In some cases like with Bo Jackson if it dislocated and the damage isnt diagnosed properly/ correctly you can lose blood supply to the joint and the bone dies and you need a hip replacement. This is almost certainly not the case here as it sounds like it was diagnosed properly and treated as soon as possible.
Bo was the most famous one - ended the career of an incredible talent.
It was like Superman got hit with Kryptonite.
Floyd Landis also had this happen.
Floyd Landis bone died from a Femoral neck fracture that caused osteonecrosis (blood loss to the bone) not a dislocation.

I meant he had a hip replacement from an injury. I'll do better next time, thank you for correcting me.
Same hip or different??
If it's the same could it be like a shoulder where is constantly starts popping out?
when i dislocated mine it healed quickly but it was god awful painfull. i've broke a lot of things and that was the most painful injury i had. week in traction after surgery to pop it back in. then couple weeks on crutches. thats if there was no damage in the joint. so it sounds like hes got other issues around joint
Any updates on Max?
I had this injury in my late 20’s. I got out of sorts on a triple after a double. I landed directly on my left hip. I cracked my pelvis and dislocated my left leg.
i was told in the ER that they had to reset my left leg asap so that my hip joint wouldn’t die. I had several men hold me down. It was painful even while on a good bit of morphine. I ended up getting a large plate and several screws in my pelvis.
I know we’re all had injuries from this sport, but as severe as the injury was and sounds. It was the easiest rehab and I have no aches or pains after the pain from the surgery.
i could walk around the day after the surgery without crutches, but I was talked to sternly by my surgeon when he saw me doing so. He said I need to let the bone recover from the screws and plate before I could apply my full weight on the hip (6 weeks).
.So I have high hopes that Max will be back for the outdoors
If memory serves...hip is what ultimately ended Marty Smiths career.
When I got to the news about Max’s hip, Marty was the first thought that flashed through my mind. I believe it was in the Astrodome if I’m not mistaken.
