That’s the New DNC mantra that they’re spewing to cover for this…to cover for Bidenomics: here’s your dollar’s actual decline over the last 4 years…note that we’re barely 1/3 of the way thru 2024 and 2020 makes one helluva base-line…😂
For the nay-sayers, that’s the “soft version” of your loss of value as explained by your government. So, there’s always that.
The truth is, your glorious leader and his administration of geniuses have “given away & printed” so much money, so many attempted manipulations of T bills and bonds…and then there’s Yellen’s battle with The Fed as she puts on the act of co-operation…uh, no…she’s trying to manipulate short term monetary policy for the sake of immediate appearances…hence, getting Joe re-elected.
So, no matter how it destroys your dollar’s value in the long run…they don’t care. We’ve seen the wonderful success of their policies for a while now, haven’t we?
THEY created this. From the 2nd & 3rd tiers of COVID money give aways in ‘21 & ‘22 (that was the BIG HIT as reflected on their own chart) to their failed energy policies, giving money away to foreign governments without accountability (uh, hello? Billions to Iran, Afghanistan…in just the last few years…? Hello? This is where some will confuse the issue…I’m taking about new money given to those POS nations). Oh, and, let’s not forget Joe’s attempt at buying votes with his college loan forgiveness joke…right?
Other obvious indicators they’re ignoring or denying…
Have you seen Mortgage Rates lately?
How about typical auto-loans?
Bought gas lately?
How about a set of tires for your car or truck?
What’s your 2024 grocery bill look like versus 2020…?
As for those greedy corporations? I’ve got my own lessons that I’m still learning from my suppliers and service providers…
The price of Carbon-fiber…a very petro-energy based material/porocess and the price of the resin systems needed to bond it all together (again, very petro based) and the transportation involved there-in…ALL those expenses have risen during this gross devaluation of the dollar…
And those prices continue to rise as does the cost of yen energy and labor to make them.
And about that labor? Well, in contrast to the outright lies the administration has been telling, the pre-pandemic work force HAS NOT returned and it’s had a definite impact on the labor market. Labor prices, especially here in California and the west, have risen rapidly as of late. We’ve had political policy grossly affect the issue out here; but, we’re not alone. I’m hearing tales of the same crap happening on the east coast.
Our labor expenses have risen faster than our material expenses over the last 4 years. That’s been a fun one to absorb!
Policies of failure are at the core of this and, thankfully, even the media co-opted lies from the administration are no longer working.
It’s Bidenomics. It’s not Greedflation. Greedflation is just the name they’re trying to hide behind.
I paid $300 this week on groceries for my wife and, I. It didn’t fill the fridge.
Spent $120 on gas and, it only filled my truck up 3/4 of the tank.
My realtor sent me a link to a house. It’s a 400K project that is stud walls (lacking sheetrock) and, floors within the interior. I’d estimate completing that project to be in the 250K range using “acceptable” materials.
When I first became a journeyman plumber, I could pay all my bills, take the wife to dinner, spend the whole weekend riding or, fishing and, still have money to throw in the bank.
Things went from, working to live to, living to work. 130K is the new 60K. It’s unacceptable.
As crazy as when people lost their jobs because of Covid and the quack doctor Fauci (who's the highest paid government employee).
Then Joe-Joe announced he created more jobs than any other president when the mask policy was abolished.
Our ship is listing to the "left" and we all know why...
Make no mistake, the corporations are taking advantage of the shitshow created by the Idiots in power right now.
The corporate greed is there too.
Corporations do pass the bill yes as is there right to do so just like the right of the purchaser is to refuse said product. But, this has been forced a little bit by our governments actions. Like TeamGreen said above they have hit the people from so many different angles that we are being paper cut to death and people don’t bat an eye. Some of these things like the illegals flooding into the country have massing long term ramifications that can not be undone. Yet we have people like Schumer who actively block Mayorkis from getting impeached. All of this is by design. The more people dependent on government the more control and cushier position they have. So so so many problems that need to be handled and people are worried about fucking Trump. UNREAL

What’s the projected sale price off that house if you finish it your way?
Corporate cares about percentages and only percentages. They pass it on to the consumer just like any other Joe building a home. Think you charge the exact same for the same home today vs 3 years ago? This is just another talking point because of anyone understands economics this is a no brainer. The government continues to push too hard and the fed can’t keep up. Hence why we are talking about rate cuts again…. Meanwhile the war side of our government is cashing in like always and dumb shits are acting like we should be at war and our country should be involved. Again, unreal
No stone gets left unturned for the worse with this administration. Their foreign policy is just as bad as their atrocious domestic policy.
700K range max. But, you still have to figure in, I cannot live in that house while doing most of the work myself. I’d have to keep the place I’m currently in, while maintaining all the utilities for at least 8 months. Gotta figure, I’d only have time during the evenings and, weekends to work on it while running on empty. Painting, plumbing, sheetrock, flooring I could do myself to save on labor. Knowing guys in other trades would be helpful but, still doesn’t help with material costs.
Impossible to live while doubling all my bills and, paying material costs.
I’d be back to spearfishing like I was during the pandemic to have meat in the freezer cause I’d be broke AF and, in the negative. Fuck all that!!
Too bad construction loans have gotten so crazy…
Anything and, everything is always an uphill battle. It’s just worse these days.
Might as well call the current state of our economy, “Hamburger Hill”.
Yet they won’t invest 200 billy into our infrastructure and get well paying jobs for years back into the economy. Nope! Let’s give it to Ukraine and everyone else for wars baby. Again, by design. These decisions are so obviously bad and yet people get caught up in the little things and don’t see how bad the larger picture is
Well, c’mon, man! We’ve got to pay The Military Industrial Complex back…somehow!
70% of that “Ukraine” $61,000,000,000.00 is going to the likes of…
Raytheon
Lockheed-Martin
Boeing
Etc., etc., etc. …
We're not getting the same quantity as we were a couple years ago.
One example: We regularly buy a two-pack of toothpaste over the years. Now the price is higher and the content/size is smaller. See this on TONs of products. Shrinkflation. Less for your dollar in two ways.
Bottom line, I believe in capitalism....but I'm not onboard with gouging people.
Quality has always been a huge concern of mine. Dealing with water supply, damages that I’ve seen happen are often the result of poor quality control or, poor material of parts from the supply houses. Even something as simple as a shower valve can be the difference between a huge payday and, closing your doors.
Now, many of the internal components are plastic instead of, stainless steel or, brass. Very cheaply made, easy to break and, often leak after the install process. Now, more time is involved fixing a valve that should’ve been installed quickly and, without issue. Yet, the prices have gone up close to 60%.
A plumber once told me that he doesn't buy parts from places like Home Depot/Lowes because of quality issues and plastic junk parts. All to get that "low price" everyone want's There were specialty plumbing places he bought from where the internals were quality, but you pay for it.
I've gone thru several kitchen faucets over the years before learning that.
You morans just wait and see what Thatonewombatreesescup has to say, they'll prove it's all the fault of trump and the conservatives. Don't you watch the news!
That change includes the best brands as well.
Moen, Delta, Price Pfiester etc. I never buy any material from Home Depot. Even when dealing with residential stuff to help a friend.
Commercial applications which is what my license is for, there’s an even larger liability. Imagine a valve blowing apart in a 20 story high rise in the middle of the night. Above occupied spaces and, left wide open over the weekend until someone shows up on site and, discovers it Monday morning. I’ve seen it happen.
Guess who’s ass is on the line. The installers.
Then, the rep for the part comes out, hoping to find a way to blame someone other than their piece of crap part they sold because the contractors insurance is gunning for them. The worst part is, us installers don’t have a choice but, to install the materials that were submitted and, bid on.
Sorry Manny. Not trying to derail the thread talking about plumbing supplies. Just pointing out that, things are made cheaper and, cost more.
Imagine your own government choosing to spend $200+ billion on something. You know your taxes will go up. But instead of giving YOU the people the option on what to do with YOUR money, they vote on it in the middle of the night and then laugh at you while they keep making money. Unreal
Pit Row
The system is broken...on both sides of the aisle. Sure one party is far-worse....but that's not saying much.
As in the movie The Matrix.....we are the batteries for the machines.
Optical opposition is all the Republicans are. Notice they never get anything done against the other side when they say they are committing crimes and ruining our democracy? While I lean conservative (less government) both sides are complicit.
Here is the part that grinds my gears. We are now in 4 wars, spending hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars on something that has fuck all to do with us here on this soil. We are now spending 8 billion in this oil fight, 10 billion in that oil fight, and delivering missiles to both sides of the religious fight and controlling it like a chess board. Coupled with the purposeful flooding of illegal immigration and morons try to defend it because Orange man.
I can’t fathom how they aren’t grasping the larger implications of things. It isn’t just happening in our country either. Look at Canada, then for contrast look at Argentina.
Sounds like an echo chamber in here…
Just a group of pissed off people that are paying attention.
I’d love to know who’s downvoting all of your posts in this thread because you are 100% spot on, and provably so.
There’s waaay more profit to be made by and for the politicians to launder our tax dollars through the military industrial complex machine than by laundering it through the infrastructure machine.
They are annoyed by capitalism, transferring money from consumers to corporations...
The whole country is crazy expensive now. But the Seattle area & the whole state of Wa. Is the most expensive state there is. The It jobs turned the city into the biggest woke zone in the country. I was stuck out there 6 days at Xmas . Prices at Walmart r usually the same in every state. In Wa. The prices r higher than So Cal. Or the ne. Wa. State is way different than 95 I had a great time. I know people r not the same anywhere as in 95. But it’s strange now and with the high prices on everything there I would move. All kinds of people move because there area has gotten too expensive. Minimum wage is 19.00 & going up A tiny bottle of Roland’s 20.99 at a ts. Trucking wages r terrible in Wa. That’s a template of what blue collar jobs in the future.
And they contribute so much, too.
You do realize that stock price is related to the value of a dollar, right? A company has an intrinsic value, which only changes if that company generates more or less benefit to it's owner(s). We express that value in dollars. If each dollar has less value, the number of dollars required to represent that value must increase. Given that stocks represent fractional ownership of the aforementioned intrinsic value, the number of dollars which represent that fractional share must also increase when each dollar is worth less.
Example: An adult chicken is worth an adult chicken on trade...today, tomorrow, always.
Say an adult chicken is worth $10 today. Overnight, there is 10% inflation. So, tomorrow, you need $11.00 to purchase the same chicken. The next day, there's another 10% inflation. Now you need $12.10 to purchase that chicken.
Add corporate greed, and now you need $12.10 to buy a smaller chicken
Here's the inflation calc from the BLS CPI inflation calculator at https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
It doesn't include energy or certain other prices.
Inflation adjusted $ from 2019 to 2024:

This is what's been done to us
After 40 consecutive years of working after graduating from college, I'm going to draw my social security at 62. I'm gonna spend half on gambling, strippers and booze. The other half I'm gonna blow...🙂
