Let’s dumb it down..
90’s MC Was a league above everyone
00’s JS CR and RC owned the podium (no wheelbarrows)
10’s RV&RD show, yet JS and CR occasionally reminded everyone why they are all time greats
20’s welcome to the Eli show, his inconsistency lost him titles that he easily could have won
2024.. nobody is being handed shit..
Eli wants redemption
Coop wants to show he still has it
Jett wants to be the new top dog
Chase wants to Defend
Kenny is the best we have seen in years
This season is shaping up to be one of the greatest ever.. grab your popcorn and enjoy the ride!!!
For those wondering, this is what I had in mind for responses. Not "lets reset it every 5 years- is that what you want!!!!"
Kurt, I tend to agree with you and may push that to mid 90's to 2000. It seems like things really shifted after this point. Thats just me though.
You cry. Hard.
Not even close. SX has not changed that much since the 90s, other than the top guys have it easier to qualify now taking 9 with no semi.
If was apples to oranges then everyone - everyone - would not still be riding the MC playbook.

😂😂 still no rebuttal! You really have nothing left to say, huh?
Maybe cry "boomer" a few more times, I'm sure that works for you on TikTok.
you need some fresh air
THIS.
MC is the man. I'm 34 and can really only remember from the Yamaha days going forward (I was born in 89'). Pure dominance. Emig and Lusk always being a tick off the pace, but right there if he made a mistake. I remember the first time DV caught and passed MC and it blew everyone's minds.. someone finally did the impossible. And then RC coming in and taking his licks trying to beat him before figuring out what it takes. He was a living legend those days and his record is still very relevant. The 90s tracks were different but they were much more "modern" than tracks in the 80s when they were still figuring it out. Whoops, big rhythm lanes, triples. I don't see how you could rationalize his record as not being relevant.
OP is either a troll or a kook. Or both
More ad hominem insults: the last resort of a man (or child in this instance) with nothing logical left to say.
McGrath will always be king, thats why on the back of every dollar it says "In MC We Trust"
This is just sad
I think I will start a thread saying RC's records are irrelevant since he didn't race after the 2010's.
Roger d is pissed now. Lol. His dont count
That was my next post actually.
Thank you.
It attracts some real turds too dingleberry.
OP you're underestimating the size of the industry and level of competition in the 90's. There were only 4 factory teams but they would commonly carry 3 riders each. Then you had some powerhouse factory supported teams like Noleen Yamaha and Honda of Troy that would have 3-4 riders each with many past champions on their rosters. Nobody was working construction during the week and making a 250 main on Saturday.
Sorry, called dibs on being the next dumbass to post on vital.
We should just wipe the records every year! Boom, fixed the issue lol
In the 90's, the best riders in the sport lined up on the gate and raced to see who could finish first.
Same as today.
Pit Row
Yea until the OP gets the answer he wants
Go watch the races from the MC era. Pay attention to the tracks, pay attention to the margin of error difference between riding a 250 two-stroke and a fuel-injected 450. That triple out of the corner in SD? NOT getting jumped in 1998.
Yes everyone is on equal equipment, but the skill gap is much smaller because of the equipment.
There is an element of training and progression to have so many riders on the same second in timed qualifying, but the bikes and tracks have a lot to do with it as well. Tracks are MUCH more forgiving now. You think the track builders would have moved that last 3 footer Jett cased at A1 in 1998? Nope.
This sport is still gnarly as hell, but it's still dumbed down from the do or die peaked out tracks from MC's era.
OP is old enough to know better, unless he wasn't a fan until recently. But dude, when you are nearly the ONLY voice, in a sea of expert voices, saying something....maybe take a good look around and realize you're not as educated as you think you are.
Do you think it was as difficult to pull a premier title back then as now? This is of course off topic and we dont base records off difficulty but just curious. Obviously I think no, but want to know your take.
You've used em all up in here sorry
I don't think OP even knows the answer he wants. He has disagreed with everyone that puts up a good opinion.
Lol nah, you take the crown in here my friend.
I never asked a question, i asked for some perspectives and counters to my statement. I see the 72 number get toted out every weekend and slobbered on and just think it's kind of out of touch is all. I have changed my mind a bit since reading the 3-5 intelligible replies in here. It's a motocross discussion forum dude.
Yes. Guys like Emig, Lusk, and Windham were phenoms with pedigrees every bit as impressive as Tomac, Dungey, Stew and RV. They just couldn't beat MC in supercross.
It is a discussion. People gave honest answers, and you just came back with insults. So people just started posting more about how dumb this post sounds. You took your shot and missed, by a lot.
Dude, your thread TITLE is a question. Wow.
Jeremy's style is still relevant today. He didn't scrub, but he absolutely brought in staying low to a new level. The tracks also took a quantum leap forward from his first title in 93' to his last in 2000, even compared to today. 99-2000 had some serious whoop sections plenty of guys couldn't skim all that well. Watch daytona 2000 if you're bored. It's a great race, with a track that would be difficult by todays standards.
Yes, he's relevant.
You were doing so well with this username, versus your previous ones (grouper, among others).
Don't have another meltdown.
