is the real nightmare for this field. he's the best holeshot artist I may have ever seen and imo that's the worst problem for his competition.
Best ever? Never heard of some guy called Mike Alessi?
Traction control.
I'm with you. He is top 3 on pretty much every start he has done on a 450. It's one thing he has over RC or Stewart when they were dominant. They were both faster like Jett, but we're also working through the field a lot. Jett is a machine so far. We saw last year the one bad start he got in smx he didn't do as well. But he rarely starts poorly.
I agree, his start stats have to be absolutely ridiculous. He is always at the front and once he's up there he's gone. I was thinking about this the other night as well after A1, how amazing his starts are. If he was like everyone else, he would occasionally get tangled up and taken down like Roczen and Mookie. But no, he's always been up front and staying clean so far.
Everyone needs to pray for him to get some bad starts or we're in for some snoozers.

This thread at least needs a good picture of this badass Holeshot craft. What a thing of beauty, best factory bike in History
No. Jett's results would be exactly the same on any other bike.
Whada ya mean No! that bike above went 22-0 outdoors in 2023 and just beat the most stacked A1 Supercross field in History on Saturday. Find a factory team bike that's been better and more Dominant than the 2023-2024 HRC 450. It's the Latest and the Greatest! The perfect factory racing bike.
Jetts results would be exactly the same on a Suzuki
Riding the 250 which was under powered compared to the competition made racing harder at the time but has done wonders for his 450 racing.
Jett is definitely one of the best starters in the sport, we just dont really notice it because he does so many other incredible things that it doesnt stand out. With alessi or vince the great starts stand out because thats the thing theyre known for and they excelled at it. After theyd get their good starts though the top guys would work their way past them and they end up mid pack. The disparity between their riding/results vs their starts is so huge that it really stands out. Jett is ALWAYS at the front so when hes at the front off the start it doesnt stick out and hes just supposed to be there and we expect him to be there.
Hes so good at starts that we still dont really know how well he will move through the pack from a bad start, we still havent really seen him need to do it. Just today on the matthes podcast they were saying how they still want to see how he does when he gets a bad start and has to claw his way forward. I’m sure hell be good at it, but hes so good at the start that we still dont really know.
It doesn’t hurt that he weighs 100lbs either. It would be cool to see what everyone’s power to weight ratio is bike/rider total and the hp of the bike. Not that any team would ever let horsepower number out to the public.
Exactly, so for twenty years the hrc bikes must have been junk. Lol. Better tell kroc, tomac their titles dont count
There were a few times out doors, off the line midpack but came out of first turn up front. Finds incredible gaps between the riders to exploit. Seems to feel out the track early then decides where and how fast he wants to go.

Hint to any of the filmmakers out there - a slow mo of Jett when the gate drops would be a very interesting watch
He's not that small in mx terms actually. 6', Probably 165lbs. No smaller then his competition
There is no doubt that he is an excellent starter and one of the best we've seen. And it's critical to his success in SX where his speed difference is much less in SX than MX and passing is more difficult. He keeps getting out front on lap 1 and he's going to put a lot of wins on the board.
Say no more

The front wheel doesn't touch the ground after leaving the gate!
Pit Row
I wonder if the reason he's so fast out of the gate is because with his front wheel never touching the ground it eliminates the rolling resistance of that front tire, increasing his acceleration
It maximizes rear wheel traction, all the weight is on the rear wheel.
I wouldn't say he was a holeshot artist exactly on his 250. Usually there were blue riders in front of him.
This^
See: Athena GET ECU perfectly tuned.
It would be interesting to see a dyno comparison of Star's and HRC 250s.
Yep been in the sports since the 60's and I would have to say he's one of the best I've ever seen.
I just hope it doesn't happen every race as he will turn it into a snoozer.
All these factory teams have Electronics / traction control. TC on its own can't get it done.
There is so much more involved other than Electronics....chassis, suspension is also a factor with achieving to ideal run to the first corner.
Ultimately great technique and shit hot reflexes make the difference which is why Mike Alessi was a great starter. Jett appears to have Alessi's gift.
Hunter has the same equipment as Jett. Jett's telemetry is available to him and his crew to study but he has not executed his starts as well as Jett has.
which points to great bike setup, hooked up!!!!
Wow
Yes but dynos don't tell the full story. The bike could be a monster on the dyno but not be good on the track and vice versa.
That's because the blue bikes are quicker. If Jett had blue power on the 250s, he would have been a lot better with starts. Give him the same power so the field is even and you now see what happens.
