Congrats Deegan on your first SX win

I'll admit I did not see that coming tonight.  I thought Deegan was good for a 4th-5th tonight considering the condition of his wrist.  I thought for sure he was going backwards after Forkner passed him but he was reeling him back in before the crash.  It looks like he is getting a lot of hate for his celebration of his first win, what did I miss?

He's a bad dude, has a very bright future ahead of him on and off the bike but you too must be lacking a lot of social awareness if you can't possibly see how his comments toward a downed rider he went by lap-after-lap weren't exactly couth.

Somebody else said it before, I'm sure, but he makes it really hard to like him. That's it. But agreed, congrats to him on his win. Dude is no joke on the bike. I just don’t understand why people get so worked up over people pointing how cringey a guy is at times. Forkner has posted cringey shit online, Roczen has done it a million times. But when people point out that Deegan was the one being cringe again they turn a blind eye apparently.

What did I miss on the interview? I thought he said it sucked to see Austin go down and he wanted to battle him? Is that really that bad, or did I miss a part.

Forkner was on his feet before Deegan's interview, so it's not like Forkner was being back-boarded out and unresponsive, or not moving.  In Deegan's interview I heard him say he's bummed Forkner went down, and no one wants to see a rider go out like that, and that he wanted to battle with him, etc.  I also heard Deegan say he watched the heat race and saw Forkner was making a lot of mistakes, and that the track was very very technical, so his game plan was to try to keep it clean and ride consistent laps.  His plan was apparently working as he was reeling Forkner back in and he probably would have passed him, crash or not.   Deegan was coming.

So what did you hear?

Regarding the "Danger Zone" comment, I agree that was cheesy and I would not promote that if I was on his PR team.

Haiden is the next beast mode, him and his mechanic could be the next best duo in the sport in a few years.

AF had stretched the lead back out before his crash. It was over two seconds. I think the part that rubbed people wrong was when he mentioned he knew he could pressure him into a mistake. I get deegan fans will defend him and I am neither a fan nor a hater but even I was like ehhh not a good look.

It was definitely along those lines. It’s not a huge deal but I just initially thought dang man time and place but he was excited so I get it.

He said he was catching him towards the end and felt he had more left in the tank, and that he said you never want to see someone go down like that like he did and get hurt.

Those comments were made in the press conference. I think his podium interview was less “humble”.

He said it was unfortunate to see Austin go down, but he said it in such a patronizing passive aggressive way by saying something along the lines of not being able to handle the pressure.  Why even go there?  I like Deegan’s riding, but absolutely zero class.  Austin just had a gnarly crash and he still had to throw shade…smh

Agreed.  Kid needs a lesson in humility and also how to keep his tongue in his mouth!

His impulse is to build the brand....propel the image.

Being humble has no part in building the brand. Being genuine has no part in building the brand,

Hes Brians son.

Definitely didn’t like the interview. I can see him being the loved golden boy and also the villain of the sport. If that makes sense

Looked great, and impressive given the circumstances of his wrist injury.

That said, as a fan, absolutely disgusting to twist the narrative of that race prior to even knowing the condition of Forkner. All the talk of pressuring him into a mistake, while he's still down. Just down right in bad taste.

That said... he is a young kid experiencing lots of success immediately. He has some growing up to do, and that will come with age. The comments don't take away from his riding, just think some PR training is probably in the books.

Oh, gotcha. Ya that’s not great. Guess I really didn’t take it that way. Maybe he’ll learn from it. I know this place is looking for any worm to bite on though.

Gutted for Fork. He had this thing.

Have we forgotten that he is still a kid. And that podium speech was right after getting off track. Yes his comments about forkner were terrible but he will learn eventually. If he wasn't sorry for austin, he wouldn't have mentioned it probably. I am 19 years old and feel that I haven't learned all of what I should have. I still say dumb stuff that I regret and sometimes I don't know how to put words where if that makes sense.

I actually found it odd Anstie didn’t mention Austin since he inherited the red plate because of that crash

Great ride for him especially coming off the injury. His comments were not so great, tact helps in those situations.

Grats on him getting the win been a fan for a while, regarding his podium speech it's pretty clear that he's been a bit isolated in his circle regarding the way he speaks but on the other hand he's still a child without much life experience outside of moto, his comment regarding Forkner and pressure true or not I don't believe he meant anything bad about it, just verbal diarrhea being pumped with adrenaline after his first win.

Drama aside, I did not expect him to reel Forkner back in, the kid has drive like the best of them.

Thank you, I try my best to be a good person, most of the mx bikes community will think differently, you can dm me if you want the details, I don't want to go off topic on here, even thought it will go off topic.
