One of my best freinds who is like a brother to me was seriously injured at Budds Creek yesterday. Currently has no feeling from the waist down. Surgery is today to repair T4-T7. I have always seen the stories posted on all the sites and felt really sad for them and thier family and freinds as I sent my payers, but now it has hit home for me. Please send him your thoughts and prayers. I usually never get emotional about stuff, but I have broken down a few times and Im just devastated Sad

Well, some good news and bad news. The bad news is they had to bump his surgery till this morning due to having to deal with life threatening injuries to other people. I hope that delaying the surgery will not hamper his recovery, but he is at Baltimore Shock Trauma which is one of the best shock trauma hospitals in the country with spine specialists, so I guess they know best.

The good news is that he gained feeling yesterday!!!!!! On Saturday he had no feeling from below the nipple area. Now he can feel down past the bellybutton! Even better, eventhough he hasnt gained feeling in his legs yet, he was able to slightly move his left foot and toes on command!!!!!! I have never felt so relieved from hearing good news!!! Smile

The prayers are working and I would like to thank everyone one of you. He isnt out of the dark yet. Still a long way to go, but any improvement is huge!!!! Smile

Everyone please keep Mike in your prayers. He had his surgery yesterday on his back, but the prognosis isnt good. Doctors said the movement we saw was probably just spinal cord reflex. They said his chances of ever walking again are extremely slim, but if anyone can take advantage of that slim chance its him. He is a fighter and I know he can get through this. When we returned from getting something to eat today we were suprised to see Jonathan Beasley in the waiting room. Eventhough Mike is still intubated, he can hear and is resposive to your questions. Jonathan visited him and expressed his well wishes. Jonathan also was able to describe the crash as he wittnessed it. After making it out of the first turn and going down the straight along mechanics row, he bumped arms with another rider and lost control. Bike swapped and he highsided. He was then thrown and went head first into the dirt at a high rate of speed and his body came to a complete stop. Jonathan said that the top of his helmet left a 2 1/2 inch indentation in the dirt. Jon ran right up to him and he told Jon that he broke his back and couldnt feel his legs. Jon stayed with him until he was flown out. Thank God Mike had his Leatt brace on because if he didnt we would probably be going to a memorial service instead of the hospital. His injuries consist of fractures of his Thoracic spine, he fractured vertebras T4-T7, ribs fractures in which he fractured all but three, a significant laceration to his left arm and a bruise to his 5th cervical vertebra. As a result of his Thoracic fracture, his spinal cord has been severly compramissed, with a result of him not having any feeling from the waist down. Mike should be taken off life support in the next 24 to 48 hours and then he will be able to talk to us. Just hearing him joke and pick on me again will be music to my ears. Once again, thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers and please keep them coming. Also, thanks to Jonathan Beasley for coming to visit Mike and speak with us today. He is a good dude.
