You and a few others are going down an extremely informative path.

Nice!

My career, which I’m sure is quite a bit different than your’s, has some obvious parallels and I’ll bet “many of the important fundamentals” are seemingly identical.

During my 1st ten years in Aerospace, I’d learned what was & wasn’t “my cup of tea”. Truth be told, I’d learned most of what I needed to know in the 1st 36-48 months. Now, that doesn’t mean that I knew it then…but, I know that’s the truth, now.

Early in my 11th year, having already started a biz on the side that was taking off, I “retired” and never looked back.

I’m quite sure that my career, which started in 1984, probably doesn’t sound much like yours…but, someday, it would be nice to have a beer and compare notes. Because, I get the feeling the lessons learned are quite alike.

I've been doing my own thing since 1995. It’s been a long, challenging, hard, fun, growth filled road.

Thanks for digging in on this subject and casting some pearls.

Manny

Let’s get those beers soon! 🍻

And, let’s spin some Newmann tales along the way—I miss our friend, daily.
🤙

I think the focus on social media is probably overblown a little bit because it's a reason he could talk about that wasn't restricted by the NDA. My guess is in line with Matthes that the blame is probably evenly spread between both parties, with Triumph management not stoked on Evan's progress so far and the Ferry's not stoked on the minimal resources available to develop the bike from a factory team. Better to go their separate ways.

I definitely would have advised against an interview until his next steps were more concrete, so that could be the focus versus tiptoeing on the separation specifics and going into so much depth about him being upset about his lack of instabangers.

I'm sure the Ferry's are great people but [perhaps through no fault of their own].....this Evan situation isn't a good look. Like it or not, perception is important in an industry that depends so heavily on marketing.

I hope Evan snags a PC fill in spot and strings together some good finishes so he can put this behind him. In the meantime, I think vital threads and page counts can serve as a sort of litmus test for how certain situations are perceived.

What would motivate Mitch to give him a fill in?

The interview seemed like an attempt to end speculation but raised more questions than it answered.

This could also an ego situation. If the low on bikes and parts, this could be Ferry wasn't getting the good stuff!! Jake was/is giving results and they only have limited parts and feeding him. Then you have Joey testing outdoors and getting allot of attention due to his past status and knowledge on 250 program and getting the good stuff.

I remember way back to Motoworld Suzuki and hearing Darryl Hurley asking to buy his own PC motor as Short was getting the good stuff and they didn't have budget for Hurley to be running it as well..

Just a thought after reading and hearing so much.

A 19YO quits a factory ride over a bruised ego to ride Daddy's bike?

If he truly quit over social media, I feel bad for him and am disappointed in what those apps have done to our youth.

one day instagram will be viewed like cigarettes are

What if the multiple references to bike and part availability on pulp was a low key way of saying the team is about to get sidelined for not meeting homologation requirements and ferry was tipped off and bailed before the rug got pulled?

We both know there are numerous income streams available to content creators.   That said, I was pretty adamant that I was not going to shit all...

Yeah it’s constipating.

Seriously would like an example of sports journalist who operates like some think they should?  Maybe Trent Crimm of the independent?

Get a trial of the athletic. They do tons of good stuff. They offer a good Friday sale every year for $1/month.

I subscribe to the Athletic, but I mostly read their local football and baseball stuff where I feel like the beat writers are forced to walk the same fine line Moto guys have to with even less access to the athletes. Who are your go to writers there?

When it comes to Evan im sure hes a good guy, but just take a look at how many races hes done since he left 85s and the results, especially on 250s kinda says it all

As i have said in numerous other 'Team' threads, never underestimate the amount of top people in teams, that would rather lose, than win with something that wasnt their idea.

Triumph US strikes me as top heavy with brand ambassadors, and light on everything else, whereas the MXGP side seems the opposite.

Ferry will end up somewhere, but whether that is a pro ride , or a day job, will depend on someone knowing the truth.

The interview stuck me as a young man who didn't like the situation, and doesn't "need" the money.  He's going to have a roof over his head and food to eat no matter what.  Some kids come into the pro ranks running on fumes, not the case here.

One thing we do know for sure, he's been in and out with a few teams, without racing much.

This is a good point and often overlooked. Hannah, RC4, and JS7 are a few that had to win to make money. That is BIG motivation.

Maybe Ferry does not have the drive/ambition that the great riders have/had. Tomac is an example of a rider who sure didn't need to win to make money but still has an amazing desire to win.

Is it correct that Ferry had a bad crash some years ago? If so, maybe he has not recovered mentally from that. He wouldn't be the first to have that hinder their career.

Got this picture from a friend, seemed to be ready to ship to a so-called pro rider but he doesn't need it anymore. Now it goes to a vet rider who is faster than most pro riders. Weird story... Wink

Original picture is from JT CYCLE, who shows on facebook that they get some Triumph' delivered.

Can’t blame those results on a factory bike, but that WildCat Racing GasGas on the other hand…..
