akro slip on again. If you've got money to burn I'd go the full system but if not the slip-on is enough. Ive got over 60hrs on mine now and it's still holding up very well. Other pipes I've had looked trashed after alot less hrs than that so I'm very pleased with the Akro.
I was told by Twisted that they got the best results from the Yoshimura. Derek Harris (HP Race Development) also said it’s an excellent choice. If I recall, he also said the FMF was a great choice too. I COULD be wrong on it being an FMF, but there was another he mentioned and I’m pretty sure he said FMF.
I chose a Yoshimura and also went with a GET ignition.
full Akro make for a very linear pull, it works really well, but the OEM is better off the bottom and has more torque over all with less over rev!
If your going to spend that kind of money upgrade the ECU. The ktm exhaust is really good. Unless you just want some bling.
Vortex is better money spent. The exhaust is only good for weight and sound. Not for power gains.
FMF is a no-brainer for me. Best looking, Made in the USA, big supporters of the sport, and I have noticed an improvement when combined with the vented airbox cover and either powerflow kit or 2-stroke filter cage. Also may not be something you'd spend the money for on it's own but there is a significant weight savings as a bonus.
