He just said today on mxa he’s racing his 450, a 2023 model at that because he had 5 pc engines already for it. Now not sure if the offer is for the next round on?
Actually seems like a bad move. Dude has been gaining and gaining on a 450 and now throw him back down in a class with way more fast guys? Why go out and get 10th when you can go out and get 5th on a 450. Better results and better money. I think we have seen over the years that a better bike doesn't necessarily mean progressing your career
my God! 5 PC ENGINES ready to go???!?!?!
Is his end game to be in the 250 class on a good team, or going the 450 route for the rest of his career? Maybe he can impress Mitch and earn a full ride next year, or just a summer ride to doing the same thing in sx as this year? He’s just in a weird spot because of his 250 sx experience imo.
Hard to turn down a chance to race a PC 250, or to prove yourself to Mitch. That’s someone who’ll do anything for you to help you!
5th in this 450 field is a big stretch. Who is he beating on factory bikes?
The point is, The depth is stronger in the 250 class. I feel like battling for top 10's on a factory bike would do more harm for his career then battling for top 5's on his own. Unless Mitch attaches an incentive for a contract based on results.
Some of the guys he already beat last year….but I think it may be harder this year. First off he has been fighting health problems so he is probably behind on fitness from last year. That’s huge. In 450s his bike is competitive. His Thunder Valley race last year was epic. I think he could be a 7-10 guy if his fitness is good enough.
Saw his brother was on the pre entry list. He's put it in the top 10 a couple times on the 450 outdoors
I saw that….but that was 4 years ago. It will be interesting to see how he does…but I’m not a buyer quite yet.
They should have given Masterpool a shot on the factory 450. He earned it from last year.
He rode well last year but the “Masterpool is a potential top 5 factory rider” fantasy is exactly that, a fantasy
He should pursue the GPs like Jack Chambers
I thought the same honestly. But Masterpools are a mystery
Pit Row
Unfortunately his dad doesn't seem to want him to leave the compound to learn Supercross much less to go to Europe where he should be! The kids got skills!
Yeah, damn shame. Could be quite a legacy instead of a mild curiosity. Be cool if he'd do something like that.
Masterpool on a PC kawi 250 outdoors would beat Mcadoo and Hammaker, supercross is a different story.
McAdoo yes, Hammaker no imo.
I like Hammaker, it would be close. Hoping he can stay healthy.
He has two of the sickest supercross practice tracks I’ve ever seen on his compound. Everything is to spec or bigger. Lots of guys go ride on it. However, he didn’t ride SX really hard until the offseason going into 23, then for a few reasons stopped training and went all in on outdoors. It obviously was a smart decision. He obviously has improved his skills some this year and I’d look for them to continue to improve for at least another few years. I’d say in SX he could crack top 10s one day. But we all know on good equipment, he could podium outdoors.
Regular top five:
1. Jett
2. Chase
3. Hunter/Cooper/Ferrandis
4. Cooper/Hunter/Ferrandis
5. AP/Anderson/Barcia
That's the regular top eight.
I don't see Masterpool getting anywhere there the top five.
I don’t think Masterpool would be regularly top 5, but you can’t say he couldn’t be anywhere near it.
Thunder Valley last year he beat Ferrandis first moto, finished just behind him second moto, but also beat AC and Webb. He’s got it in him to do it here and there.
He is the re-incarnation of Weston Peick.
I expect him to be at least as good as last year, and on any given weekend, that will have him 6-10 .
Love to see him in Europe too.
philG : " Love to see him in Europe too ".
I wonder about that too. But, besides my the point in my next few sentences - could he adapt to such a totally different series, with it's myriad changes from being in his own country? Could he be adaptable?
I've seen enough 'scuttlebutt' about problems associated with his family ties **** and people, I can only go on what I read, and, it may well be complete and utter BS sprouted by haters **** that I doubt a Euro Team would want to take on someone with what may be 'baggage'.
Now, our sport has plenty of riders with family tagging along / being an integral part of a Riders set up, but a group the Euros have not been familiar with, well, they may not want to take that on. I wonder if he could go /cope without a family 'entourage' ?
The field is much deeper this summer. It won’t be like last year for him.
His dad has ruined his career by not going to cali to learn sx with the teams.
