Nicoletti is a genius I bet. I would love to have a conversation with him, hes probably amazingly articulate, smart and intelligent. You can tell by that clip and in his riding; he just exhibits his vast knowledge by making moves like that.

According to parties close to Phillip, who is very smart and articulate, the top guys were all tripling the jump and he had already committed to his line before he realized that Morais wasn't tripling.

Funny thing is, last year, the EXACT same thing happened to him when he didn't triple when everyone else was. His back was clipped and he flipped over the bars.

That could have been WAY worse. I saw Fonseca, Button, and other career ending wad ups. That was very ugly. That one made me cringe. Hope he is alright. Positive thoughts go out to RM.

imo this situation is different than the stewart partrage deal. Nicoletti had to be totaly committed to that triple as soon as he landed from the previous jump. All the top guys were jumping that triple and morias is definately a top guy. By the time nicoletti realized that he should have layed up it was too late. Hindsight is 20/20 and i bet if he could have a do over he wouldn't have tripled there. Stewie crossed from the left to the right in traffic where everybody is jumping the same distance. Stupid move 100 times out of a 100.

but mostly im just really bummed for morias cause he was on it and a serious threat for the title, Hope he can come back strong

MickyV! long time man, that was really nasty, i think he is lucky that his ass took the brunt of the force, just a few inches farther and it easily could of been his spine.

Nicolletti was not wrong in assuming that the 2nd place rider of the first heat was going to triple the same jump that was tripled by the first place rider; which he, the third place rider, was also in the midst of tripling.

Heal up fast Ryan, I was hoping A2 was gonna be your night. Sad

Where he was wrong was in being directly behind Morais.

Indeed he did a bit.

Even if he had not, I cant say that I would fault him for his decision to triple.
I really would expect the second rider on a clear track to jump that; it wasn't sketchy.

I don't think it was anyone's fault really....... that's racing! Get Well Soon Ryan!

man nasty wreck for sure, sucks I was rooting for him. Heal up soon!

I'm glad I heard in thiis thread nothing is broken. You'd never know by the cbs coverage. You'd think since it's tape delayed for a whole day they could use that day to come up with updates on how downed riders are before the show's over.

If he wanted to triple he should have moved a bike or two over. But he didn't, they were two bike lengths apart so he could see RM wasn't trippling and nicoletti should have tripled to the outside. Landing on someone is landing on someone no excuse especially when he could see ryan checked up. Avoidable and not very smart at all
