I guess it’s not public, but I’d be curious to know how many riders have TUE’s for things..

if guys are going as far as using smelling salts on the line, I bet there is other things they are trying, “legally”

I believe it was Carmichael that would eat an entire sleeve of Rolaids on the starting line before each moto.

A TUE just makes no sense that it is ok to use it then.....  Crazy planet.  Sideways

Don't ask people to call names in this little niche world. Do you want products or "sicknesses" that is something we can talk about. Just like in other sports there are riders who have "Exercise-induced asthma" and are able to use inhalers sometimes with steroids in it. "ADHD" seems also an interesting sickness, from E-Sports to sports as ours where staying focused is important. It gives sport people a clearance to use amphetamines.

Another one that should be monitored better (because of the health of the riders) is cortisone. With a TUE you can get a injection on Thursday and race on Saturday.

ADHD is a weird one, the fact that it isn't a blood test or determination but a psych evaluation is what puts it in a strange category... But the leveling effect of the drugs is real, and so many people would have such different and more 'successful' lives if they were diagnosed earlier, or maybe not because they would have 'levelled' out earlier...

To me I think of it like weight. There's skinny people who never think about their weight, eat what they want when they are hungry and thats it and there fat people that spend a lifetime 'trying' or at least 'thinking constantly' about the food they eat, coming up with failed plan after failed plan to lose weight and yet they are constantly called 'lazy people.' We are each born with a different chemical make up and the way out body releases chemical/hormones etc etc etc... and something like Ozempic can give an overweight person the eating habits of an unthinking skinny person... Just like ADHD medication can give someone with ADHD the concentration levels of someone without ADHD...

But they aren't yet able to properly test for they chemical/hormone releases so it's shady...

But I don't think we would have ever got JS7 without the adderal he needed to concentrate... 24 and 0? no way!

Ask Tony Alessi.

Look at cycling  and the Olympics.   I'm  sure a lot of riders are on stuff and werein the past.  No way our sport is the only clean sport.

I think USADA is pretty lax (corrupt), so probably many for relatively minor stuff. Asthma meds, legal speed, corticos etc.

Smelling salts, the new gateway ped. Next thing you know you’ve got a needle in your ass.

I heard from a reasonable source that at one point half of the SX gate was on Adderall or the like, legally with a TUE.

That wouldn't surprise me only because amphetamines were so ridiculously overprescribed for such a long time. That's due to medicine run amok, not PED abuse.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a fair amount of abusers of that system as well.

Man, I could always run faster, jump higher, climb farther, out moto and out breakdance any mother fucker on the street.  I had no idea it was because I had asthma.  I wander if my inhaler is the reason my dick is so big.

Important to note that the inhalers with steroids contain corticosteroids, not anabolic steroids. Inhaled corticosteroids are NOT performance enhancing. It simply decreases airway inflammation.

I've seen inhalers used in Cat 1 mountain bike cross country races by  kids that it wasn't prescribed to to help get an advantage on the start and or first lap to open up the lungs.

I have a friend who has adderall prescribed and it is “a human cheat code” per his words. Says it makes him about twice as effective across the board.

only downside is he is drug dependent now. Idk. Wild stuff.

i had a schemic stroke in 21' and basically lost some cognative  ability. I was offered provigil(modinifil) as trial/error to see if it helped me or improved my brain fog issues. holy shit where was this stuff when i was racing? lol. i'm guessing its similar to adderall type med and if so its absolutely cheat code. if i take one in the morning i'm a machine at gettin stuff done and i got half of my brain basically dead. i couldn't imagine what i could do if i had a healthy brain.

We're kidding ourselves if for some reason we think our sport is "clean" while performance enhancers are used across the board everywhere else.  Where there's testing,  there's ways around it.  I'd never paint everyone with the same brush, but guys come off the track in 90 degree heat after a moto barely breathing hard.  Of couse hard consistent training, but sometimes there's a little help.

The benefit of extra testosterone is bigger than people realise, both with training, and recovery.  Then you add some other compounds and you feel superhuman.
