All warfare is based on deception.

Hence, when able to attack, we must seem
unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disor-
der, and crush him.

For the record, I'm not a Russian shill like Swordfish and Paperclip. I'm team Ukraine and want Putin and his cronies gone. Praying for you and the whole region to hopefully have that come to fruition sooner than later.

Understandable that you would back off from posting here.

Shame though because your perspective is greatly valued.

I want the war over with too,  once again its a question of how much money is enough, and to be frank, I believe enough has been donated. The Canadian military is absolutely crumbling, the government was billions trimmed from that budget, yet we're good to go with donations? I don't discriminate with government waste, they're in line to donate 5 billion to the Philippines for climate change,  10 million to Iraq for youth unemployment. endless waste. Money we flat out don't have, yet my taxes are up every single year.

I'm Ukrainian Italian heritage, the language was spoken in my grandparents home, for reference.

So this thread stemmed out from another that the OP decided was too full of opinion. In the other thread I wrote way back then, when the convoy was stuck in the mud, they should have just sent enough military equipment to end it then. The answer was "Russia has NUKES, you can't piss of Putin" My response was the longer you let this go, the bigger the problem and the harder it will be to stop it. Here we are long after the fact, many people dead, and no end in sight. Good thing we never sent those jets and missiles and whatever when it was a small problem. It could have been over real quick, and nobody could have siphoned of billions of dollars for their own pockets at the expense of dead people. I hate fucking war! Kind of like welfare, you give people just enough to not get by that success can never be had.

I hope Congress gets their stuff together and continues to get Ukraine what they need to continue the fight. Putin will never stop. Their military is being completely decimated at no cost of US life. Less than 3% of our military budget is taking down what was thought to be for decades the world’s second most powerful military.

So it’s ok if it costs Ukrainian lives? There are a lot of dead people now due to the fact that the US sent all that money. Now we’re in the same place we were a couple years ago except we’ve turned a generation worth of Ukrainian men back into mud. The money didn’t and never was going to win the war, it just prolonged the inevitable at the expense of human life. Mission accomplished, boys.

I don't have a crystal ball so I have no idea what will happen.  All I can do is look at history and the actions of people.

If I see a guy shooting at folks...on the other side of town...I'm not gonna say, "Not my neighborhood...not my problem".  I'd rather call the cops before the dude IS in my yard.  Old Putin doesn't seem like the type to change directions.  I don't expect him to "invade" the US but there's more than one page in his playbook.

I think at least half of every countries populace believes their leaders are corrupt tyrants or at least idiots.

Would you feel any different if your tax money was being spent to fight off an invasion of Canada or Mexico?  Especially if you lived near the border?

It's my belief that the Russias, North Korea's, Irans and their ilk will continue to spread their destruction until they are stopped.  Whether that's by force or a giant fucking meteor...there will be blood.

"It's my belief that the Russias, North Korea's, Irans and their ilk will continue to spread their destruction until they are stopped.  Whether that's by force or a giant fucking meteor...there will be blood."

Exactly. Russia and China are a huge problem in Africa and Iran supports both these countries.

Russia is plundering gold in Sudan to boost Putin's war effort in Ukraine - Google it and see the genocide caused by the Russian special forces. Evidence also suggests that Russia has colluded with Sudan's beleaguered military leadership, enabling billions of dollars in gold to bypass the Sudanese state and to deprive the poverty-stricken country of hundreds of millions in state revenue.

The heavily sanctioned 71-year-old (Putin) controls a shadowy network of companies that includes Wagner, a paramilitary group linked to alleged torture, mass killings and looting in several war-torn countries including Syria and the Central African Republic (CAR).

https://www.defenceweb.co.za/governance/governance-governance/russia-in…

Then there is China, quietly loaning huge amounts $$$ Dollas to poor African countries who have no hope of honoring the terms of repayments. China then gets land in leu of payments. Same deal with Russia.

Sadly the South African government supports both China and Russia...the African National Congress (ANC) has sold us out.

The world is at War. Trouble is everywhere and the dark clouds are gathering on the horizon.

I would prefer nobody die. The US sending military aid to Ukraine is the least bad option for Ukraine. There are no good options in war. It has given them a fighting chance and they are far exceeding expectations.

Apparently Ukraine should just open the door and let Russia in. Roll out the red carpet for Putin while they’re going. That will really stop him from continuing on his merry way, into the Baltic's and whatever else he feels like.
Most ridiculous idea ever presented.

Or then they like to say that the line should be frozen… just until Putin feels like everyone has forgotten the first disaster, so he can go again.

Putin will never stop. Well if that's the case let's exhaust our military and financial coffers in the hopes this war continues indefinitely. Single moms and seniors in this country want a little gore to go with their waste from their tax dollars.

I disagree with this statement.

The Russian army is operating in a country that isn’t theirs. That is the reason for the lives lost.

There would have still been a lot of dead people had we not sent money, weapons, and aid to Ukraine. It just would have been death under Putin's regime versus them dying fighting for their country's freedom from Putin.

You know, for a forum so full of freedom loving Americans, I'm a little surprised to see people advocating for Ukraine to just stop fighting and let Putin in.

Let me pose a hypothetical, if Canada had the military capability, and were to invade to US and impose our laws and taxes, would you allow it in order to avoid a fight? Didn't think so.

The USA would allow Canada in just like we are allowing people through our southern border. That and eventually we wouldn't be able to defend ourselves anyway because we pissed away our resources meddling in other people's issues. A better way to rephrase your question would be if we got invaded by Canada who would or could we get to pay for our defense.

At the base of all these issues that the US citizens are facing foreign or domestic is accountability.  As TM has pointed out, instead of getting out in front of the Ukraine conflict in its early stages when there was unanimous support from both houses, our elected grifters needed to make sure they got their cut.  Do you really think union boss Randi Weingartner really visited Ukraine to tour the schools?  I'm sure the list goes on from there.  To this day there is still little to no accountability of where the funds and equipment sent to the Ukraine went or have gone.

So now I read almost all of the whopping 18 tanks they got are either destroyed or inoperable because they can't service them due to unavailable parts or insufficient knowledge to repair them. Wow, a whopping 18 tanks they got, who knew only 18 tanks would let them fight off the Russians. This whole thing stinks to high heaven. There continues to be just enough contribution to keep the war going and people getting dead. Did I mention I hate people getting dead for no reason. For the people that say they are fighting for their country, I get that. What I don't get is that if a decision isn't made to STOP the war by the countries that CAN DO IT, this continued fighting only gets people dead. And who benefits from this? The politicians and Black Rock. So as long as they benefit, this needless killing of people will keep going on. Convince me I'm wrong!

NATO nations could push Russian troops back out of Ukraine. We have the might to do it but have no will to do it. And if you have NO will to do it, then Ukraine should just stop fighting now because there's ZERO chance they CAN do it without NATO help. We'll be here next year in the same bloody war with many more people dead, more destruction in Ukraine, and in the end Russia will overtake Ukraine. Presently they get just enough resources to keep getting people killed but make no progress. The only progress is corrupt people get rich, and Black Rock will step in to rebuild the destruction.

Again, convince me I'm wrong because I really want to be.

My goal isn’t to convince you you’re wrong because TBH I am not sure who knows what is actually going on and who is profiting from this. I know the normal everyday Ukrainians and Russians are not.

Also … we have a lot of similar views.

It really does bother me that we are starting to really string them along (worse than in the beginning)

Either help or don’t.
