Reminds me of the Aprilia, especially the front fender

The look is somewhat unconventional, but I would expect nothing less from Ducati. It’s a big deal for moto for them to be competing. Can’t wait for them to start racing

"100% Italian" ..... with Showa forks.

Looks like a dirtbike! Really though, looks really good if not a little safe design wise from Ducati. It’s an honor to have a company of their status deciding to re-enter the motocross world after 50 or so years. The name and brand itself carry such a weight that it will only bring in more eyes and potentially more outside sponsors if we are lucky. Pretty big day for Moto if you ask me!

Anyone have any understanding of Desmo valves? How’s it likely to affect the engine character? And will it be a plus for MX application?

If Ducati go down the max power route as they did in motoGP and superbikes  I don’t think it’ll help much, current 450’s are already too fast/fast enough with many pro’s smoothing out power/slowing down the bikes.

lol hey don’t shoot the messenger, it was said by the ceo in Italian and translated, so maybe marketing be or maybe mistranslation! Either way, we got a Ducati Mx 450! Pretty damn awesome to me!

Thought the flex-box thing was gonna be some variable length/opening intake tract / air box / air boot contraption but I see it's just a race photo/video hosting sponsor 😂

Looks interesting, we'll see how it goes I guess.

The fact that this bikes comes from the same company as Audi Porsche and Lamborghini is super cool in itself! They might be very expensive. But this is the luxury in two wheel industry, the Ferrari of motorcycles. There isn’t a shortage of money behind this. If they want to shape up things in moto they can do it big time!

Some good seats available for 2025. I think it will push some old dogs to keep racing. Ducati gonna racing 450 SX directly next year ?

Exactly! Lots of money, engineering talent and a serous appetite for winning. The culture of wanting to be the best at all costs is what has me excited about Ducati joining the fray. Can’t wait to see them up and running for the US series next year!

Triple clamps look interesting, the lower fork mount looks fairly radically different to anything else out there.

It doesn’t have valve springs and the valves are closed mechanically. So it should have a very fast revs and rev higher. No valve float.

Anyone know of they’re going the Bobby Hewitt/Triumph route in the states and creating a new team, or do they plan to making an offer to an existing squad like HEP?

A desmodromic can do higher rpms (the 800ccm MotoGP Ducati could do 20,500 rpm) and higher valve acceleration than a conventional system (bucket or finger follower). It’s right up there with systems with pneumatic valve spring. So Ducati will have more freedom in that area and will be able to (theoretically) get more power out of the engine. Disadvantage of the system is that it needs more space. The big cylinder head proves that.

I dig it! I like that the two vents on the shrouds look like the vents on the Panigale V4 fairings!
