He is not the next Sexton in any way.

This is Levi’s 2nd full SX season

And either way, hes still the age that he is. The fact that he is beating two guys that every factory rider in the 450 class beat years ago, doesnt mean he is going to do well in 450s.

It's just a bench racing prediction, and personally I'm not concerned with Levi's age at this point. He still has 5-6 years before the physical ability should even begin to diminish.

Right, call it whatever season you want to call it. Second, third. At the start of his first 250 championship season, Chase had 10 starts. At the start of this season, Levi had 11 or 12 starts

In my mind people let recency bias lead them to wrong conclusions.

In reality, Levi is the same age Chase was last year, but without the results. Chase was a young amateur star that got pulled into pros early and won a championship very quickly. While Levi has taken longer and still isn't there yet.

That doesn't mean Levi won't do well. I hope he does. But, he is not the next Chase Sexton. If he was, then he'd be on a 450 battling the second winningest rider of all time and another guy with 2 450 championships. He wouldn't be on a 250 battling two guys who've never even won a 250 championship.

Once these guys are in their late 20s they know what works they know what doesn't, I think just burnout really is a big reason these guys end up retiring besides injuries. Someone like Webb, who is only 28 by the way could do this for at least another 4-5 years but if he gets one more championship, maybe the motivation to do it dwindles as you are pretty well set on money/accomplishments.

If you think about it there isn't as many guys with like big nagging stuff that almost forces them to retire, like someone like Dean that has had 7 ACL surgeries. Hell even Roczen, he had to change his riding style a bit because of injuries but they surprisingly dont seem to really be a problem.

They are all dealing with nagging shit all year but as far as like stuff that hinders your performance in the long run I can only think of Deans knees, Craigs elbow and AC nerve issues.

Yeah I could see Webb being a problem for Jett for quite a few more years. He sure seems like he's got the drive and he's as fast as he ever was. Maybe faster?  You would think his body is still in great shape. He gets grief for it but he's taken some summers off and it's probably served him well. Just in general it seems like these guys are maintaining their speed at ages where they would be contemplating retirement in the past.

I’d imagine he goes SX only very soon and races till age 31 or so. He has such an underrated career. He could be one of only a small few guys to get 3 career SX Championships here in just a month’s time.

Levi Kitchen has been looking good as of late. And I know this is probably not likely but I would love to see Dylan Ferandis get back into his form of when he won the outdoor championship. He was a bad dude that summer. Jett is definitely going to be hard to beat and looks like he is going to win a lot of races.

They are all incredible champions - but because none of them had the sheer career dominance of MC/RC/RV, they are "OK" with not winning in a sense. The checks still cash, they still get to be a star, and they can still win, albeit less often.

The fans have been ready to retire each of them at different points. And yet they all find ways to claw back, and sign on for one more big deal.

So, I predict the next person to take a title from Jett will actually be one of the Vets.

I agree, particularly about Tomac. His Father John raced professionally through age 38 and if I remember correctly, he did not push Eli too much so as to curtail burnout, which leads to a lengthier and therefore more lucrative career. Also note that Eli does not go balls-out unless feeling comfortable while racing, thus fewer injuries and more longevity. Their solid path also focuses intently on rest. I say he races through age 33.

You only have to go back a few years and no one was predicting Sexton to be ultra competitive straight away in the premier class, nor did anyone have Jett going undefeated.

If the past has taught us anything, it’s that the future is uncertain and the end is always near.

No doubt Chase, probably Prado and maybe one or two of the current 250 guys have the ability to take a race win here or there.

The real question is whether any of them can take it to Jett often and consistently enough to win a championship.  It’s much harder to see who that might be.

I don't know if I see it with Eli. I guess the big question is if he truly thinks he can still compete for a title. And if the answer is no, does he still want to line up? I don't think he's passed Jett once this year and he's been tracked down and passed by him several times. He started right behind him that 2nd triple crown main and Jett pulled away. I'd like to see him come back next year with a real off season and give it another go. I think he can compete for the title.

I still don’t think Eli’s fully there.  I also question his comfort on this current gen Yamaha.  If Tomac is healthy and thinks he can win still, maybe he will stick around, collect those nice win bonuses and chip away at MCs record a little more.

Is that the word, that he has never vibed with the new chassis? He looked so good on the '22.

IDK I have no connection to the guy. I just know that he has not looked the same on the new gen as he did on the 22.  Even though he was winning last year on it and was set to be champion, it didnt look like eli on the 22.  Bubba has mentioned on his show several times about how tomac rides the bike and I cant help but wonder if it is the bike.  DF14 was very vocal about the new gen.  but with that said, I cant deny or argue webb is doing just fine on the new gen so who knows.

Deegan in his current form doesn’t have a chance, he’s had a couple good rides but he’s very inconsistent and while his good days are fast and fun to watch, that style will never beat Jett.

He has a LONG way to go to:

1. Be ready for the 450 class

2. Get a sniff of the top 5 let alone a podium
