FFS.

Why not make all riders wear "sumo wrestler" air bags....

Good God, I'm glad I grew up in the era I did.       What a bunch of candy asses....

You grew up in an era where bikes went as 1/3 as fast and barely did fucking jumps.

Now you are too old and too scared to even ride.

Shut the fuck up old man, your opinion is fucking trash.

Resi like they use at skate parks would be perfect here.  They’ve been used by FMX riders, so we know that the material holds up.  It’s softer than concrete, but still absorbs impact while allowing “slide”.

The only downside is we’re talking about spending money and Feld, so..

Just extend the dirt to the walls.

Same to you old man.

So much irony in how you talk about how “soft” everyone is these days compared to “back in your day” but you are always also bitching about getting picked on like a little pussy.

Toughen up old man, your weak.

Money. Car manufacturers will weigh money it costs to fix a known problem vs money it will cost to pay the lawsuits those problems will cause. The lower amount wins.  Until Feld has to pay money because of the issue, they will not pay money to perhaps avoid the issue.

This, it's called capitalism... or rather monopolism dressed up as capitalism like everything in this country.

Awesome to see that they listened and made a change! Weege also talked about this in the weege show and I took a screen shot. I’m sure just seeing that theyre willing to listen to the riders and try to make it a little bit safer puts the riders at ease.

Not being negative, it's cool they made a token effort, but is that really gonna help at the speed / height these guys go?

I don't see a legit solution so I'm not saying they should do more, or less, just asking.

I'd compare it to wearing a basic chest protector. Is it a failsafe for injuries? Hell no. Is it better than nothing and could end up being the difference between bruised or broken? Yep.

It's not soft but it will still compress/absorb more than bare concrete.

I can't wait to read the outraged comments when the Alpinestars medical mule gets stuck in the blown magic castle airbag somewher around the track and can't access to a downed rider...

There is no argument or debate here.

The concrete should be padded.

Just retarded.

Feld concerned about optics, Ricky toeing the corporate line , reeks like shit to me .

Pad the fucking hazards on the tracks.

All these old timers Talkin about how back in the day...

How did everyone ride motocross with open face helmets , and not even a damn bar pad. And no one ever figured it out ?

I mean, I'm sure I'm a pussy and a snowflake and whatever else.....

But I woulda made a bar pad out of some.foam or something.

Common sense

I thought it was just plywood. Never seen concrete on the floor at any of the SX races I've went to.

How is a multi ton dozer or Astars mule supposed to drive on padding? There isn’t enough time to remove them in an emergency situation or enough time to remove them to allow access for the track workers. Plus you would have to add a few additional tractor trailers to move them from stadium to stadium. That’s fuel, paying people to drive it to each round, paying other people to unload and install it. Plus the initial cost of actually buying them and the upkeep on them. It is unfortunately logistically impossible.

seems like an easy fix that would be worth it.

i honestly can’t believe they don’t have a net.
unsure the odds, but a cross rut mixed with whiskey throttle and who knows where that bike could go.

If you think Austin’s injuries would have been any less or different landing on compacted dirt … well then… i don’t know 🤷‍♂️

Bro. Like recycled tire rubber mats like at the play ground . You can drive on that. They could put sponsors logos on them and sell advertisement. Done.

Logistically impossible.

You crash on that and you’re stopping…

I wonder how rigid insulation, under the plywood, covered with a dirt layer would perform along the track edge. Maybe durable enough for rubber tire and rubber tracked equipment traffic.
