WELCOME TO THE DNGR ZONE motherfuckerssss!!! You’re gonna be here awhile….but I agree it would be so much less douchey if he started crying and followed Austin to the hospital repeating over and over how sorry he is that he cross jumped him and put him there….oh wait that was the last guy……this time exactly what Deegan said happed DID happen. 38 started cutting the gap down fast, and a rider who has a HUGE track record of spectacular crashes, had his biggest crash ever.

I hope he ghosts rides and talks shit after every win I expect nothing less!!!!

I hope Deegan continues to win, if anything to keep the same vital folks (week after week) revved up on everything he does/says…

AF had stretched the lead back out before his crash. It was over two seconds. I think the part that rubbed people wrong was when he mentioned he knew he could pressure him into a mistake. I get deegan fans will defend him and I am neither a fan nor a hater but even I was like ehhh not a good look.

This. The way he adjusted his line in the whoops was so clutch, was very impressive under pressure like that. Man, the confidence he would have had after a win. Would have been a great title fight. Such a bummer to go down so violently.

The kid is a high school senior, the fact that adults hang on his every word to interpret it's condescending meaning is cringe worthy. He is just a shit head teenager right now, like we all were, what kind of stupid shit did we all say when we were 18 years old?

I said stupid shit and got called out on it. You learn from your mistakes by facing consequences/blowback from them, not ignoring them and getting a free pass/pat on the back.

Not a fan of him, don’t hate him either.

Cool to see someone get the first win.

I don’t see anything wrong with the podium interview, y’all just over analyze everything!

I love threads that exist to simply bash a teenager. The kid hauled ass and Forkner Forknered. Certainly not Deegan's fault, but the danger zone comment was childish.

This. Ppl learn by being called out on their shit. Nobody has a problem calling out Jett and piling on him for the stupid shit he says but for some reason Deegan is not allowed to be called out for the dumb shit he says because he has a youtube channel and is the “dangerboy”. Please. Nobody is calling for his win to be taken away or have him banned from the sport its literally just hey try not to be a douche 100% of the time maybe back it down to 75% of the time.

I think this was his 11th SX. Jett won his 8th. Like it or not they are on a similar trajectory…

His parents are trash and the kid is trash. Apple don't fall far for the tree.

A real American redneck family. Bummer for the sport to see this dumb trash family climb to the top.

Here's a different viewpoint: I love to watch him race with my 9 year old, great body position, aggressive, and looks like he's having fun. I hate to listen to his interviews with my 9 year old because we have to have a refresher talk about being humble and having good sportsmanship and refer to Barry Sanders as "the way" almost every time Deegan is on a podium.

Barry Sanders or Deion? I would get the PrimeTime comparison haha

Barry Sanders is "the way"...as in the correct example to follow.

I was very reactionary to his podium speech last night and that pointless ram of Forkner in the heat. Hopefully the kid does better in the future. His talent and drive is undeniable though. He's a gamer too and steps up to the moment. Congrats on the first of many wins

It just seems like people hate Deegan just to hate him where as others see Jett as the golden boy. And vise versa. But yes I agree if you win a race like at the highest level do what you want!

The Deegan haters need to watch the replay and realize there was some over-reaction with emotion.  I watched it again this morning and the only "cringeworthy" part of Deegan's interview was the "Danger Zone" comment.  Other than that, there was no issue with his interview.

To preface, I personally did not like his desperate pass attempt on Forkner in the heat race, nor did I like seeing him battle with his teammate Jordan Smith last year in the heat race.  I also think Hayden is often awkward in some of his interviews, but it doesn't surprise me given his isolation to life at the track.  Maybe he will grow out of it?  Who knows but not every kid is going to be super articulate on the mic at his age.

As for Deegan's podium interview, it happened after Forkner was already on his feet and walking on his own (crowd cheering loud for Forkner).  So at that point, it's just another crash in Deegan's head.  Had Forkner been unresponsive on a backboard it would have been a different story, but he wasn't.  Deegan immediately stated his concern for Forkner, said he was bummed because he wanted to dice and bang bars with him all season, and said no one wants to see anyone go out like that.  He also said "it's racing, and the pressure gets to you" which is the damn truth as it applies to everyone out there.  Pressure is a huge part of racing, and you heard both RC and JT talk about executing it.  The cringeworthy "Danger Zone" comment was made, which I don't think is a good idea but that's a different conversation.  And then, JT specifically asked him if pressuring Forkner into a mistake was his plan.  That's when Deegan responded with his comment about watching the heat race and how many mistakes Forkner was making (he said he was making mistakes too).  He figured if he could clean up his riding and apply pressure, it would be any man's race.

Deegan's plan played out perfectly.  If you watch the replay when Deegan connects with his Dad after the race he points to his Dad as if "You called it, it worked!"   And then you see Brian agreeing and saying good job as he put his two hands together imitating one rider putting the pressure on another rider.  It's clear their plan was to pressure Forkner into a mistake, and it worked.  In the replay you'll see Forkner looking backwards over a jump just before he crashed.  I wonder what Rhino will have to say about that??

Given Forkner's track record of crashing out, and especially making a lot of mistakes in the heat race, this would have been anyone's plan in Deegan's shoes.  RC said Deegan applied the pressure and executed the plan perfectly.  If Forkner's crash wasn't so severe this wouldn't even be a discussion.  In fact, it would have been the opposite with a bunch of bashing on Forkner for doing Forkner things, like you've seen here in the past.

It sounds to me like people got caught up in the emotion of Forkner's crash and heard Deegan's words a little differently than what Deegan actually said.  I understand why people feel he shouldn't have mentioned the "pressure" comment, but getting in your competitor's heads is another part of the mental game of racing.

With that said, I could see this being Deegan's next intro song as he enters wearing aviators:

Deegan is super funny to me. When he got to the track and saw his awesome Military Appreciation theme bike, his mechanic asked him how he like it and Haiden said "Kinda Lame" just to bust balls. I enjoy that humor. The kid is a superstar. (I wonder if he will have to pay royalty rights to Kenny Loggins...)

Did you see the 450 news conference when the Cowboy was in a sleeveless undershirt (Wife beater) and a KTM guy brought up a jersey for Mullet Man to put on... Classic!

Last nights race had everything.
