Honda can see the writing on the wall, and they think it will help climate and environment. There won’t be any e-bikes allowed or any changes to existing AMAPro Racing rules until Honda gets this bike homologated. Then it could be a flood of e-bikes and development.
Men 50+ and older was very much against dsg boxes on sports cars, since real men can use a clutch and rpm match perfectly. Well real men lost, technology prevails.
When the Stark and Honda laps much faster around your local practice track the real surge in buying e-bikes will start. Only old people and grease monkeys will stick to the dying breed.
Regardless if we like it or not, old men never win against technical advances.

The only thing that will hurt these full size e-bikes from selling on a wide scale similar to ICE bikes is price. Of course, these companies don’t seem too worried about price and sales. Realistically though, these bikes will start reaching Stark prices soon enough.
Not going to argue with you because I understand some people feel that way. I'd like you to consider another point of view.
It's not the E-bike that's going to kill the sport, it's our government taking away our riding areas and the ability to ride. The advancement of technology will give us a choice to ride something vs nothing. Our alternative is the government will not let us ride anything. So as much as some people dislike E-bikes, they are still better than nothing. Just a different way of looking at it.
A quick clarification - the gubmint typically bails out the US automakers because of mismanagement of said companies and because they continue to buy the votes of the union members by saving their jobs with the bailout, not because consumers don't want an auto with an ICE at the offered price.

At this time, no manufacturer was protesting them racing with gas bikes… now they are protesting because… is it because they are worried people won’t buy tickets to the events? Or is it a performance thing?
Ktm raced this in endurocross then protested a stark and got the rule changed the night before the event. Or did the promoter change the rule because every crowd member vowed not to attend if an E bike was on the track?
So because of the protesting of current manufacturers E bikes race this stupid E explorer shit. Not because they can’t compete on performance but more than likely because the current manufacturers are afraid they might just go head to head or be even better.

This isn't a shot at you personally and it isn't meant to be contentious, but you said something I keep hearing repeated regarding e-bikes and how much faster they're going to be versus ICE bikes because they eliminate clutching, shifting, etc., thereby eliminating the possible mistakes associated with these actions and when combined with the wide, linear and instantaneous power delivery, they are sooo much easier to ride and sooo much faster.
My question is - if the goal is simply to go faster, even if it means removing rider interaction via a clutch and gearbox, etc. (read: skill), why stop there? Why not eliminate the throttle, too? How about steering? If one follows this train of thought to its logical conclusion then the end result is riding a roller coaster or monorail at insane speeds.
Seem like overkill? Maybe, maybe not. But you can't argue that it wouldn't be much faster than an e-bike... and much easier.
What's that? Not interested in a roller coaster over an e-bike? Not your idea of fun? Geez, now you sound like the ICE bike crowd.
But that's why a lot of people who aren't interested in e-bikes aren't interested in them - they remove too much of what makes riding enjoyable - sounds, sensations, interactions with the equipment and the skill required to do so - to be enjoyable to them. And this is why some prefer 2-strokes over 4-strokes - they aren't interested in easier; they enjoy the challenge of mastering the equipment and the accompanying satisfaction when they achieve it.
It's like going to a concert but there's no sound, no stage show and no light show. Yeah, it's a lot simpler but maybe that's removing too much of what makes it an enjoyable experience?
Hopefully this helps some understand why others have no interest in e-bikes despite their touted "superiority" in some areas.
The good news is that people who want e-bikes can buy them; but I doubt ICE bikes will be a dying breed because of consumer choice.

its still live music one just take more skill and tenacity to experience and to see the band and one focuses the experience on the live music only, without addition complications that for some add to the experience but for others opens the door to the experience for far more people who’s focus is on the live performance.
Electric is more purely about mastering the track and riding technique whereas ICE have various levels of rider input to go fast and master not just the track but the machine.
Just like seated concerts or standing only concerts both are live music but purists will argue that if you don’t have to fight your way through a mosh pit to see Van Halen it’s not ‘real’ live music.
So, if a person wants more out of the e-bike, how do they get more performance out of it? No porting, no jetting changes, no aftermarket pipes.
Nothing. The only area that can be upgraded (correct me if I’m wrong) is the chassis. And, what’s the cost to replace the battery?

Point is, some people actually enjoy working on their bikes. Themselves.
Still very early but for instance with the Varg you have 2 settings adjustable by sliding a bar: power from 10 to 80 hp and engine braking/regen (you can store settings in maps and switch maps while riding). So you can adapt to the conditions and track (or between moto, enduro, trail...).
Developments to come include adjustable flywheel, traction control and power curves. With such controls at the tip of your finger, any engine mods you can think of are more about battery management systems or software.
It's a different world, who knows what Honda and others will come up with?
If you like to work on your engines obviously you would miss that with electris, or you can enjoy both, you don't have to stick to an exclusive relationship one way nor the other
Key point is that the level of control offered with electrics is much more than you could dream about with ICE.
I just really enjoy working on bikes with my kid. Much like I enjoyed working on them with my grandfather when I was younger.
When four strokes took over, it got very expensive. Now, with e-bikes a large part of what was once enjoyed will no longer be there.
I’m not saying e-bikes are bad. If they can be ridden in more areas great. I just think the days of parents spending time in the garage with their kids will soon become a thing of the past.
I’m not going to lie though. I’ll probably laugh my ass off if people have to pay to download an app to upgrade and, tune their bikes. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be one of them lol.

The battery pack has 400 battery cells, typical cost is $3 per cell, so $1,200 worth of batteries...
The media and rider's feedback is the Stark doesn't need more horsepower, but lower weight and longer range would be beneficial.
Battery technology is improving, higher capacity batteries will become available, replacing the battery cells with higher capacity will give longer range, or running less higher capacity batteries, will give lower weight. Aftermarket shops will develop the knowledge.
Like all bikes the biggest performance improvement will be adjusting and or re-valving the suspension for the individual rider.

One door closes another opens. No doubt companies will make aftermarket batteries and ESC’s and develop different programs to adjust the bike. Gas bikes will still be around for quite some time too.
Does Stark have an Elon Musk type owner? Doubt it, Tesla would most likely but non-existent without him.
That same logic has been used during times of technological advances, regardless of industry. And yet somehow, the market responds. Every single time.
Yes, gas bikes are not going away tomorrow. However, as development dollars shift to E from ice, there will be no need to design and build new aftermarket parts for ice bikes as they will just be the same with BNG. As far as ECUs go? Probably designed by a few EE guys and mass produced in Taiwan. Then some software engineers write apps, and they sell you an app? Yes there will still be suspension guys, protection armor, we'll see. Typically, tech creates jobs because efficiency goes way up and things become more affordable, and sales go way up creating new jobs, but I don't see the change making dirt bike sales go way up.

Electric bikes still have tires to change, chain and sprockets, swing arms and linkages to maintain, gearbox oil, cooling systems, etc, etc...Ever heard of Vortex ignition boxes? There will for sure be endless sources of companies finding ways of squeezing more power out of these bikes and improving durability, bling parts. Plus, gas bikes will still be around for the rest of your (and my) lifetime, so R-E-L-A-X, it's not the end of the world.
