I just switched to working weekends and i had the race on one of the work computers. Im sitting here watching the race and i hear a voice from across the room. "Damn her voice is annoying" when Will starts her jabbering. I couldnt help but laugh. A few "down to will" segments later and he said the famous saying ive read over and over on this board. "Will that lady stfu"
I havent disliked someone this much in Moto broadcasting for a long time. The last voice that was as annoying as hers.. I cant remember his name. He did some commenting back in like 1999 when the races went on a big network. Fat bald guy with a squeaky voice? Ill have to look him up
Had to laugh during the 250 main.
rc's babbling on semi coherently, as usual.
Talking about mcadoo as he's moved into 2nd place.
I'm paraphrasing:
"He's buying himself some insurance on his skills..."
Realizing he's either, worded himself completely out of any form sensible statement or, he fully lost his train of thought as he desperately tries to talk 5 seconds ahead of the action.
He then just came to a complete stop.
Just left himself hanging.
(Again)
So many times things happening on camera last night and RC/Leigh turn into mutes.
“And the reason that I say that is”
RC constantly uses 8 word when he could use one. ‘Because’

I did some digging and found his vocabulary coach.
I thought it was funny/ironic when leigh says … there must be something happening because you can hear the crowd cheering about something, when cooper went down in his heat. No kidding Leigh, happy you noticed, that’s what happens at least once every race as the broadcast is showing someone else just cruising around or Will is yapping about some nonsensical crap not related to anything going on at the moment.
I’m normally just appreciative that we have live SX, after growing up in the era of 1-800-INF-MOTO and watching a 2-minute highlight a week later on Speedworld.
That said, it’s gotten really bad. My final straw was when we have a 2 (and potentially 3) rider battle for the win going into the last 2 laps, and they decided to run split-screen so we can see if boy wonder passes Anderson for 4th…Who the F cares?! The only reason it would be part of the action is if this were the last round and it could decide the title. Jett and Coop leaving this race tied or not is basically meaningless. Yet Leigh sounds like he’s about to cream his shorts over a battle for 4th. Meanwhile, Will sounds like she’s a 3-pack a day smoker catching her breath between rounds of “I talked to the team earlier and they said their rider prefers a bike with wheels vs without.”
LOL at your example Will quote
5 downvotes for this.....too funny!
The post was removed and not by me
Nice. Seems you have some issues to work out with yourself..good luck. For the record, I was agreeing with you, not that it matters.
This whole take is gold, and accurate.
Not related to the broadcast, but I bought 8 tickets to Foxboro and 4 of them were covered in plastic when we showed up. On the stadium end opposite to the start (end of the whoops) where the high wall is, ticketmaster sold every seat under plastic. They had to relocated around 50 people. What a PITA.
Well, my $1.49.
I'm just happy I can click on PeacockTV, watch Race Day Live, watch the race live if I can, and watch the replay if I miss live.
I like RC as the color guy, he is there to add color which is insight, (and he has 150 AMA Pro wins, unlike the Vitards) I like JT$, he does a great job in his role and could do color easily. I would prefer Weedge as play-by-play, but hey......
🙄 well you should probably go back to a flip phone to take important blurry videos with so you can say “I’m just glad I don’t have to carry a camcorder around”.
complacency breeds complacency
Groovy, I am super thankful for all that as well. They caught up with the times by getting it on the TV on a regular basis. However, the commentary and camera work is still stuck in the backwoods. RC doesn’t know what his job really is. He just blabs on the mic like he the good ole’ announcer at chicken licks raceway. Color, play by play, analyst, whoa guy and Bondo and friends are mixing it up in the truck like Dj Scribble at Club LaVilla.
100%. Volume muted whenever they go to her. The most irrelevant pit reporter we have ever had since the '70's. Adds zero to broadcast. The whole makeup of the broadcast team is way off. Should be Weedge announcing , JT (or Stew ) color. Listen to JT when he does MXGP, clear, concise, no ridiculous yelling and usually on point. AC on the floor. JT to floor also when Stew comes. Can we also talk about the split screen last couple laps when Chase was pressuring Coop? No one needs to see the battle for 4th at this time. Could show 18's pass attempt after top 3 went over the line. And no need to interview Jett after race.
Pit Row
It's our fault, we tune into watch a race, thinking they will call a race and comment on the race action.
The cover it as a show, telling us about conversations had with competitors, behind the scenes stuff not pertaining to the race but tid bits of useless info happening anywhere but the track.
Thinking they are drawing in a casual viewer. They believe someone will subscribe to a platform to watch something they know nothing about and hope to be educated on that show.
Please just call the race and leave out all the other blather to between notos if at all.
I just want to know why the commercials have to be so loud?
250 West we are 6 minutes into practice and watched 3 riders roll around and then cut into an interview with JUJU watching Mumford on the track only to end said interview and pan to JUJU rolling around after interview. They have zero clue what the heck is going on. Zero
And back on Mumford rolling around. Good god they are awful. It isn’t hard to find riders setting up for a fast lap. Stop worrying. About the interviews DURING qualifying and focus on riders about to do hot laps and watch them and what they do. How do they not do the obvious?
Love watching Webb on a hot lap to get taken off his hot lap to go to Jett In traffic to only see Webbs time go straight to the top. lol hitting the ball out of the park today baby. Killing it!
I understand they can't follow everything but you're correct about the coverage today. I'm pretty sure they missed Jetts, coopers, Webbs and tomac hot laps??
RC last night:
"If my mind serves me correct"
"what an event of turns"
So sad many think he’s a shining star to be put out there every week to represent this sport 🤦♂️
When this happens on TV or in any video that has adds, it’s typically the program that has their volume levels too low. This is especially true during a live event where they have multiple microphones/inputs to deal with. Not everyone will be at the same volume level. For example, JT’s mic is probably significantly lower as he is standing next to loud engines on the floor. With commercials, it’s all post production so they can make the entire video as loud as the threshold allows. You may notice the volume being louder when they cut to pre made segments as well. Apps like Spotify/Youtube refer to LUFS or Loudness Units relative to Full Scale so when you upload, you know the baseline level your audio should be. Typically -14LUFS is standard protocol nowadays. I actually run the audio from the race through my DAW so I can add a bit of gain staging to fix the sound imbalances. It’s super low, like -10 to -12 LUFS. I don’t know how the broadcast team hasn’t figured this out yet or they’re just being extra cautious. Sorry for the long response. I produce music and am a super nerd with this stuff 🤓
Re broadcast, noticed tonight how good the commentating was in the LCQ’s. They actually commentated about the race, in real time. Not pre planned bs fluff pieces. I hope they are just getting reps in before they try this bold new strategy for the mains.
Kinda wild that the broadcast higher ups are so out of touch that the TV production of a racing event actually detracts from being able to properly follow said event on a PAID SERVICE. Commentators are meant to add context to make the racing more interesting. Racing has become the sideshow now - How can this be the case if those in power are not out of touch?? Must be due to guaranteed TV time to sponsors by way of completely irrelevant "interviews" shoved into every possible spare second of broadcast time. Surely the quality of the coverage of the RACING is priority number 1, then the quality of commentating, and somewhere further down the line can be "random yappa yappa I spoke to the team this week" inserts.
I do understand all the hate and moaning now.
