im not convinced Eli would have beaten Jett last summer.

I see it as more of a bike issue than a skill issue. All year long last year he had just straight up odd falls. The front end would randomly tuck for seemingly no reason and you could tell he began to lose trust in the bike in certain situations. Since he's moved to KTM, we haven't seen much of these issues at all. He's not perfect, he's def still trying to figure the bike out, but he seems to have those prior issues under control now. Just my .02

Last week - Tomac handily wins the late moto.   Vital - He's back! Beast Mode and shit! I told you! Everyone else sucks!

This week - Tomac has a mechanical issue keeping him grounded but he rides for all the points his bike will safely get him.

Vital - He's done! He sucks ! It's over! I called it!

My thirds cousins, fiancés husband works for the company that cleans the toilets at Star. I guess Eli was not himself after realizing that Mcadoo has bigger balls than him. Eli was always under the assumption that he had the biggest balls in “motorcross”.

Props to the only guy who got it right. Most people love to hate so the just assume that Eli forgot how to ride since last weekend. Sometimes dirt bikes break. He’ll be back

As uncomfortable as he looked, if it was a flat tire or blown shock, he would have pulled off.  He started moving backwards almost immediately.  No way he would have stayed out for the whole main event with broken motorcycle.  If nothing else, it would have provided a solid excuse for that performance.  I think the silence speaks volumes in this case.

Eli gives a fuck about excuses, he's a competitor and knows he still can win. He wants points, if he's sick as a dog, he's still going to ride for points, if the bike's a problem, he'll finish the race for points. Like him or not, ET3 is bad ass. I'm not sure why all the hate that he's done but they'll get to enjoy a meal of crow before long.

I'm not going back to read the whole thread but is there a lot of hate? Seems like fans just wondering what happened.  His riding seemed to be trending up every week and it was a head scratcher of a result. Why can't you give an honest critique of a rider anymore without being calling a hater? Or if you say something positive you're a fanboy.

"Why can't you give an honest critique of a rider anymore without being calling a hater?"

Well, then they should be honest. Name a rider that was a title contender that the very next season was so over the hill that became irrelevant, without having a career ending crash? It doesn't work like that. And that's the way people are talking. Even if Eli slowed a bit, which we haven't seen yet, he's still one of the fastest guys on the track. So who can you think of that went from hero to zero in 1 off season?

How are you not proving my point? A guy said Jett had a great ride and your response was he was sucking Jetts dicks. What am I missing here?

I'm in agreement with your assessment of Tomac. I still don't think Eli is getting hate. Maybe I've missed some comments. Again, fans are just wondering what happened. Are there posts on here saying he's done and should retire?

It's less psychologically damaging this way. The mental aspect of athletes is a fragile zone. Chad was an example of this. Don't hate the player hate the game.

Right. I'm a fan of Jett but I can also say he acted like cry baby when it came to Anderson. Hater! I'm a fan of Tomac but I can say something was wrong for him to drop anchor like that Saturday. Hater! The older I get the less I really pull for one guy. They're all such bad mfers. It lets you look at things more objectively when you don't really care who wins

The blind loyalty stuff is borderline scary.

It’s almost Taylor Swift level fandom and a lot of it is coming from adults 😂

Nowhere in my post did I say anything about him being washed up or over the hill.  I simply stated that I didn’t think he would ride an entire main event with a broken motorcycle.  Supercross is dangerous enough as it is. Keep in mind that he pulled out of A-1 due to a broken buckle on his pants a few years ago.
We know for sure that McAdoo doesn’t let a wardrobe malfunction cost him points.

Even in my follow up post, I acknowledged that chances are good that stars will align and he will likely win a race or two before all is said and done.  I do, however, stand behind my assessment that Eli’s championship run is over this year.  He would need too many great riders to have bad luck to win the title.  He hasn’t shown enough speed this year for me to think otherwise.

I see it as more of a bike issue than a skill issue. All year long last year he had just straight up odd falls. The front end would randomly tuck for seemingly no reason and you could tell he began to lose trust in the bike in certain situations. Riding style and preference - I doubt they were "the very same bike".

Same platform? Yes. Same setup? Unlikely.

As you know, with a lot of things it's a give-and-take scenario. Perhaps when Chase got the bike to where he was comfortable with it most everywhere, the tradeoff was less front end bite on flat turns.

Jett has a very neutral riding stance and may not require/request the same setup.

A more dramatic example would be two riders on the same bike, but one hangs off the rear and the other rides over the bars. I know the suspension guys will be setting them up very differently, so I wouldn't expect them to handle the same in the corners, regardless of riding style.

While I believe it was the rider and not the bike, you do know that each rider has their own setup that can be vastly different than the next bike under the same tent.

Vitards are assuming it was a shim failure, it might have been a seal failure, no oil in shock, no dampening.

Have you ever ridden a shock that had a failed seal? Completely unrideable in my experience, definitely no way anyone is riding to a 10th in a supercross main with a blown shock seal.

First: the "source" the OP referenced mentioned shims, no one is assuming.

Second: As mentioned, if you ever seen a shock seal fail or a seal head pull out of the body while riding, you'd know that isn't what you saw here. At that point you're riding solely on spring and it looks like a pogo stick and you aren't jumping anything, not even whoops. Not to mention there was no evidence of the oil on the bike. A little on that exhaust and RC would have been tongue-tied talking about the smoke and its source. Wink
