Should I avoid buying this bike until the piston issue is resolved or is it not as big of a deal as it seems?

How's this bike compare to the 350? I'm a lugger and it feels like I'm always in between gears on the 350.
It makes its power a lot quicker than the 350, riding back to back on both its def more of a lugger bike. The most effective way I’ve found to ride the 350 is as if you want to murder it absolutely wound out. The 300 I like to ride a gear high knowing a quick blip of the throttle moves you fast.

With vortex updating the part number to address it I’d hope that’s a thing of the past. I had an early model year 23 that went 55 hours on the stock piston with zero issues. When I took it apart it looked like it had another 30 hours easy.
Cheaper to buy the SX and 6500’s or sss, you’ll end up with better forks and transmission.
The piston issue has been there for years, it’s just more present now that the 300 is being rode by more aggressive riders on mx tracks. Wossner has a updated piston if your worried about it, if you watch the fb groups there is way more issues then just the piston.

Random question here but seeing you are an off road racer I was curious if youd know if a 23 250 2t IMS tank would fit on a 23 mc450
a friend purchased one under these circumstances but isn’t sure now because he says it looks way different
He says part numbers show the same but he hasn’t had a chance to call IMS to confirm
just hoping someone may have an educated answer for him before he tears it all apart

That is a complicated question. Which 23 250 2t? They still used the old frame for 2023 Gasgas and 2023 KTM/Husky enduro models. There are two 23 MC450s. One is the old frame the other is the new frame aka factory edition. However Gasgas and KTM have never shared tanks in 2022 or 2024. The Tanks could interchange from 2021 and 2022 but then you had to run plastic to match the tank. So the short answer is a KTM tank won't fit any year of Gasgas without at least changing the plastics. Maybe IMS found a way to make the same tank fit both plastics but that is a question for IMS.

23 Gas Gas MC 450 standard edition
23 Gas Gas 2t Mc250 is a carb bike and the 23 MC450 is a fuel injection bike. Tanks are not the same or compatible, the 450 tank would have a spot for the fuel pump.

I paid $10,800 for my 23 with 9% sales tax in Ca back in Nov 22 and just paid $9400 with no sales tax from an Oregon dealer for my 24.
Has anyone had any luck using the KTM factory fan kit? It looks like the XC wiring harness is the same but I don't see the plug dangling by the radiator to plug the fan in.
I know you can get the aux wiring harness but, is like the fan to be ECU controlled like the XC.
I'm curious if a wire can be tapped into or added to replicate the same setup as the fan on an XC.
Does anyone know the answer to this? I would like to build a Red Bull Gas Gas 300 if you can take a 300 SX and put Gas Gas plastic on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Gas tank is different I believe.
Subframe is also different. Gas Gas subframe is aluminum while KTM/Husky get the composite/aluminum combo.
is the KTM composite now too? I knew the husky was.

I am in the market for another bike. I went to a local dealership yesterday to price a 24 300 SX. It looks like people with 23 models had the most problems. Is a new 24 a safe choice? Any happy 24 owners with a lot of hours on their bikes here?
40 hrs on a 24. Including 8 motos. And 1 harescramble. 😊 happy owner. Knock on wood.Have the parts on hand for a top end rebuild. Oem piston.
