Just terrible. Wrecks peoples seasons, terrible tv. Nothing about it is good. Move the race to another day

People will b***** about anything. Last year they complained they postponed Oakland, and now they complain they raced in the mud

Nothing super about it, sx should be indoors, mx outdoors in the weather.

Nothing is wrong with a bit of mud, but racing in conditions like tonight is just retarded. Be like cars racing in 3 inches of water

I just feel bad for the privateers without the big budgets destroying their bikes. Besides that, mud makes it interesting and, unpredictable. Look how well McElrath did tonight.

It’s okay, just remember you’re going to the Lawrence VIP experience at a track near you soon.

What do you expect them to do? They rescheduled a race last year when it was obvious it would be untenable.  But once you decide to have the race, you cant just cancel it. NBC wont take kindly to that shit.

Equal track equal conditions…what? It’s racing.

You realize that sometimes amateur GNCC racers do this for 2-3 hours for weeks in a row sometimes right?   I think everyone will be ok.

Surely better than not racing at all? Do you realise how much it takes to put on an event like SX? You can’t just ‘move it to a different day’. This is a predominantly outdoor sport and you have to deal with all variables and conditions. The track was the same for everyone

100% agree.   The little guys suffer the most.     It was a really interesting night though... gotta love the unpredictability of weather effects.

I don’t get this kind of comment. This event has likely been in planning and production for at least a year. Thousands of tickets sold. People traveling to the race. All the teams work and coordination to make it happen and you just want to cancel it?

Postpone to a different day? Happens all the time in racing

From the race thread:

-after one heat race-

”They should make the whoops into rollers so the track is more racey”

-whoops are changed into a few large rollers shortly after-

”WTF! The only place people could pass on this track just got ruined. It’s the Lawrence’s fault! 😡 “

Shortened races should be awarded 1/2 points.

Lump, don’t forget the wheel barrows of 50 and 100 pounds of mud… or something like that 😂

Always nice to have one mud race a season. Don't be soft.

SX is not normal racing. They’ve had to move all the dirt into the stadium, build the track, then afterwards they have to clean up and move it all out again. The parking and pits setup at SF has been a logistical nightmare, they had to organise all of that, shuttles from the parking etc. Sold thousands of tickets that they would then have to potentially refund. In the end, the race ran fine.

I think having the second race of the season be a mud race is great. Everyone leaves the opening round with questions, you’re waiting for another race to validate what you saw at A1. None of those questions got answered tonight, the questions and early season intrigue rolls on for another week
