There hasn't been a ton of talk about Eli going pro at Hangtown. How do you guys think he'll do?

I think he is going to run up front right away...he has a champions pedigree, he knows how to train, he has been successful his whole career and as of late he has been doing a lot of WORCS racing and running with some guys that have proven top 5 national speed (Dietrich, Brown etc.)...seems like a pretty good recipe for success to me!

I was a big fan of his dad back in the day, I hope Eli can follow in his championship footsteps!

I think he has the speed but it depends on how long he takes to get used to the aggressiveness of the pros and the mental aspect of running up there. Just like Barcia last year. I'm sure Barcia could do 30+2 in practice no problem, but during the race he faded badly because of the pressure. That's the biggest question mark, quickly will he adapt.

Man, Geico Powersports Honda has probably a better team than Pro Circuit this year:

Metcalfe on 450
Canard, Barcia, Wharton and Tomac on 250!!

Strong team for sure.

a debut like barcia, but less panic revs.

the kid is smooth as butter and picks apart a track like no other amateur, his style is alot like one of the GP riders.. top 10 both motos, maybe a top 5.

Haven't seen him ride, but smooth is key. Most Ams come in with speed but are on the edge and wear themselves out trying to hard.
Let's not forget, this is a stacked class with no returning champ. Everyone has there eye on the prize.

I honestly think the kid will be an immediate podium threat. From what I have seen and been told by some of the guys on the team, he will make just as much of an impact as Barcia, if not more.

He is not wild or crazy like barcia, rides more calculated like CP. Cant wait for outdoors!

Is CP running 250f? I assume he is.
Canard, Baggett, Wilson, Barcia, Stroupe, Weimer, to name a few. Getting into the top 5 isn't going to be easy.

Not saying he won't, but it looks like a stacked field to me.

Thats what they say every year, txmxer. Then one or two top players get hurt, a few lose motivation, others have little injuries, and Tomac will have alot of drive to prove he is a top 5 guy.

I'd like to think he'll approach the Nat's the same way he's gone about racing the WORCS. Watch listen and learn. It's going to happen for him. He's effin' fast and very young. I think he's going to be around a longtime so no rush or panic. Championships are in his future.

i was out at worcs this weekend and he is fast and consistent. Racing for 2 hrs against brownie, caselli, bonds, soule, sutherlin, summers, strang, dietrich, bell, abbott and many other top riders not mentioned has got to have some pressure. I Think top 5 all season sprinkled with podiums.

The kid is an effin' stud. I've been watching him at WORCS events for the last 4 years and always have been impressed with his down to earth nature and his family life seems to be... well its "normal". I am a fan, best of luck to him and here's hoping for a very very long career.

Didn't he ride a 250f this weekend and still got 4th? I'm not too familiar with WORCS racing but surely that is pretty big disadvantage especially in that type of racing?

some of you are forgetting Rattray, Wilson, Wharton, Searle. I think in any other year Tomac would be a shoe in for top 5. This year the top 10 maybe even top 15 guys are all fast enough to win on any day. I think Tomac would do very well and should be proud for top 10 finishes.

It amazes me that such young kids are able to compete at the top level. No other sport do you really see that.

After watching him at Lorettas I wouldn't doubt he'll win one or two this summer.
