You were insanely nice to me as your neighbor. So, yes you made the list.
Danny LaPorte. Not only one of the nicest racers, but also one of the nicest industry people you’ll ever meet.
Met the Lawrence bros at Unadilla one year. Extremely nice and personable.
I'd say the two nicest Pro Motocrossers I've met were Marvin Musquin and Mike Alessi surprisingly. I knew Marvin was busy, but when I ran into him and we started talking, I felt guilty about taking up his time, because our discussion lasted so long and I wanted to end our conversation, but he made me feel as if he wanted to escape for a few hours and go have a Beer somewhere, really cool guy and then Mike Alessi contrary to the image projected by the Alessi family, he was super cool to talk to. First time I met him was at the pool at the MGM grand and I was napping on a long chair sunning my muscular body and suddenly I hear someone ask me Sir! where did you get your Cocktail at, I open my eyes and its Mike and I damn near fell out of my chair and then the other time was at Hangtown right and we talked about that crash where he was knocked unconscious and got run over by about a 100 bikes and I asked him how he was feeling and he told me everything was great, had that been me I would have died I told him. Anyways! I know this will be un-popular, but RC was also really a nice guy to chat with.

The things these guys do behind the scenes are insanely generous. There are a lot of fans out there with stories you would never believe if you didn’t witness it for yourself. Sounds dramatic because it kind of is. I’ve seen whole lives changed in a positive way thanks to these two in particular.
Who?
You liked one of my stupid sarcastic joke posts once, so I'd say you're on the list.
When I was a kid, and Mike Brown used to race over here in the UK, I would say hello to him every opportunity I got and he was always cool as hell to me. Brian Jorgensen was another. I spoke to Brian that often at races he would actually recognise me which was so cool as a kid. DV12 was another. Met him a few times at Foxhill and he was always really friendly. Carl Nunn and Rob Herring were cool as hell too. Malin was another. Those stand out to me.
You made mine. Foxhill 98, mxdn 98, Foxhill 99 you took the time to speak to me at everyone of those dude 🙏🏻
I used to go to Chaparral autograph signings, and Travis Pastrana was the ONLY rider that stayed until the Very end and even after it ended to make sure everyone got to meet him. Crazy how professional he was even at like 18 years old.
McGrath left right on the dot. Lots of the other guys left early
you can see Travis sitting here until the end and nothing but empty tables all the way to the entrance
Doug Henry is right up there too.
Funny how people think being nice means giving to charities for a tax write off.
if we’re talking about all around nice genuine, and personable dudes I don’t think you can check more boxes than Pastrana.
Caden Braswell hands down.
I met Hunter at a Moto Academy event in Tampa, and he took me golfing the next day at his private club. I’ll die for that man.
Nicest? Whoever gave up the lead.
I've met a few of my heroes. All of them were cordial and approachable. Jeff Smith stands out among names you might recognize. But the nicest motocrosser you never heard of is my brother in law, Ronnie Garnes. A fast local pro in NC during the early to mid 70's. I first met him in '77 as a 16 year old punk. I think he was twenty and already had his own auto bodyshop. There were 10 to 15 of us that would pile into the shop after school or work EVERY day. We were the bodyshop gang. It without doubt, changed my life. I'm sure the others would say something similar. Ronnie couldn't work after we all showed up. We were too much under foot. "Ronnie weld this." "Ronnie can I bum a 12mm wrench?" When we all left at 10pm or after, he'd go back to work till 12 or 1... He could and should, have run us all off. I've seen him help people at the races that he didn't even know. As a young person, fatherless, I learned a good bit about being a man just watching him. How he worked and, dealt with people. We eventually married sisters a good many years later. If there is a kinder, more generous, humble or, nicer man on this planet, I'd like to meet him.
Nicest motocrossers I have met (I was in the industry a couple of years):
Travis is super-cool and acts just like a regular guy. He acts like he has known you forever.
Cooper Webb: I knew him pretty well as a kid and he was a really nice and polite guy.
David Bailey is very gracious and friendly.
Tim Ferry- down-to-earth and funny
Chuck Sun- cool guy and full of stories
Guy Cooper- friendly and chill
Haven't officially met Bubba and RC but was around them at LL's one-time and they were super-chill. This was even when they were still racing.
Mike Bell- dealt with him business-wise and he was very pleasant.
Other motocrossers who were pretty cool considering their status, but a bit prickly:
Bob Hannah (he's not a very nice guy but doesn't pretend to be).
Ezra Lusk- a tad grouchy when I was around him.
Gary Bailey- if you ever met him you know. Still a cool guy but not exactly the friendliest.
Pastrana and Carson brown for sure are up there
Pit Row
I sure don't blame you for wanting to end a conversation with MM.
There are a lot of cool guys, but IMO Josh Hill takes the cake for being the nicest motocrosser.
Another vote for Andrew Short. No one has seen him with anything but a smile on his face.
Only if we get to bring up that Atlanta Heat race with the last time a Factory Kawasaki had a #21... You were pretty nice to Roncada in that corner. Your front wheel was behind his footpeg, and he still went down.
#oldRivals
You get a vote from me. I was at a local Southwick race parked next to you when you came the weekend before the National. There were 2 kids that kept going over and asking questions all day.I heard one of them making fun of the other for asking for your underwear as they walked back bye. No idea what you did for them, but they were super happy as they left. And they are probably still DV fans.
You may piss off people with what You say. But I'd rather have somebody be straight up with me when they think I'm an ass. Its why I love this place.
Carson Brown
Wow the Cobra! You were one of my favorite riders growing up! I never got to meet you but man were you fun to watch!
I wanted to put 934 on my bike so badly, but I settled for 93 so I wasn’t called a copycat at the track. Lol.
Dv 12. I made a stupid joke about no one calling me on my birthday right here on vital. He friggin called me and left a voice mail!! I can't believe I forgot till just now.Thank you Cobra.
The Dunge IS......Minnesota nice.
When I took my kids to the Vegas finale in 2005, you were by far the nicest rider to them. My youngest son was 7 then and he still talks about the short conversation you took the time to have with him. He still has the Dragon goggles you gave him.
I've met several riders and some of the nicest I remember are: John DeSoto, Ricky Johnson, Broc Glover, DV12 (of course), Travis Pastrana, Doug Henry, Doug Dubach, Trampas Parker, Marty Smith.
I raced against Mark Barnett in a +40 class race one time and he was very friendly. Just one of the guys.
Gotta be an asterisk on that one though. It's basically doping in the being nice contest.
