Chad Reed is one of the greatest ever and he was consistently in LCQs his final couple years, without missing a season, and at age 36-37.

I have a hard time believing a 40 year old Laninovich, who hasn’t raced since … ??? can qualify for a main event.

Must of missed the time he raced 250

I wish I had that kind of career to but doesn't change the facts. He was good but he also had knees like a 80 year old man. A good career but he needs to stay retired at least on a national level. Again, I seriously doubt he will even try.

More power to him but I think he is in for a rude awakening, but I doubt he even signs up for A1. Nostalgia is cool and all but reality usually takes over. People retire for a reason in sports and age isn't your friend. Lets revisit this topic in January. I don't want to make any bets because I dont want to bet on someone to fail.

You don't want to bet on someone to fail, but you want to dribble on about it for half a dozen posts. Sounds reasonable.

Wow...  I think he can make the night show.  I don't think he qualifies for the main.

But yeah, I want him to try and wish him the best of luck doing it.

Last time I saw Lano he was working for Berg Electric at one of our developments in the IE.

Grew up with his family in Poway back in the day, I hope he can pull it off at 40!

He was top 10 in 2012 after not racing since ‘08 I believe. I think he can make a main, maybe one with some big ass whoops that the kids don’t know how to hit.

I hope he makes a night show. I just don’t want to hear them call him Lanovich.

250 he makes the main all night long. He's still faster then Cantanzaro (sp) and he made most of the mains this year I believe. He makes the mains 16-9th

450 hmm night show yes mains a big if. Do I belive he has more talent then the consistent 17th-22nd guy yeah. But 17-22nd are probably in better shape and race shape and even their not making every main consistently. If he makes it it 3rd-4th in the lcq and 17th-22nd depending on fitness.

Whether he makes mains or not, if the guy is having fun, we're going to see some of the gnarliest whips we've seen in a while.

Watching that latest MXA interview, Billy is such a cool guy. I'm sure he can make a main, hopefully he can stay healthy and find the pace to get a top ten by the end of the year.

And does anybody else think that dark blue/white Fly gear he has on looks pretty sano? I do.

Got some lessons from Billy at Pala a couple of times and he was great to work with, solid dude for sure. He looks good on the bike, hopefully he makes a main and throws some of those crazy whips.

WSX he could top5 easy.

So quicker than Justin Hill, should easily qualify for a 450 main then.

One of my favorite guys to watch and I love a good story.  I just hope it has a happy ending.

He has a ton of skill and experience and some good resources. He's going to be a good rider and fit right into the pack and making night shows should be do-able.  To be in the main events he'll have to be beating guys on the level of Jerry Robin, Brandon Ray, Matt Moss, Austin Politelli, etc. It won't be easy.

I just hope the home boy doesn't injure himself. Fitness and skill are one thing. Reaction time, and self-preservation instincts could make life challenging for a 40 year old when you're "in formation" with 19 crazy kids in the middle of a gnar rhythm lane.

John Dowd got a podium in 450MX at 40 years old, and was still scoring in the points when he fully retired at 47. I get that Supercross is a different animal, but still.

If he makes the Main, you can bet Reed dusts off the boots to make history for oldest racer in supercross.

He's been posting his progress on Facebook lately. A friend reached out to see if I knew any videographers to document his racing. I'd say he's definitely in. This is giving me a reason to go to A1 for the first time in many years! Smile

He looks better in his latest IG video than Ferrandis did in his Phoenix announcement Wink

Tough challenge.
But he's with team Faith, and I hear they can move mountains.

i think he can do it in the 250 class. its not as deep as the 450s and the young kids are inconsistent enough he can make a main

I don't care if he makes a main. I'll happily watch him in the heats and LCQs. Hope he gets some good support because vets rule!
