Just the night show itself is as confusingly pointless as all of this is too if you zoom out.

3 hour night show where 2.5 hrs of it has “races” that the winner of really doesn’t matter. The last 30 minutes are the only races out of the 3 hours of races that even matter.

so all night long you’re watching people win races and then if they do poorly in the last race none of that mattered.

its so terrible to watch and explain and listen to.

That's what's great about SX, its not like all the other stick and ball sports. Or even other motorsports, Go to an F1 race lately? Max starts at the front, 75 laps later he wins, he starts at the back, 75 laps later he wins.... boring.

Nascar ? Everyone starts on the run, (which is kinda cool) 500 laps later of turning left, you have a winner,,, unless there's a big crash....boring.

Moto has lots of gate drops, 2 different classes, heat races, LCQ's all building to the final main events and then a sprint to the checkers.... best 3 hours of Motorsports on the planet!

There are 3 series with champions.
He’s only a rookie in Sx.
He’s a veteran and champion of MX and SMX.

🤷‍♂️

Wait... We are calling Jett a Veteran after being in the class for 6months?

It’s semantics and it’s fucking stupid. That would be like a football team going to the Super Bowl and call every player on the team that has never been to one a rookie. See, it’s fucking stupid.

Semantics...

Jett Lawrence won A1 in his rookie 450SX debut after 36 previous 450 class gate drops.

Josh Grant won A1 in his rookie 450SX debut after 1 previous 450 class gate drop.

Which one sounds more impressive?

This simplifies it as easy as can be. Well said.

By that math the guy who won 21 straight races after his debut race sounds more impressive.

Jett doesn't even worry about him being considered a  "rookie" he would say he is just a racer and the rest can argue about something he doest put any thought into.

You can also say Jett tied Josh Grant for 44th in all time SX wins after his first attempt at that same discipline.

Add Kenny in and it gets even better, prior to him winning the 2014 A1 on a 450, he had never once raced a 450. He raced like 3-4 “450 class” races in 2013 but did so on a 350. So he’s our one and only true legend that had never raced a 450cc motorcycle! They’re all bad ass and it makes for good bench racing.

Good point, and to me that makes Kenny the biggest badass of all of them for the "winning A1 your rookie 450 year category".

I was just gonna post this 😅 If people are gonna grasp at straws saying Ken never raced a 450 because he rode a 350, this counts.

Rookie in SX, unless you count the four years he raced 250s of course. If he moved up after three years in 250s like James, or one year like Bradshaw or Reed, how likely would he have won his 450 debut? Few of the Greats spent more than three years in 250s. Such a manufactured stat, so Deegan or Beumier spends six-eight years in 250s and win their first 450 race, they win their debut too. Jett will have plenty of achievements, he may become one of the greats, he doesn't need patronization.

No way a casual fan on motocross knew Grant won his first race after racing 1 race the year before!

So there's never been a rookie by most of logic in here, cause these guys have be practising on bike for 3 or 4 months before a season starts. Or no someone who wins outdoors in his first try isn't one in that series cause he races the bike in sx first. I dunno why Jett gets under your skin so much

To me, Roczen and Grant's wins at A1 are more impressive than Jett's considering Jett had 36 gate drops on a 450 in the 6 months prior.  That's much different than coming to A1 only having raced a 450 once previously.

With that said, Jett's undefeated MX season is more impressive than either Roczen's or Grant's rookie MX season.

I know Jett is the real deal and I expect him to continue to dominate for years, but the A1 hype over the other riders who have done the same with with only a race or two under their belts is not the place to glorify Jett's achievements IMO.

Because he hadn't raced a supercross on a 450 before.

Tripes probably drove himself to the race in his parents van. This sport has no respect for it's history. Lars Larson was on Gypsy Tales repeatedly going on about Honda's historic season, totally ignoring Yamaha's year they won all the titles with Hannah, Burgett, and Glover. You talk about Distefano as a teenager in hotel Dodge, or Marty Smith racing the world and national championship the same year, or Ward and Omara doing triathlons their off weekends, or Desoto sleeping in a car to race, and all you get is "what about Jett", or "when does Deegan race?" from todays moto media/fans.

And yet, still no mention of the Beast from the East, who at the tender age of 6 years, 7 months and 12 days, slew the giant known as Rick Johnson (who had won 317 straight races at that point) in the Osaka SX, his first Pro win.*

Exactly, just add Bradshaw to this as he only had 1 AMA Sx gate drop previous to his A1 win in 1990

genuine question.. being the first event.. is this equivalent to the SMX? New series starting, no first winner. and every one was skeptical of if the tracks would work.  If not.. what's the difference?

Yea pretty much it's exactly the same as monster cup

The superbowl of "motocross" is statically a mx race. It was also not part of the motocross series. So it was just a novelty race.

The 1st race that was statically sx was daytona 75. So peirre Karsmakers was the 1st to win a sx.

We're coming up on the 3rd race of the year and we're still arguing semantics? The irrational dislike of a rider because of media attention for him, is wild. It's not anything he actually did. Oh right, he's cocky. I really pull for Sexton more but I'm finding myself wanting to see Jett just bury everyone. Just to shut all these people up

Dungey won his rookie year in 2010 after being on the 250 for all of 2009. The part that is confusing or misleading with Jett's stat is that he moved up Mid-year and didn't start supercross as a 450 rookie like pretty much everyone else had done.
