Will Hunter be happy to be HRC’s No.2, forever?

Part of it will be how well Jo does in 250.

When his is done there, Hunter will probably have to step aside.

Also part of this is how quickly Jett will get bored

D O M I N A T I N G !

Will he reach +72 SX wins or will he fxck off and go ”motogp/autoracing” (JMB-style) or even MXGP!? (Naah)

I hate when people try to write history before it even happens.

Jett could go down tomorrow and never be the same rider again. It happens all the time.

They will be together for a long time. Nothing will change. It’s like people want them to fight and split. JFC

Not one comment in this thread suggests that they want them to fight and split.

Where do you come up with this stuff??

Are you the only guy to mention "drama" in this thread?

I think so..

My take on it doesn't involve any drama.

My thoughts are that Hunter didnt become as great as he is by being happy to settle for 2nd best. Im sure his life focus has been on being the best! If Jett keeps beating him, thus, by virtue of the result, being Honda's 2nd guy, might he be happier switching teams and being that team's 1st guy?
Its a valid question.
Even if he STILL doesn't beat his brother, is he better to be Yamaha's/KTM's/Kawasaki's/ number 1 guy than HRC's number 2 guy??

Ask Chase.. He kinda knew he wouldn't be HRC's number 1 guy as soon as Jett moved up. The writing was on the wall.

I still think Hunter will be a lot better than people are thinking, no one mentions he had a better year than Jett did last year with every single same guy plus Deegan to battle.

The Lawrence's are Aussies and they are a family business. Between the two of them they will own the sport for the next 10 yrs and will make Millions in the process. They will support each other on the track.

His place on the team will be determined by his results. It’s all up to him.

Hunter is a darkhorse. He's coming off winning everything and even beating Jett a couple times in 250SX, and everyone is automatically giving Jett the SX title and putting Hunter 3-4. LOL. I'm sure he's ok without the hype though.

On the being #2 part, I don't think he cares as long as the $$ keeps coming in. If that ever changes is when he moves on to a new team OR they both find a new team sticking together as a family unit. The family unit is certainly a different hand that they have to play, as opposed to a single talent. It didn't work well for the Alessi's, but Jett and Hunter are bringing in the championships.

I think we will see the Brothers split in the future. Not on negative terms either.

Hunter is already 24, and if he can stay with Jett at Honda for the next 4-6 years I can’t imagine him not doing so. The only things that I think would/could pull him away would be getting totally inferior equipment than Jett, or getting his pay cut so drastically that it’s insulting. Otherwise if he’s on the same level of equipment and commitment, I think that he’s mature enough to understand that the faster rider usually does more winning…..

I respect Jett for how incredible he is on the track, I truly do.  But< I cannot be sold on the idea Hunter will be the number 2 guy from here on out.  Would not shock me one bit if he turns out to be a real thorn in little brothers side.  He has been through injuries in the past, he's older, wiser, and no stranger from the top step.  I'm not sold on this 2nd place forever shit.....  not one bit.

Hunter and Jett have a great opportunity to push each other for the next 5+ years.

Jett will experience a crash or injury, (hopefully he doesn't) that may stall his current progress, and then Hunter will be #1.....and vice versa over the nx 5 yrs.  Great situation for both of them.

Jett and Hunter racing for second place, behind Eli, will make no difference who arrives first into the pits under the Honda tent, after the race.

I dont beleive he would be #2 anywhere if it wasnt for Jett.

He was lucky not to get canned, better riders have fallen away in the past.

Luckily Honda stuck with it, and he will be a solid 450 guy, against a backdrop of the class getting old across the board.

Other than Jett, nobody has come up bagged a factory 450 seat in a while, save for Sexton who was pulled up early IMO.

Tomac, Webb, AC,Anderson, Mookie,Craig,Wilson, Marv,Barcia, Ferrandis have all been in the class a long while, now.

A1 will tell us a lot, that is for certain.

Hunter was always faster than Jett.

One of them will be at Ducati sooner than later.

Even if he is technically the second rider in terms of stature and pay, he’s still going to get all the equipment and support he needs to be successful there. I think it’s highly unlikely Jett will have anything bike related that Hunter can’t also have. He’ll have all the tools he needs and if he delivers, he’ll get paid accordingly

I think the Lawrence family knows a good thing when they see it. Team Honda HRC and Jett and Hunter are the #1 and #2 riders making Millions on the best team and bikes.  They have the same bike and support, changing teams is not going to benefit Hunter Lawrence and simply put Hunter Lawrence training Hunter Lawrence to beat his little brother is the challenge and motivation, but if the Championships don't happen,he's got his Hot! wife to comfort him.

Many of you assume you know their contracts and pay/bonuses.  It could be a family deal and there is huge upside for Honda if that's the case.  I believe Hunter adds a level of comfort for Jett and vice versa as they work together to succeed as a family.  It has worked great so far.

On the other hand, the other thread making it sound like Eli is coming in behind Jett is laughable considering Jett has yet to race a 450SX.

It isn’t like Hunter is a coattail rider to Jett. Hunter offers considerably more and judging by Paris, he will be in the top 5 mix and battling for podiums.

Why is it so laughable when Eli himself is coming off a season ending injury and hasn't raced in months?

How is he on the test track time wise (and don't say 2 seconds a lap faster, lol)??

I just hope they all come in healthy, in-shape and ready to do battle 100%. Then when the gate drops, we will all see who will be chasing who.

Eli coming back from an injury is not anywhere close to comparable to Jett never racing 450 SX and being the favorite.

How would any of us know test track times and that also doesn't always translate.  Example:  Christian Craig has always been know to be fast as hell in practice.  He is just one of many examples

Think about this for a second, the currant SX champion and guy that took the 22 MX champion down to the last round didn't lead a single lap outdoors because of Jett. That currant SX champion also lost the SMX championship to Jett (and Kenny). Jett just won the KOP 2 day 6 moto series against Kenny and Webb and looked pretty damn convincing doing it. Yes AMA 450 SX is different, but if you seriously don't see a case for him coming in as a favorite when ET3 is coming off a major injury and hasn't had a gate drop since may, and CS4 has to adapt to a new bike, well I think your looking at A1 through a set of blue coloured glasses.

Whoever wins, I hope they're all still standing at the end.

A rookie is not the favorite ever.  All that you said is correct, and it's not 450SX.  Will he win races?  Certainly looks that way.  Title?  Definitely in the mix along with Eli and Chase and several other wild cards.   I am not saying Eli is the favorite either by the way.
