Field is in trouble. It was obvious he was easing back into it the first several rounds. This was the first time post injury we saw the real Eli.
We just going to ignore the fact that Jett still had the fastest lap of the main, and that following his crash, Jett's next 2 lap average was faster than Tomac's at the same point of the race?
Supercross Live
Eli didn't jump onto a tuff block. It was a tip over. And who finished 2nd and who 4th? How many dudes did Tomac pass? No one has come through the pack like that all year.
It was Beast Mode
Yes, lets just ignore Eli was coming through the pack also. The gap was dropping the whole time before Jett hit the deck if you where watching timing and scoring.

Jett has been the best guy so far this season overall because he's had top 3 speed (top 2 or 1 more often than not) in basically every race, save the mudders, while Eli has had a couple rounds looking like the fastest guy mixed in with several mediocre/bad rounds. However, as a huge Tomac fan, I've always believed that when he's on his game, he's THE fastest rider in American SX/MX... even faster than Jett or peak Chase. If he can somehow harness the flow state he was in last night and carry it into the remaining rounds, I just don't see Jett, or Chase, or Cooper beating him consistently. Jett has great speed, and like I said, he brings it to every round, similar to how guys like Carmichael and Villopoto used to. But I don't know if I've seen him ride at the absolutely insane pace that Tomac has the ability to ride at when he's in a flow state.
So tired of the Tomac hopium smokers.
From what I’ve seen when Jett gets out front he sprints out to about a 3-5 second lead then settles in.
Enough so he doesn’t feel the pressure of a guy right on his ass and he can make a small bobble and maintain the lead. He’s got some in reserve if that lead diminishes. Last night was just an ordinary mistake in a very tricky section that got a lot of dudes. No big deal. He is very lucky though he’s walked away from all these get offs with no injuries and the red plate. That won’t last forever.
I doubt the kid that just went 24-0 outdoors is sweating Daytona very much. If anything he’s looking forward to it. Should be good.
Go back and watch A1- he was intending to do exactly the same this week.
control a small lead the entire race, no dramas.
only this week, concentration lapse cost him big.
Just to make you look silly…
WHO had the fastest lap of the race?
Doesn’t fastest lap mean most speed?!
Jett had 2 laps in the mid 50s..
Eli had 1 lap in the mid 50s..
Jett’s SLOWEST (crash) lap was a full second slower than Eli’s slowest (crash) lap.
whilst Jett’s LAP AVERAGE was just 0.3 secs slower than Eli’s lap average.
REMINDER: this is whilst having TWO laps in the mid 50s vs. Eli’s one..
So remind us again, who has the most speed??
You could join a circus. Or go back to school to learn about numbers… up to you. 🤷♀️
The axe to grind is heavy with this one.
Just remember Jett's 2 tenths faster than Eli's (laps 4 and 5 respectively) was in "clean air" as they call it...Eli's numbers if stacked next to Jett's was while passing the likes of some really fast guys Hunter and Aaron come to mind. A good barometer was Copper who was 2-4 seconds behind Jett the whole race....and about 2.5 ahead of Tomac at the end (both those guys were about 12 seconds at one point).
I suspect Jett's 47 second laps were him cruising and then 45's him trying trying to turn it up again if the gap shrank (which it did a few times).
Cooper is a good bench mark for how much ground Eli made up. He was consistently 2-4 seconds with/behind Jett the whole race and Eli was maybe 12 seconds down at one point? I think he was within a couple seconds of Cooper at the finish.
Daytona should be good...which setup will they use MX of SX? I'll be at this one!
22-0*
If Jett was smart he’d manage a 10 second lead instead of a 3 second lead so he has time to crash and get up.
Where's Valveless? Every Saturday race thread it's how Tomac has no fight left in him. But, but, he's a Tomac fan. Crickets this weekend
So now jett has lapses in concentration after going 22-0 … i don’t get it?
He was in a "must situation"
Pit Row
If Tomac had got a start absolutely no one would touch him on that track.
Okay, so I personally do agree that Jett seems to like to get a gap and ride at ~95%. However, Jett crashed on Lap 24. Laps 25 & 26, can we agree he was obviously pushing to get back to Webb, and not "cruising"? His laps times on 25 & 26 were 46.972 & 46.741, which averages to 46.856. Which mind you, is faster than everyone except Tomac.
For Eli, laps 25 & 26 were a 47.021, and a 46.585, which averages to 46.803. So, even when Jett was pushing to catch Webb, and despite all the energy Eli used coming through and passing from 16th(!) to 2nd in this field, he still was faster at the end of the race. I think at this point, you'd be hard pressed to truly know who has more raw speed.
Now, you could argue Jett was flustered a bit after his crash, but we will found out soon enough if Jeffortless can hang with Beast Mode. I'm nervous for both of them actually, a lot on the line, old top dog vs the new, one wants to take up the mantle and the other is reluctant to give it up. And with Daytona coming up especially, it's all teed up. With Eli being Daytomac, apart from the championship, I'm sure Jett wants to beat him here more than anywhere. I think there's a decent chance one of them crashes and gets hurt, but I'm hoping that's not the case.
denial 🤣
I agree, he wasn't on cruise control after he saw ET coming. The kids young & probably shouldn't have said what he said about ET, but it definitely lit a fire under Tomacs ass!
I remember the "head case" assigned to Tomac by a few at Vital when something went wrong, and I would not like to see that assigned to Jett either. However, I don't think a "lapse in concentration" is sufficient to explain the multitude of crashes he has had during the season. He's crashing - like Sexton did alot last year - and still has the red plate because he has managed to get up and finish - like Sexton did last year. Last year Tomac started stronger and Sexton didn't get the red plate until the end.
Dude, I've been defending ET all season from the "Eli's too old crowd" since the start of the season. But to not acknowledge Jett's speed is juvenile. I'm a fan of both. Jett caught back up to CW just as fast as ET was catching up. Then he made a bad rookie decision to go under VF. Sans that bad decision EVEN with landing on the tuff block, Jett is #1 in that race. I'm waiting to see when both ET and Jett are battling up front. That's going to be epic.

Matthes just made a fool of himself on the review pod. Goodness.
What did he say?
Matthes is a fing idiot
Jett better not do his "get a gap and ride at 95%" routine with Tomac feeling it. He'll feel funny when ET blows past him at warp speed halfway through the moto!
The problem with riding out front is most riders take years to figure out how fast to ride. While Jett seems to have learned this very early, I don't think he'll have the luxury of dialing it back when he battles with ET. I also think he can ride well when riding at 100%. Will he have to ride over his 100%? In the sketch mode? I don't know, but we're going to find out soon enough. I for one can't wait.
