People can’t not abbreviate these days so supermotocross will most likely become supermoto which, it may be a stretch, reminds me of a completely different type of racing called supermoto which I thought got its name from shortening supermotocross. Point is, it’s 2 completely different types of dirt bike racing with the same name. It’s not like I’m losing sleep over this, or even care that much at all, I had a thought and a few xtra mins. How about these sweet alternatives:
Superbike, oh wait… also taken
Motosupercross
Motohybrid
Supocross
Superdupercross
Superdirtbikeracing
Megacross
And my favorites- Startcross
haha
90% of our announcers seem to think it's motoRcross
I vote for Superdupercross!
I wasn’t a fan at first but it’s grown on me.
i get it. feld and mx sports came together. thats cool, but supermotocross is a terrible name for the series imo. i really cant stand it. it just sounds cheesy to me. i think they should just call the extra rounds "supermotocross" and not the entire series as a whole.

My vote is SuperDuperMotoRcross.
Ultracross sponsored by Michelob
not too much a fan of Super moto cross. Sounds like a video game
Super Mario Cross
AMA Supercross, a Grand National series event.
AMA National Motocross, a Grand National series event.
Me too, I think I heard it on Gypsy Tales last year and I am sticking with saying that.
That's what I thought as well.
Might as well toss a few logs in the whoops, tire or two on face of jumps and call it Superendurocross!
I’m ready for outdoor Motocross racing.
There’s moto and there’s the circus.
When you tell someone you ride and they say how much they love SuperDuperMotorcross, you’ll know which crowd you are speaking to.
I find value in that.
It's pretty ridiculous. They should just call it what it is, Supercross and Motocross and then the final 3 rounds can be Supermotocross.
Thank you.
AND...We have a halftime report (never knew there was a halftime in Supercross), as well as playoffs (because they play on their dirt bikes)
It makes me laugh how the ama announcers will say that Tom Vialle is a 2x mx2 mxgp champion. Rather then the correct “mx2 world champ” they really don’t want to refer to the gp’s as the world championships.
Pit Row
Like a lot of other US sports, Baseball, NFL, US Basketball etc. They pretty much call them world championships even though the whole season is played in the US
They changed it when world supercross came about. It sounds really cheesy.
It’s AMA monster energy supermotocross
Nobody calls it 'Supermotocross' in the same way nobody calls it 'Supey'.
Its Supercross, and Outdoors.
I guess we could call it 'pony show at the end'.
Who was the gay suzuki rider?
Will to do an in depth 10 min rant in place of 450 main battle.
Just super...
Supermotocross = lame. We have, Supercross, motocross, knee jerk end of season 3 races, because we were afraid some riders would go to the WSX series, so we thought we should pay them some good money to stay.
How else are they gonna grow the sport?
Strange days, indeed. I don't actually have an opinion on this.
It's Monster Energy Cross presented by FeldMx Sports.
I like the abbreviation SMX for the final 3 races but other than that, nah I don’t hear anyone that isn’t on the broadcast calling it SuperMotocross.
Post a reply to: Are we really calling it supermotocross?
