It’s 2024 and Eli had a bad A1 after looking good in practice and the heats. Why haven’t we learnt that he’ll likely be ok?
in 10 years or so the current Jett fans will be the ones hanging on desperately to the hope that he can beat whoever the new talent is then, but for now the Tomac guys who were talking big pre A1 genuinely just shut up and enjoy history being made. Your guy's time is over and all your sour comments about "wait for X nr of wins" is pointless, he went perfect in his first MX season, stop trying to deny greatness its exposing your delusion
- nobody is even saying he will be beaten straight up its all "well what if....", yeah maybe he gets punted in turn one and ends up in 5th, doesnt change anything about his level compared to others and not even the Tomac fans will entertain someone straight up beating him, its always a "what if.." scenario, that alone shows we all believe the same thing since we haven't spoken of anybody (Deegan fans sit down) else like this in years. Stop with the veiled hate and bend the knee
.
I remember all kinds of talk that James was going to break Mcgrath's record when he was on a 125. It's just that there wasn't all the social media crap back then.
If that's the case then it backs up what I'm saying...history has shown that it's absolutely foolish to make these claims after one race....The conversation should start after 50...

Not disagreeing but he was asked what his goals were. It's not like he is puffing his chest and saying he is going to beat it, just that he would like to.
I have no issues with him stating his goals although he probably should keep that one closer to his vest for a while....it's his super fans that are already giving him the crown.....On another note could you imagine what it would be like if Deegan stated the same goal?
I agree, people want to burn down the internet if the guy who is not their "#1" says something. I think people forget that 45 years ago we all said we would be pitching during game seven of the world series or how many have counted down and shot the Bball. So he said he would like to beat Mcgrath Eh. I'm still waiting on Factory Honda to need a washed up broken down not that fast 53 year old (soon 54) test rider.
Eli just needs to be "in the mix" until Daytona. That's when things will get interesting I think.
the real unknown is how a six month sideline may effect a top rider's accumulative ability. I highly doubt there's any data around this. yes he feels the same in his mind getting back on the bike and training, but is there a mysterious, unmeasurable deficit caused by that time off. we're talking about one of the most finely tuned athletes, and equally mysterious is how someone at their peak gets to their peak. their beast mode. I would argue this supersedes training and laptimes at the track. it's that mysterious extra and how it happens for any athlete imo is outside the realm of measurement and data. likewise a six month hiccup in that momentum, could it similarly diminish that X factor? personally I DON"T think that will happen with Eli. I believe he will show up in an amazing way, but it's something they "could" be experiencing in the 3 camp.
As many others have said, I don't think his A1 performance is any indicator of how he will ride as the season progresses. His 2023 A1 was the only A1 I ever remember him performing well at... this is usual Eli.
What I will say makes this a bit different than past seasons is that he is now down 12 points to a dude who is riding probably the biggest high we've seen in the sport since James Stewart. Of course, shit happens, and it's not even close to a guarantee that Jett will be 1st or 2nd in every main this year... but I do think he'll be more difficult to topple than Jason Anderson was in 2022 or Ken Roczen was in 2020. Eli will need to match Jett's speed and start ahead of him more often than not, which nobody has done consistently.
Either way, Eli has earned every right to go out there as long as he wants. He's an absolute legend and we're lucky that we get to watch at least one more season of him.
Can we get an update on popular opinion on whether or not Eli's washed up.
/sarcasm
Aged well like it always does.
Yea I’d say he’s washed up. Eli normally showers right after the main event.
Lotta rounds to go.
After one race it was a ridiculous thread.
LOL...2nd in the what will likely be the toughest race (in SX) this year............
Yeah, last night was really a race about raw speed instead of surviving. Thank god all the races are held in knee deep mud so we can use this as a gauge for the future.
It's as much as a gauge as last week was....

Ya mean like the 2018,2022 mxon. Those dont count?
Tell me more about your quad adventures in your backyard son..
It’s hilarious Tomac has an off race at A1 while returning from a destroyed Achilles rather quick. And the haters were acting like he’s done. And doesn’t have it anymore. Got to love Vital 😂😂🤦♂️. These were the same people who were already saying Jett is going to win every race this season after winning A1… They we’re already stamping an undefeated season.
And jett beat tomac in the mud. Mxon. Lol. 2022 , now all of a sudden jett cant ride in the mud, selective memory some have.
Anyone in their right mind knows it will take Eli some races to get back up to speed. Meanwhile, he’s staying in the top 5.
I think they are all lucky no pro gncc riders showed up.
Or maybe he had a big points lead from sexon crashing every wk and did nt need to beat him every wk end . Smart racing if u ask me. Bar a freak injury he would have won it easy
To look at the facts, at A1 Tomac’s average lap time was 2.4 seconds per lap slower than Jett. He was over 50 seconds behind at the end and if the race was a few laps longer, would have been lapped. To say he is off a bit is an understatement even if his fans think it was just his normal A1. For him to have a shot at winning the title, he a LOT of work ahead of him or he needs to hope for a mudder each weekend. All delusional Tomac fanboys please give this a thumbs down.
One werej he loses to Jett. The following week he was faster than Jett and finished ahead of him. 2 races and he has beaten him 50% of the time,
It’s almost as if different tracks and conditions can suit different riders better… also that some nights a rider can just feel it while other’s don't.
Tomac is still in the mix for podiums. With such a stacked field he might not be in the podium every week. But no rider will be. He might not win the title. He is definitely a contender for it though.
🤦♂️ so much of this is laughable. The truth is Eli is coming back from a serious injury. Ahead of schedule nonetheless. And it was only the first race of the season.
He was lapped in the third race, that never happens to other championship contenders, his career is obviously over!
Ok, keep believing that.
