FMF is now has the ability to purchase the new 24 KX450 pipe on their site, but everything is sold out at the moment. I saw that the IG dirt bike TV had a picture of a 24 KX with an FMF system on it and that muffler was long. Almost seemed like they adapted a pipe from a different bike for it.

Track tested this today ...

WOW- it's no joke a pipe alone is a big upgrade on Hp and rpm response -

i may go back to a 50 now  - as with stock pipe I wanted a 51 but now I might like the 50 better .

My rear end dyno - feels like 3-4hp and still very manageable but much more pulling power - much more. i had 2 other guys ride it and they never left 3/4 the whole track with ruts etc. 2nd was too peppy for their vet / skill status.

day 1 - I am very impressed - highly recommend the HGS.

Hi JkopMx, I bought one of your 3d printed air filter cages for my 24 KX450. What’s the chances of you making one that protrudes out a bit to fit the new Twin Air filter? (It has about an inch + air pocket.)

I've pondered it - as I have the twin air myself and have measured for that exact thing . No issues when we looked at it on the Dyno with the cover off so I don't believe it's an issue like it is with out a brace .

but i do believe the new twin air kit will be in here soon and that might make ours obsolete.

I'll post it in here if i do make that style .

I think you’d sell a bunch of them because the twin air power kit will probably be pricey.

Hopefully it’s rubber mounted as well

What spring rates did you're boy end up with?

This setting was great the first day, but after about 9 hours it need to be stiffer - we have the clickers all the way in and it is blowing through the stroke.  We have a fresh set of Showa suspension in over at REP getting heavier springs and updated valving.

The rider is 76KG with no gear - according to him, these forks are superior to the modified Technical Touch kit fork he is training with in Holland and Spain for the 24 450.   this Showa stuff has real potential to be an amazing fork when we figure it out.

SX? That’s a heavy fork spring for his weight. Surprised they are going with an even heavier spring rate. Did you try different bottoming cones/spring seats? The stock ones are very open and most pro level riders opt for something more restrictive.

I thought the setting was kinda soft. I was running 5.2 in my 22 with 375 cc's of fluid. I weigh 175.

Stock setting on the last gen is soft. I haven’t ridden a 24 yet. I had posted the stacks for the SR sometime ago. Basically 2 more base valve face shims and the LSV has firmer setting. The midvalve float is on the large side. I went .05mm tighter and 1mm larger clamp diameter on the mid compression. Once the damping is sorted standard spring rates scan be used but the fork does seem to like a heavier spring rate.

No supercross, he is training for MXGP and Dutch Masters.

from my understanding they are going to install new bottoming cones and add oil to the new fork we have in their shop.

You mean .52?

Or are you talking about the rear at a 5.2

You're correct, I meant .52. I think the 24 comes with.51?

Where are you guys getting parts for this bike?

I need some odds and ends but no one has anything in stock, its has to be ordered with no ETA.

The prices I saw in a few places are insane - 75.00 for a new rear fender, 145.00 for a left shroud?

Of course all the parts I need are unique to the 2024 platform.

I’d wait till February and see if the rebate doesn’t increase again I bet it does, if they’re discounted while they’re brand new and fresh off the press, imagine a month or two more.

I'd wait as well. New bike sales are not happening like they did a year ago and the slow down will only get worse in the next 6 months.

Also, having a hard time with the tuning app, there are NO directions and even though I was shown once by a guy who knows it, it's confusing.

Yeah coming from a yamaha this app is definitely not as good. At the bottom of the app if you click on options, then help, then tutorial it does give you a bit of explanation how to use it but it's definitely not great.

Being a first time kx owner just wondering how good the stock clutch is on these things?

Coming from a 23 yz450f I'm finding myself having to use the clutch a fair bit to carry 3rd gear through corners.

Add a tooth to rear sprocket! Or go faster! Lol

🤣 If only I could go faster.

Yeah I've got a 51 tooth on the rear, contemplating going to a 52 but I've got a PC pipe coming so I'll see how that goes first. It's not like it's that bad I'm just used to not touching the clutch at all.

Hangtown was deep today. PC pipe, Jkop filter cage, and 51 tooth sprocket. Night and day from stock.

Are you just running stock mapping with PC pipe? This bike feels like it wants more fuel, especially once air box is opened up.

I'm getting detonation whenever temps over 30°c and that's with a map with more fuel. Can get it to stop by removing timing but then bike is slower than my 350.

I drilled the air box, removed the exhaust baffles, and added the smallest amount of 110 VP to my fuel. Bike runs much better, pulls 3rd gear better, and feels like less vibration with the exhaust baffles removed.

Yeah think I might need to try some better fuel, it's just hard cos I live in Oz and kinda in the middle of nowhere so finding supply is the issue. Just strange that in the 20 or so bikes I've ever owned I've never had one detonate.

Was thinking of trying a cooler spark plug but not sure if it's worth it.

How do u compare it with the 23 yz450? I’m curious cuz the yz has like the best motor in the class, do u like the kx better or the yz?

Owned a 23 yz450 and now the 24 Kx and the Kx is way more rideable and feels better in my opinion. If you’re an expert/pro level rider the yz is really fast but for the average rider the 24 kx450 is, to me atleast, an awesome vet friendly bike.

Stock mapping. I’ll have XPR map my Vortex when they’re finished testing. I run T4 at 2:1 with 91 octane. I removed the rubber plug from the airbox and the foam piece that seals the side panel to the airbox. I didn’t want to drill any holes. I heard detonation once yesterday when I was a gear too high in a deep boggy rut.

I’m picking mine up this week.  What did you have to do to remove the baffles?

Remove end cap and use long needle nose pliers to rip the 2 screens out. Their about midway down the baffle.

I used a socket to open up the baffle in the end cap. Once you look at it you will understand.

You're gonna trip once you get the air filter in your hands.
