pre 2020 there was leftover 2 strokes for Yamaha but if you can find a current year to buy you should also play the lotto.
so with that said no rebates on 2 strokes.
Yamaha hasnt had rebates or decent special APRs in a longggg time, hard even allocating some of the most wanted stuff. My 2023 YZ125 had to drive 4 hours for out of state and my 2024 YZ250F had to have shipped from Cali. Snag it.
KTM usually has a few last years models discounted around may just thought Yamaha would do the same
There's always good deals on yamahas just have to look and be willing to call around an even drive a bit.
But...
That being said the 125's and 250's are harder to find a deal then the 250F and 450 since they don't make as many of them as they do the F's.

Local dealer(Power) has yz250’s for $7,500 OTD almost always here in Oregon.. I’ve seen a handful of the 22’+ for sale used for good prices, it’s a buyers market now, deals everywhere. Almost bought a 2018 yz125 for $2,500 last week..
To bad your not closer to the CDN border - i just paid $7500 plus tax for a non current YZ250f. Thats $5,500.00 usd. plus 350 freight and tax.
He's looking for a current gen YZ250, current gens are still fetching close to MSRP or MSRP. I was able to negotiate dealer prep off my 2024 YZ250F and that was a struggle to even find one, but was worth it, the bike handles so much better than my 19 did and 23 CRF. Still a hell of a deal you snagged.
Yamaha doesn't do rebates on 2 strokes. I was lucky my local dealer had their own deal going on with the one I bought back in May (Memorial weekend sale).
I am lucky enough to be related to a big dog in a multi brand dealership across multiple states.
A few months ago, after being out of the game for about a decade, I inquired about a leftover YZ. There was not one in existence in their entire chain. My contact was even going to ship the bike if he could find one in other arts of the country, but none existed in his network. This is a well known dealership and may be the largest in the nation.
Not only did I say that I wanted a YZ250, I provided alternatives. YZ125, YZ250FX. None were available.
I did get a KX250X as a leftover with a heavy discount so all was not lost. Next purchase, I will time my acquisition better.
It depends when rebates show up but it's usually late spring/summer and not always and not all YZ's. Really just depends. I do have a white anniversary YZ450F I just received I would let go out of state cash for $9,999 or in state (PA - cash or finance) for $10,699.
There are VERY few yams in dealerships of any year...where are the 24 yz250f's?! They were supposed to be here in nov
I've seen two 24 anniversary editions yz250f's @ Power motorsports in oregon. They have a leftover 23 yz250f also marked down to 7499.

Power always seems to have loads of inventory. They sell sooo many bikes.
I got mine, had to ship it from Cali but yep the selection of actually instock was non existent.
The rebates come out a few months before the new models are released so usually May. That being said, if you can find a 23, there is a $500 rebate until 12/31/23.
Looks like the only ones still around are in CA or UT. If still interested, PCP in Sacramento and Roseville Yamaha in the same area both show one in stock. GP sports in San Jose shows one and so does Chico Motorsports. Moto United in UT has one and you won’t find anything farther East than that.
All that and I didn’t need to ask a big dog at RideNow. Haha.
Since the KX thread devolved, I'm still hoping someone can give me a bit of advice --
These price drops of the kx250's are kind of insane... I was hoping to get my dream yz250f, but damn my wallet would be happier with a cheaper brand new bike. At a certain point a 250 is a 250 -- and much easier to handle than a 450.
Does anybody think that significant price drops will appear in the following weeks for yz's?
They better have some price drops. I'm in the market for a 24 YZ125 most dealers sold out of all of them. Meanwhile the KTM 125 is marked down for less than a YZ.

I was just at a dealer today. ~$10k otd for the yz250f. Kx was $2k cheaper. Ktm was somewhere in between.

The dealer here was knocking off like $200 on a 250 smoker and their pricing is very competitive. No 4T's.
Google map dealers, and call. I called a ton of dealers looking for deals on a yz450.. There arent gonna be left overs, gotta get what ya can get, but there are deals to be had. Got mine for under 10k otd after freight tax and doc.
Call fivestar powersports in Duncansville PA and talk to Steve Maslanik n tell him i sent ya. Their inventory shows they have some and he may give a buddy deal. Hes hooked up a few people under msrp that ive had call.

The out of state to avoid tax deal is coming to an end. States are talking now. You could get hit with a surprise letter that you owe tax.
I live in Washington state and bought my current bike a 2022 Gas Gas EX350f in sales tax free Oregon. I still haven’t paid the tax, got a letter from the state that I promptly threw in the garbage. Haven’t heard a word since.

I’m a Yamaha guy mainly.
Last season I got a nice deal on a left over KX250. I can honestly say it was one of the best 250 4 bangers that I’ve ever ridden. I also thought that quality control was on point. I didn’t find any part of the bike that was of lesser quality. The plastic is a bit thinner than other makes, but I also replace the stock plastic anyway when I buy a new bike.
I’m too much of a 2 stroke guy at heart though. I sold it and bought a YZ250.
Altus Ok has 24 kx 450 otd for 8k. That's no tax coming from Dallas
Hmm -- man that's got me thinking. I've ridden (various years) ktm, kawi, and yamaha 250's and they were all fun to ride simply because they weren't a 450. Makes me think I should just go for the wallet based decision and just get out and ride.
You can’t go wrong with that philosophy. I wish I could have kept two bikes because I would still have that KX250.
Atta boy. 2 stroke for life. Waiting for the 2025 KTM 300 SX to upgrade from my 2020 YZ250.
