This is awesome!  My order has already been placed, along with a care package of PayDay bars for Rick.  He prefers the original if anyone cares to send him some, they are his absolute favorite.  Yes, Cindy has been really overwhelmed, but she is staying on top of things.....  So glad to see this is taking off.  I asked ML to pin this a few days ago, and nothing has happened, but it's ok.......wasn't really expecting  much.  Word is getting around quickly it seems, otherwise.  Thank you to everyone who  has helped/keeping tabs on them.  True Moto people.

60% of the way to the goal of $30K.  I'd love to see it reached.  Hope it makes a big dent in the bills they have accumulated.

BTW, I am in no way related to the Sieman family or have any info on their situation other than what Cindy has posted.  Rick just had a big impact on my love of dirt bikes and I think he deserves some help.

Alright, here's the latest scoop and a plea. Very, very soon there will be an online store (at a freaking *killer* domain, if I do say so myself) where anyone can browse and order stuff that benefits Rick. In fact it is already up, but she's not ready to start taking orders on it. It's going to make Cindy's life a lot easier. Here's the plea: She said Rick wiped out his computer and, as far as she knows, had the only master copies of the files on the CDs he was sending out. She's desperately searching for them. But I figure some of you may have ordered these? If so, would you be willing to upload the files to a Google drive folder so we can put everything back to normal? Let me know. And THANKS!

Member MX317 earlier in this thread was going to attempt uploading the CD to the cloud... perhaps you could work with him on this.     I hope something works out because I definitely want to purchase a copy.    The columns and photos are priceless.

Thanks for all the effort you guys are putting into the online ordering site. Cool

For those with CDs that want to help. DM me and I'll share a read/write URL to a Google drive folder where we can start collecting these files. Thanks!

It's great to see folks like Whipmeister and others doing what they can to help out Cindy or to contribute...SH is no doubt a legend in our sport!

I will share that his Monkey Butt is an awesome read and based on the way it's written, I'd consider it his autobiography of his dirt biking life.  If you've not ordered one, check it out!

They are now in your Google Drive. They are named SH and SH2. Let me know if they came through uncorrupted.

They came through. Thank you. They're HTML, so they'll need some tweaking to be reconstituted as viewable articles.

Good deal. I got a message from Google because of the autorun.exc file that they had to review it. It opens with Edge when I run the actual CD.

Yup.. Monkey Butt is a fantastic book.     Lots of insider information from back in the day.  Some of the best stories in there are about Jim Holley and his penchant for picking up girls.  lol

I appreciate the admins/owners of Vital allowing this thread to continue.  I posted it on another motorcycling forum I frequent and it lasted a few days before the admins deleted it.  What I didn't know is that they don't allow "go fund me" type threads any longer.   I get it, I suppose it could get out of hand and some of them you wonder if it's a scam or not.

I would love to buy some good reading material. His stuff was before my time, but I'm convinced they were better times. I have a lot of time on my hands this winter. Will be watching this thread.

Good news! The first dump of files made it through relatively unscathed. Adobe Flash has not been supported in about 10 years, so I'll scrub that out. I think shopify supports sales of downloadable digital media. Will discuss with Cindy to see what she wants to do there. She's at a convention, so we might lay low for a couple of days. Thanks for all your help guys!

You won't be sorry. Back when dirt biking was just a bunch of lunatics loading up in their beater pickups to go rip around the desert all day. And Rick's was the perfect voice to call the action.

Monkey Butt has been in the throne room for years.  "I passed you so fast you looked like a cat that got pulled backwards through a knothole"   Hahaha lots of gold in that book.

Got some goodies in the mail today from Rick/Cindy.    Seems I lost my Phantom Duck book or gave it away to someone to read,  so I bought another.  Got some stickers and a poster too.   Poster shipped separate.       This all went out very quick, so she's on top of things.

Update on the CD stuff. So I got the second CD full of photos sort of reconstituted. The color photo JPGs themselves are no biggie. But Rick had wrapped them in an Adobe Flash slideshow 'wrapper'. Flash was retired years ago and none of the browsers will permit the install of the plug-in due to some security risk I never really researched. Bottom line, I can turn the slide show into an MP4 video stream. But it will operate as a video. Anyway, progress.

I'm not hip enough to what other CDs he was putting out. All we have right now are the From The Saddle columns and the accompanying photos. Still need anything else he may have shipped.

Cindy's at a convention, so I don't expect much movement until next week. And, with the holiday.....Whistling Be patient, folks. We're getting there.

ALSO, there has been a big push to get Rick into the AMA Hall of Fame this year. If anyone has any pull whatsoever to make this happen, any and all efforts will be appreciated.

It's going. I'm constrained by how much time Cindy can devote to it. She is incredibly busy, even without having to look after Rick. As soon as we round up one more detail (Paypal account info), the store should go live. She's had a bit of a wrestling match with Rick and Tina. They don't want to hand over the reins to her. But they really *need* to, if you catch my drift. He's deleted a whole bunch of stuff he shouldn't have. (CD masters for one). Not always easy dealing with the elderly. I hate that I even have to use that word for Hunky. But it fits.

The CD content is going to take a little massaging. They used Adobe Flash to present the photo slideshow. That's been gone from the world for several years. I do have it running, sans the photo slideshow locally. Shouldn't take a lot. I only received the columns and the photos CDs. I know there are some others he was selling as well.

Stay tuned...

I bought a few things last night. It's cool stuff and I've always loved the guy, so it's not like there was any sacrifice on my end.

I hope it helps.

It's all we can do. He ushered a whole lot of us into the sport while being funny as hell.

Cindy just got to Cozumel (where she lives over the winter) and had to return back to look after Rick. She said he's not doing great.

So very sad to hear of his passing, but so very grateful for the impact he had on my life. Like countless others I'm sure, he introduced me to the idea that creative writing wasn't something exclusively reserved for people who lived "interior lives." From him I learned that I could weave my love of riding into my love of writing, and that precious insight has had a profoundly positive impact on my life.

Godspeed, Super Hunky, and well done, maestro.
