A2 was a great race, and certainly the best one of the year. The triple crown format was a big part of the reason why. Six individual races with six different winners. It doesn’t get much better than that. I’d like to see more of them.
Agreed, it was so awesome to see Eli win again, especially with what he's been through. Also, I feel this race partially proves the point of why chase wanted to get off the honda, I feel Jett will have similar crashes to what chase had last year because of the honda.
Edit: I only watched the highlights of the futures race and first two sets of moto's. I plan on watching the races I missed sometime this week.
I’m not a triple crown format fan, but I agree - great race.
I feel it’s got the season back on track after the “mudders” which throw a lot of random results up.
It has dispelled any “speed doubts” for a number of riders. Including:
Tomac post injury
Sexton on the KTM
Anderson on the new model
Watching the SX Futures race, anyone else feel like THAT is what the 250 class should be? Reminded me of an old 125cc race.
it was mentioned somewhere but honestly it should be the 450s , 250 open pro & then the futures should be split east & west , but ain’t nobody tryna have tht convo yet

I think what falls under the category of "not a popular opinion" is that Eli straight up beat Jett in that 3rd moto and didn't have that "extra gear" that people love to talk about (this is only specific to SX, so Jett luvas don't have an orgasm, i.e. cue the 22-0 comments). And when Jett pushed it to a level where he tried to make up some time on Eli, he crashed doing so. Jett is going to learn from that and become a better racer as a result. I'm not hating on Jett, I like him. That 3rd moto was vintage Tomac beast mode, which is exciting for everyone that likes a competitive series. Brutal track, beat to shit, technical to begin with and only got worse after 6 gang bangs before it - and he rode away with it wire to wire clean and fast as hell.
You can't say it was mentioned somewhere and then immediately follow that up with ain't nobody trying to have that convo yet.
It comes up on Pulp regularly, Matthes wants a under-23 250 coast and over-23/vet 250 coast, and alternately yearly which coast each respective class rides. Kids ride against kids, vets ride against vets, and lifer 250 guys have a place to stay.
I agree about A2 being great. And I do think the Triple Crown is a big reason why. That being said, I think the Triple Crown is perfect being a couple times a year, rather than if it were the primary format (that I've seen some suggest.) I do think the Triple Crown does cheapen a moto "win" and I think the longer main with 1 winner still works best as the primary format. But mixing in a few Triple Crowns makes it different and exciting. Just my opinion.
I was under the impression they went to a single moto format for all the unfamiliar fans. The New Fan could go home knowing who the winner was. I thought they were toying with the idea to move the Outdoors Series to the same, one moto, one winner.
This was one of the first triple crowns that delivered all 3 “motos”. Think they need to pay points for top 3 each moto along with overall to keep people battling even if their overall position is pre-determined(or at least for the 3rd one)
as far as the teams & at least half of the hardcore fans , cause then they will bring up it would be less jobs , team wise , Mitch at PC & others wouldn’t field a 5 to 6 man team ( even tho star has no problem having a whole football team roster of riders on payroll) etc…. & no tht idea from pulp was not wht im referring too , when I see it again I’ll screenshot it cause it recently resurfaced my FB & it didn’t come from pulp
250s need to be a full series. If 28 year old dudes are going to be taking rides and not letting up and comers prove themselves, just make it a full series. The excuse of "a 17 round series is too much for rookies" doesn't really matter anymore with over half the field being in their early to mid 20's
I like the triple crown format. Plus it makes it easier to pick your fantasy team lineup.
1 more thing I would like to add , like any other sport this is professional dirt bike racing at its highest level ,the racing is at its best comp & fan viewership wise when all the stars & the most talented racers are on the track , so why are we spliting the competition up in a PRO sanctioned class 🤔
more industry jobs and rider opportunities for the developmental division of the racing series. Its also more "regional" for privateers in terms of travel cost - which assumes there are more privateers in the lites class.

I don’t know, dude. I’m old school but I like the competition and the drama. I like the triple crown layout. It gives everybody a change to twist it!
Bring me 17 of them! Let’s go!! Also, let’s see how many down votes this will get! The excitement Triple Crowns bring is what we need to grow this sport.
It was an awesome race. Thing is, Triple Crowns are rarely that good all the way to the end. Most 3rd motos are snoozers. I still favor the single main event format, but don't mind the occasional Triple Crown.

can’t wait to watch it tomorrow… been down in PHX dealing with family stuff and i’m catching up while i drink a beer at the aeropuerto. I will be back to PHX for SX in a couple weeks and super stoked for continued great racing!
The triple crown was good timing with a dry fast yet tricky track and a bunch of hungry mfers who all think they have a shot! That was the best damn night of racing I can remember!
What Jett did last summer was amazing. That said I think he started to believe all the hype just a little bit and is now getting a valuable "learning lesson" from the boys
I think he will figure it out and be a pain in everyone's ass but he isn't going to be dominating this group of dudes in SX!
I know it is a hard night of riding their asses off and it is too much to be more than a few rounds but by god did it deliver last Saturday!
