James is by far the best motocross commentator since David Bailey. Not even close. His voice, knowledge, honesty and humor are something that's been missing for a long time. No disrespect to any of the others but it's so good to have James in the booth.

James does a great job, no doubt, but not even in the same league as David Bailey.
My vote is w/JS7.
Bailey was very insightful but Stewart bring a bit more emotion which IMO adds to the entertainment value.
Nonetheless, so glad he’s in the booth!
Both winners & legends in our sport…… I can appreciate both for who they are and their unique perspectives….I enjoyed when they rotated former champions in the booth, they each have their own take….
Langston definitely did the job justice. Bubba and db seem more down to earth than anyone though.

I appreciate Stew being honest & transparent when he's calling the races - he's not afraid to tell it like it is, rather than just throw out a bunch of cookie-cutter phrases that add no actual insight.
Bailey was a whole other level though, IMO - he brought a combination of eloquency & expertise that I don't think we've seen in this sport since. I could see AC filling that kind of role - he obviously has racing experience, but seems to be a very intelligent person that can articulate better than the average dude.
Get them both in the booth at Budds Creek
Stewart does an incredible job for sure.
In my opinion he has joined the Mt. Rushmore of MX/SX commentators.
In no particular order: Stewart, Bailey, Emig, Johnson...
And add Broc Glover with them.
Yes, this!
Bailey's, "wait, what? when the iconic Bubba Scrub was shown was unforgettable.
James is awesome. By far my favorite. The way he picks the handling of the bikes and riders body language apart is so interesting. Yet he still says funny stuff to keep it entertaining.
I loved it when he brought up that it was 4 and 7 battling for the win again.
Hold Aaron, hold on.
Just cant wait to see Adam in the booth. Very humble guy with great experience with speaking and knowledge of the sport.
How about a Finding Stew sequel. Weege replaces Mathes (because sequels never the complete cast as the original), Weege and AC find Stew in the booth and join him for the rest of the summer.
I was pondering James commentating yesterday, I wonder how or why his slight, anti-Chase attitude changed recently.
Ever since it was mentioned here a month or two ago it almost seems like.....
Anyway, I have to admit, I enjoy his takes, in that he isn't afraid to call it like he sees it, where Ricky and Fro were a lot more careful not to upset anyone.
However, I am not that fussy and don't mind Ricky either. They ALL make mistakes in the heat of the moment and I just presume its a pretty tough gig. Even though I do yell and argue with them.
I don't know why you guys get so upset, I think it's great being able to correct them or point things out they miss, my 9 year old thinks I'm a genius!
Not too often you get that validation in life
I love James but sometimes I feel like he needs to make a point and be silent for a second. He keeps going on and on. BUT he is very good and 1000x a better commentator than Ricky.
I am partial because I grew up listening to Bailey and Ekman. Nothing will be better than those two guys for me.
Do you mean former motocross racer or commentator?
I absolutely agree.
Glover is a natural at it.
Pit Row
James has some very good insights but you thinking he is the "best" is mostly indicative of how bad previous commentators have been, rather than how good James is. James, like most motocross riders, speaks like someone who never graduated high school. He needs some serious speech therapy and to read a thesaurus before bed each night.
With the way kids are brought up with racing these days.. home schooled, living in facilities, isolated from the real world, and only socialising amongst other people in our sport, that how it’s going to be..
Despite those reasons, James is excellent at what he does..
David was 100% better than James. I wan’t the race called, not a wannabe comedian that give the riders silly nicknames and try to work that in to the broadcast. That part is so annoying and just make the production look bad compared to serious motorsports.
I like James but Bailey is 100% better.
I gotta disagree. I like the humor and he brings some badly needed personality to the announcing. I think James is a great balance of insight and personality. I hope he's around for a while.
I don’t think JS7 was talking trash about Chase. What James was saying in the races was what was actually happening. You know we all expected chase to tuck the front last week but he didn’t. JS7 just knows chase riding style and he gave Chase all the credit for his epic ride last weekend. Definitely looked like chase has found a setup and that is great for all of us fans.
Ditto. He does this more so than any other rider in the media today (RC, RV, ect...)
I love his explanations of how the bike is working and what more or less rebound would have an effect for example.
Keep it up James!
People on here and around were commenting last year about how hard on Chase he was. Most felt it must have stemmed from their training session falling out previously.
It definitely felt like he was being overly critical at times but this year has totally disappeared...maybe he just felt like he knew Chase better and could be like that and then from various comments realised maybe he shouldn't...dunno.
They are both different, not wrong, just different.
Bring back Grant Langston. The way he was treated by the covid-cult is a black mark on motocross.
Enjoy!
