Seems to be damn near the same pace but you have injuries and other factors involved
If you've paid literally any attention, Chase has said about a hundred thousand times this season that he is not as fast as he was last year yet...
He doesn’t look as fast (as expected, he needs time to get comfy on the bike) but he looks so much more in control. I don’t think you can lump in that heat race top over with what he was doing last year…
But is he more in control because he isnt going as fast? If he backed off last year he probably doesn’t lose his front end on the Honda either.

Dumb ass poll…
Soon as he went back to the jap crap suspension, he tucks the front 💀
Start a poll whether the Honda is a POS that needed a once in a lifetime talent to make it look good.
Now! that doesn't make any sense, apparently this Poll is showing that he was faster on the Honda, so by that reasoning the KTM is more of a POS than the Honda is.
Jury still out but they are deliberating and will make a decision in the next three weeks. I am a huge Chase fan….but enough step in the right direction comments….time to lay it down. The quad at Daytona was sketchy but about when he quit doing it Eli started….and Jett did it pretty much the whole race. At some point you decide to take some risk…or concede the championship. I can understand not wanting to risk injury….but no one will beat Jett like that.
chase will be fine its just Jett better than him right now , chase will adapt & adjust accordingly. goona be a chess match wid these 2 in the coming yrs
Chase is still adapting to the KTM. It takes a while for him to feel comfortable. He's not going as fast as he was last year, so he's making a lot less mistakes. He's not comfortable going the pace he was last year, and if he does (Daytona Heat race was getting close), then he's still prone to making mistakes. I don't think it matters which bike he's on honestly. The place Jett is going is hard for anyone to match, hell even Jett himself is making plenty of mistakes at that pace.
He seems faster to me because he doesn’t seem to be hitting the ground as often!
I think a team/bike change takes a season to work itself out.
I ride a Kawi & can hop any aluminum frame bike & feel pretty comfy but when I rode my brother’s ktm I felt like I was playing a different sport 😂 drastically different just riding a regular moto track. I imagine the difference is even more exaggerated on a supercross course. I could argue AP just this year looks like he’s consistently comfy on the ktm (year what 4??). I think it’s going to take an entire season to get all the way comfy & I feel like that extra speed he had last year is not there because the comfort isn’t quite there. I’m a huge sexton fan so I’m hoping he finds that % he needs to perform at his best. I’m not sure if that’s bike set up or just laps & gate drops with the ktm machine. With all that said, if Jett wasn’t out there he’d be 3 points out of the lead & have at least 1 more win. That’s cock solid for being on a brand new team, not even 100% comfy & injured.
I bleed orange, but the HRC bike is a better package than the KTM. Chase's raw pace was on another level last year, sometimes being near a second faster. Chase is not anywhere near how fast he was last year and only one thing changed... I honestly don't understand how anyone can believe he's quicker on the KTM. Really hope we'll see him back on blue soon.
Except Eli was immediately faster on the Yamaha.
Jason was immediately faster on the Kawasaki.
And Webb looks faster on the Yamaha already.
yea its not a bike change thats slowing him down, its the mid tier bike slowing him down. Crazy thing is he signed with KTM in 22' when the bike was OBVIOUSLY a POS, not sure what he was thinking, this is a Fernando Alonso level bad career move.
Do you remember what Chase looked like in the whoops last year? When was the last time you saw anyone on an Austrian bike that blew your mind in the whoops?
Stewart and Craig used to be known for their whoop speed. Now, not so much.
Pit Row
So it looks like you met your objective (KTM is a pos) You needed a poll for that? It's premature to judge Chase's move but that wouldn't fit your narrative. C'mon man.
This is worse than your "I already bought a truck but which do you prefer" poll...
He has ridden half the season with an injured hand...Jett seems to be hitting the ground as much as Chase did last year. How many wins has Jett lost from unforced errors?
It was a LARGE check, they promised to make him "comfortable", and he had to do it to get away from the Jett show and be #1. Time will tell...
This thread in no way was a bashing KTM as I own 2 of them, I was just responding to Chris Buehlers post that a POS honda needed a once in a lifetime talent to look good.
So how does your post prove or disprove that "Honda needs a lifetime talent to look good"?
If whenever Jett leaves Honda his replacement will answer that question.
Chase saw the writing on the wall with HRC Honda. The Lawrence bros were coming, and he was probably out as the "lead rider" of the team, and his excuse was that the factory Honda was causing him grief...when I personally believe the biggest reason for his numerous front-end washouts and general crashes were more due to his brain farts than the bike. And...I feel like he was hyped by Ian & RD on a "better" KTM coming soon.
I don't know how many years Chase signed for with KTM...but I don't see him staying any longer than he has to. Great Fernando Alonso comparison, btw.
Eli went to a better team and could put the settings he wanted on his bike.
Jason going to Kawi was an improvement for him over the Husky.
Coop was tired of his bike, Roger, and Aldon so his move to Star was a breath of fresh air for him coupled with a better bike.
Chase going to KTM was a downgrade for now. 8 races in we need more data to come to any conclusions. Halfway through outdoors we will have our answer.
The question is:
is the KTM making him less confident to jump the quad than the Honda?
is the KTM so much more sketchy that it’s giving him more forearm pump than the Honda did?
seems like Jett is making them all ride faster than they want to and everyone is experiencing forearm pump!
AP is proving right now that it’s not the bike holding anyone back!
But AP was with Yamaha when their 450 program stunk so it's an upgrade for him. The best bike for these guys is the one their most comfortable on. Kudos to KTM for leaving no stone unturned for Chase. I like their chances and the Chase vs Jett battles will be great for us fans. And at least one more year of Eli hopefully, Coop, Kenny, also AP and Jason, and JCoop.
Last year the bike was holding AP back
Yes, but better than the Yamaha still. But this year...
Loooooking good!
RIP Freddie
