in texasSo I am drinking a beer and staring at this beautiful hand-built bike from Italy. I can't believe I splurged.

My buddy bought a 2023 and I spent some time on it at Rio Bravo and it is really good.

I have a collection of 2005 Suzukis that are pretty modded and fast and hard to ride. I decided I wanted a 2 stroke with a go button that is easier to ride.Us old guys are lazy.

Hopefully, Rio Bravo opens tomorrow before the freezing weather and rain come in. I putted around my track today to do a heat cycle but I want to get it on the big fast track, not the goat track.

Do you think this is the next vet go to bike?

What could you add to it to make it better?

Cheers!

we need a ride report even if it's just up and down the street

All kinds of stuff can be added, none of it is necessary. I am a Rekluse Torq Drive clutch pack fan, so I added that and the slave. No need to though...bike is fantastic stock. Jet per the chart, surprisingly accurate. Enjoy!

I have a 2 acre track on my ranch that Vernon McKiddy built and I just did a short heat cycle. It felt a little fat and lazy then when I got in I saw I was in rain mode so IDK.

Mitchel built me a fire-breathing 2005 RM 250 and it feels way weaker. My buddy's bike already has Mitchel's suspension but all stock and it was amazing.

What does the clutch pack do/improve?

I like the way it provides a nice, secure lower end feel, especially in turns and such. Could(probably) be all in my head.

Yes, the tank is wide compared to My RMs. It is 2.5 gallons.

To be fair almost all other bikes are wide compared to an RM.   They are the definition of slim and snappy.

Congrats, 300 smoker with a carb...winning.

I grabbed a steal on a low hour '24 300SX with all the right mods in place. I didn't want to go injected, but the electronic PV and ignition mapping...Butta'. These 3 stroke are the perfect 4 stroke alternative, IMHO. Went +1 tooth out back for 3rd gear in tight rutted turns. Yeah, '22 YZ250F on the out, but my upgraded 200SX had it collecting dust already.

I live 15min from Rio Bravo, I've given up on them being opened and any amount of rain equals sketchy rut fest and snotty. Unfortunate.

Beautiful bike, congrats !  You get it from Ronny @ Big Country ? Was in there last weekend they didn't have an RX on the floor but couple of RR's iirc.  Was interested in getting a '24 300RX but trade-in values have just tanked. My '22 GG 450 in pristine shape w/35hrs wasn't worth trading in so in my brilliant mind :-) i figured just buy the RX and have best of both worlds, a 2t and a 4t, so im on the prowl for one

Sweet bike there.  My son picked up a '22 last year and let me moto down at the local track.  It has really good power; more torquey and broad than I remember from my CR250 2t days.  You'll notice a meaningful difference in Sun-Mode, there's plenty of power there.  I was able to hit stuff out of corners like on my 450, so the power delivery impressed me.  The tank is really wide, no getting around that.  Most importantly, my son loves it.  Enjoy your sweet new ride!

Right? Today is 34F with a feels like of 25F so I am out until it warms up. We usually ride Fridays if they are open. We are trying to increase the amount of guys for Friday so it makes sense for her to open for us.

No Ronny wasn't sure when he would get any more so I bought it at 3 Seas Recreation out of NY. They were great to deal with too, highly recommend them.

I have used Ronny for repairs for years. He runs a good shop and I wish I could have bought it there but waiting a couple of months wasn't in the plans.

If I were a two stroke guy, I would certainly be on a Beta or perhaps a Sherco.

The Yamaha is a really solid, nice antique and I am not looking to flash back to the exact bike I rode 20 years ago. So Yamaha is out.

The Austrian wonder bikes have done away with one of the only things I truly miss about two strokes- simplicity . So I would not buy an austrian bike...

Beta or Sherco for sure

Bunch of us old, slow and fat ride at 3P or Ultimate if not off at vintage races.  BTW we run a vintage series at Waco Eagles track on 3rd Sundays of the month. Bring one of those bad boy RM's out as we have a class for them ( Bomber Class - any bike 2014 and older )  Headed out the Ultimate in few as it's warmer down there today.

I have a 21 300RX still. It’s been my favorite bike ever for quite a while now. If I can only have 1 bike at a time, this is the one Honda down. Wish I had the KYB shock like the newer ones though.  I fought the Sachs shock for a bit before I got it dialed in good.

waiting on my 450RX to show up yet though.

Thanks for the compliment on the shop.

I havent been able to ride them both enough to give a great review with winter being here. But the little I did, I prefer the no vibration of the Husky hands down. I like the suspension on the Beta better. More to come with weather improving.

i'm watching this, IMO it's hard to beat the counterbalanced engine since it is so somooth. I want to buy a 2023/24 tx300 or 300xc, just a little leary still of the tbi vs the carburetor. Let me know what you think about the injection vs. the carb.

Why don't you guys ride at Rio? I used to love the 3P vet track until the flood hit. I hate riding in the sand so it is a no-go for me. Is Ultimate the same track as way back in the 90s? Does it have that long whoop section?

I guess I got lucky because I feel no vibration at all on mine or the one I rode at Rio. Actually smoother than my fire breathing RM250 that JM built.

You will have to ride it back to back with an Austrian 2 stroke to know. In the Austrian bikes there is literally no feel of the engine of any kind, it’s unreal smooth. But, I’ll agree with you that when compared to an old 2 stroke like the RM or even the latest YZ 2 strokes the Beta doesn’t vibrate as much.
