Austin Forkner has been a humble dude FOR YEARS.....injury after injury. Finally comes back looking good in the second race of the year and cartwheels into oblivion, slamming into plywood covered concrete,...this could very well end his run.....

Deeg, shows no concern or awareness to the fate of Austin,,flips his bike, does a victory dance, etc,..did not hear any concern for a fallen SX brother on the podium.  I know young deeg is a hard charger, but this should be a lesson to reflection. There is a code in this family.

Go listen to the podium interview again and also the press conference. Maybe you need a lesson in selective hearing.

And he’s not supposed to celebrate his first SX win? And how exactly is he supposed to know the extent of Forkner’s injuries right after the race is over? Get over it

Yeah Deegan is a snot kid and you’re just not gonna get anything from him.

Kind of reminds me of Cooper Webb early on, especially talking about Cianciarulo having an unfortunate incident, when he said “He cracked. I didn’t.”

Never liked forkner but has gone thru it, was rooting for him this year untill the stupid Jett crying Sandbagging on Ando´s post (Kenny´s falling in the same bag), but Deegan needs more empathy and awareness. I am sure no one wants to see a fellow racer or athlete get injured, and making comments about how you pressured into a mistake and then end it with welcome to the danger zone baby is quite bad taste.

Go listen to the press conference and post race interviews with him. He feels for Forkner. Also just let him celebrate his first win. He just won. I swear if people say he won because forkner crashed, racing is racing CRASHES HAPPEN. It’s like saying Chase was gifted the championship because Eli exploded his achilles.

Some people I like and respect thought it was poor taste but, personally, I don’t. This has always been a dangerous sport so us racers are quite numb to people getting hurt and the severity of it is often times not on our minds during a race.

Deegan got his first win and everybody who knows his dad’s story was expecting a bike ghost ride. It had nothing to do with Forkner. It was just shitty timing but you can’t blame Deegan for caring more about himself winning his first SX in that moment in my opinion.

Also, Deegan’s opening ceremonies video has the highway to the danger zone song so that is why he said welcome to the danger zone.

I doubt he had any idea how bad the crash was on the podium and it would have been very different if he punted forkner to cause the crash vs it happening on his own.

You know…

If Forkner and Eli hadn’t crashed/ got injured, Deegan and Sexton would be Losers!

His lesson will come in the form of big crashes and injuries. Until then, he is young and invincible, and his ‘character’ is almost as important as the results.

…and if Sexton hadn’t crashed he would have walked away with the championship.  How come when other people crash they are gifting Chase but when he crashes they earned it.  The faster Supercross rider won the championship last season.  End of story.

At the time he did his post race interview, he wasn't wrong. Said he watched video of Forkner making mistakes. And his game plan was to pressure him into a mistake. This is a common strategy. Nobody wants anyone to get hurt, but if you pressure them to make a mental mistake, that's a racing strategy. The kid was amped up celebrating his first SX WIN! Now we know it was a vision issue but at the time, everyone thought the same thing. That the pressure got to him. So folks want to get out the pitch forks because the kid said it out loud?

In all fairness, Eli didn’t crash. You still have to be in it to win it but it’s not really an example of Eli crashing out. That was such a bazar end of the season last year.

True….Eli was a weird thing….but this year they have said the same thing when Chase had the red plate.  Sometimes things happen and the fastest rider does not win the championship.  Last year the fastest rider actually won the championship….so regardless of what happened during the season….Chase earned it and it worked out in the end for him.  Heart breaking for Eli.  I was in the third row on the corner in Denver where he was waiting to cross the track after getting hurt.  We were in shock.  I have a much harder time when Cooper talks like that was his championship.  He was, at best, the third fastest rider last year.  He crashed and AC accidentally hit him…but he crashed some….Chase crashed some…it is all part of the season..but had he won the championship it would have been less deserved then Chase.  All just my opinion.

Yeah, people have a short memory when it comes to Forkner. Just bacause he hit the ground they treat him like a saint now when he just a couple of weeks ago showed that he is the same old punk.
