The PW50 is essentially an entry level bike so don't fit it if it ain’t broke. That concept has worked since the 1st year in 1980

biggest change was 1985 to 1986 when the plastic tank a shrouds made it look like a water cooled bike.

I think the op was referring to 2 stroke larger models and probably does not know YZinger was the an actual model years ago.

In 1992 YZinger was discontinued and the PW50 was born.

My guess is updated front fenders and number plates for the 2 strokes. New YZ white rhombus design in the graphics. That's it. They know they don't need to mess with perfection.

Is it two years ago now that the 125 got an update after being untouched since 2005 more or less. So wait minimum 10 years until you see a TBI on the YZ. It’s a bigger chance that the Japanese pull the plug on the two strokes before you see a update that big.

Do they need to go TBI?

According to the internet folks are having all sorts of problems with the TBI Austrian bikes....however, I have several buddies that own them and have had zero issues, not sure what to believe at this point.

90% of the reason I have a YZ instead of an Austrian bike is because it has a carb. They don't need electric start either. Maybe for the X model but not the MX bikes. Keep them simple, light, and quick.

I've owned three TBI's and had no issues with any of them, still have a '24 TX300. I have three riding buddies that have owned some as well. One guy had his fuel pump stop working at 10hrs on a '24 TE300, he replaced it with one from ebay and hasn't had any issues since. I think a lot of the TBI issues are very hit/miss, which given all the tech those bikes have I guess it just comes with the territory. Theirs also the caveat that some people just don't know how to take care of stuff too. I also have a 2020 YZ250X, but I prefer to just use it for racing only, the TX is my go to when trail riding just because of the e-start.

Will they at least update the horrid stock jetting on the 125?

Until there is a constant FI monitoring and adjusting from the exhaust readings like our cars it will never end.  With running a carb and with a 2 stroke oil clogging the censor monitoring makes it virtually impossible.

How to the crazy expensive outboard race boat engines accomplish it?  I think it can be done but may not be cost effective for the consumer.

Because race boat motors are constantly being rebuilt and replaced? Its about the life span being so short.

You know its like people today being passed off because the 2 stroke fouls a plug ….. you know like they have always done. Same thing with the exhaust sensor getting fouled.

want to be a billionaire? Invent and patent a sensor that is self cleaning. Boom your filthy rich!

I'm convinced they will not until there are more engine changes. They've already dedicated the R&D to the current setting, which seems to be ok with A-level and up riders.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if they went back to the Mikuni, but I still don't see that happening anytime soon.

Funny you mentioned fouling plugs, it made me remember my 2016 yz250, I had it for four years & never fouled a plug, I think I changed the plug one time just cause I felt guilty! 😂

Every 2 stroke rider carries a spare spark plug and the wrench.

My YZ was jetted spot on but I still replaced or cleaned the plug with a sand spark plug blaster tool 2 or 3 times a year.

2-3 times a year is overkill unless your jetting is off. I change my spark plug once a year just because. It is otherwise ignored and runs flawless.

I've never fouled a plug on any bike in 30 years of riding.

I am more of an offroad guy so I would love to see a E Start and Hydro Clutch, but I prefer the carb.

Smile and I do not wait until the crank fries and the piston shatters before replacing those either. A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I was scared to death of not having complete control of the jetting on my 1st FI too but it worked out.

the newer FI 2 strokes had lots of bugs to work out and

No one touches my bike except me and I don't "wait" for anything. Top end 40 hours, crank 100-150. Transmission inspected and rebuilt  as necessary when cases are split.

Spark plugs are the least of my concern on my perfectly jetted YZ250. Yes, there's always one in the toolbox at the track... You know, just in case I foul one in the NEXT 30 years.

Gawd, please NO

(Granted, the current front fender is super ugly, but it’s at least better than then the stupid yzinger front of the YZF)

It's grown on me since seeing it on Lesher's bike. I'm converting mine over before this weekend. Funny enough, I did the same thing with my '16 (upgraded to the current design, which is the last gen YZF front end). Now I'm doing the same with the '23.
